Everyone gather round now
Sing us a song
Just in case by tomorrow
It happens he's gone
For two weeks and seven days
Our fair foreign friend
I have this feeling
We might never see Steven again

But we thought he was gone
Now he's come back again
Last week it was funny
Now the jokes wearing thin
Everyone knows now
That every night now
Will be Steven's last night in town

He's charmed everyone here
Except Tamara Easter
Who later revealed to him
Her innermost secrets
Won us over with stories
About Linda McCartney
Lost points with the ladies
For saying he couldn't love a
Woman with cellulite

But we thought he was gone
Now he's come back again
Last week it was funny
Now the jokes wearing thin
Everyone knows now
That every night now
Will be Steven's last night in town

We were talking bout something
Seems like was funny
Then Steven got quiet
I think Steven was mad
Maybe he wasn't mad
But we felt very strange
In the moment
But the moment was past
And forgotten

But we thought he was gone
Now he's come back again
Last week it was funny
Now the jokes wearing thin
Everyone knows now
That every night now
Will be Steven's last night in town

Actually, this song is about quite the contrary of missing someone, its about this guy (Stephan, obviously) who came to stay with Ben, and he wouldn't leave. He kept thinking he was going to leave, but he never did. So Ben wrote this song to kind of give him a hint, and the story goes, he took the hint and left the next day.

This song is really funny cuz I know a guy named Steven, who, just recently was supposed to be going overseas for 6 weeks, but when he was supposed to leave, he didn't, then a month later he finally did leave, but he came back 3 weeks early, then he was supposed to be taking a trip interstate, but that never happened, then he was going to be moving interstate, but that fell through as well. Now we just make fun of him through this song.

This is such a sweet song. It really reminds me of when friends that are older than you graduate and move off to college...then eventually move somwhere and start a life of their own..it really reminds me of my brother, we arent all that close but next year hes gonna be living at college and Ill miss him...even though we dont talk a lot...I still love him :'(

And of course the telephone ringing in the middle of the song. The first few times I heard that part of the song, I thought it was my phone, but it was actually the phone ringing while they were recording the song. I like this one because of the klezmer flavor.

i dont believe this song only has 4 comments! this song is so great musically, it makes me wanna dance. and like sooo many other BFF songs it makes me laugh to think of this guy who wont get lost! i especially like the rambling style of the lyrics which is also inherent in so many BFF songs.

whats the story behind steven going quiet i think steven was mad etc etc... i love the way it sounds like something big is going to happen in the story but then the moment passes and nothing changes, its like a massive dissapointment, but funny as.

    this band is so good.

i LOVE every song by ben folds AND ben folds i've heard!

when i saw ben live (i had never heard him before) he said that this song was about some british guy who was staying with him and he kept saying he was leaving and telling ben they had to have a "pah-ty" (british accent). of course, i thought that was HILARIOUS. so ya.

loves the ben. and yes, this song makes me wanna DANCE!

i dont think it is actually right but the way i always see the last verse is.. ben and friends have all been saying about how steven never actually leaves but have never actualy brought it up with him. then one day they are sat around with stephen and someone makes a joke about it, maybe just trying to bring it up that hes still there but in a light hearted way, and then steven just ignores the comment and starts talking about something else thats the picture i always get anyway

Well, I think it means that he did get mad, but went on, refusing to leave.

I think its about a guy who comes to stay and won't leave, But also, he uses that as an excuse to get with the ladies. Like in a "I'm leaving tomorrow, come home with me" sort of way.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
