She plays wipeout on the drums
The squirrels and the birds come
Gather around to sing the guitar
Oh I, have you got nothing to say

When all words fail she speaks
Her mix tape's a masterpiece
Walks through the garden
So the roses can see
Oh I, have you got nothing to say
And you can see the daisies
In her footsteps
Dandelions, butterflies
I want to be Kate

Everyday she wars the same thing
I think she smokes pot
She's everything I need, she's everything I'm not
Oh I
Have you got nothing to say

She never gets wet
She smiles and it's a rainbow
And she speaks and she breathes
I want to be Kate

Down by the Rosemary and Cameron
She hands out the
Bhagaved Gita
I see her around every couple days
I want to meet her so that
I can say, hey Kate

I think this is about Ben's wife, because in the liner notes of "Whatever and Ever Amen" it thanks someone named Kate Folds.

I've also heard that Ben wrote this on a bet that he couldn't write a song with a one-syllable chorus.

I love this song because of the Rosemary and Cameron mention. I go to UNC, as Ben did, and these are references to the two streets that border parallel to the main drag, Franklin Street, in Chapel Hill. I live on one and walk daily down the other, and I like to imagine Kate standing on the corner of campus just hanging out!

This song always reminds me of a girl I met in college named Kate. She always told me "jump out of a plane you might learn something." Don't worry Kate I will. She skydives btw.

Oh hell, this song is so incredibly cute. How can you listen to this and not feel happy? My favorite lyrics are: She never gets wet She smiles and it's a rainbow And she speaks and she breathes I wanna be Kate

She smiles and it's a RAINBOW. Everyone's gotta have a Kate of their own sometime. Crushes are fun.

some cool little references in this song....great tune as well.....i thought of this song when i was at warped tour and i saw these guys handing out the Bhagaved Gita...there the ones with the funny hair do...that are typically at the airport with flowers. My friend got a book from them and gave them a donation...it was cool

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Trouble Breathing
Alkaline Trio
While the obvious connections with suicide or alcoholism could be drawn easily, more subtly this song could be about someone who views the world through a negative lens constantly and how as much as the writer tries to show the beauty in the world, this person refuses to see it. It's one or another between the rope and the bottle. There is no good option for this person. They can't see it. Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it. You can hear it when he says maybe you're a vampire.

Another Love
Tom Odell
I think the meaning is pretty clear. This person got really burned in a previous relationship, and because of this is unable to love and show care in his present one, even though he so badly wants to. It's lovely song, and very sad. You can really feel how defeated and frustrated he is with himself.

Of Mice & Men
This track is about is about questioning why the sky would choose to be blue if it had the choice to be anything else, “blue also meaning sad,” states frontman Aaron Pauley. “It's about comforting a loved one in a time of loss by telling them you feel blue, too.”
