Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in
Pedal to floor, and back in the seat of
Purpose and will versus modern machine
Feeling slow, weak in the knees
From the tar on the street, and the weight of my feet
The sweat off my face, wanting first place
More than you can, more than you understand
(Chorus)
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles
Photo finish race, rear-view stare chase
Satisfaction only when, I finish at the end
If I follow all the rules, promise that I'll win
Driven so confused that, I'm goin' around in circles again
(Chorus)
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles
Holding on, by a thread
Cut me loose, so I can contend
Hoping for, something more than second place
First place or more (First place or more)
First place or more (First place or more)
First place or more
Where will I be when I get to the end
Doesn't matter what place I began
Three hundred and sixty one degrees and then
(Chorus)
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in
Purpose and will versus modern machine
Feeling slow, weak in the knees
From the tar on the street, and the weight of my feet
The sweat off my face, wanting first place
More than you can, more than you understand
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles
Satisfaction only when, I finish at the end
If I follow all the rules, promise that I'll win
Driven so confused that, I'm goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles
Cut me loose, so I can contend
Hoping for, something more than second place
First place or more (First place or more)
First place or more (First place or more)
First place or more
Where will I be when I get to the end
Doesn't matter what place I began
Three hundred and sixty one degrees and then
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles again
Goin' around in circles

This song was written for a NASCAR compilation album, was it not?
It's about a race, guys. It doesn't go a whole lot deeper than that.
This song is about NASCAR racing. It appeared on both the NASCAR: Crank it Up compilation released by Fox in 2002, as well as the video game NASCAR Thunder 2003. The song is written from the point of view of a hyper-competitive driver, and ends implying there is always another race coming up.
...this is my first lyric thingy-doo-somethin, i hope it's well done, thanks...
I think this is a case of always wanting to be first. You grow up in a home where you're always seeking approval, but you can never get it. So, when you get older, and get out into the real world, you can't handle anything less. Hence "First place or more, first place or more." Now, think about it. You can only hit first place. There isn't any "more" there's first place, and on down, but that's what ELIAS is seeking. That first place, where he'll finally get that approval. Also, there's this cool intro the band does live, where he says, '"In circles, in circles, in circles, in circles, going around in circles, in circles, in circles..."' And, it's really slow, and cool!! 'Cause it's like about 30-40 seconds long, and he sings it in a soft voice, fades to whisper, then soft, then whisper, and then, the boys kick into the beginning! I love it!! ELIAS!!!! And K.B., ANDY, & ROBB!!! Yumyumyumyumyumyum...
This song is about the seeming endless ritual of modern existence. 'Pedal to floor, back in the seat'; is taken to mean each day starts off the same; too quickly. It's a pretty heavy song, and it's message is unmistakable. 'Passing the slow, defeating the weak, all with the time on the sheet'; obviously a play on an egotistical person in a low-wage menial job, thinking he or she is the bomb because they have an extra hour or two on the time sheet for the week. 'Purpose and will vs. modern machine'; you can be highly skilled and versatile, yet be stuck as a one-track cog in the corporate or social machine of the nation. You can feel distant even when you're arm's length. As for the second verse, I think that it points to a person with low ambition who creates self-fulfilling prophecies of failure: 'satisfaction only when I finish the end'. Finally, the final verse begs the question; 'Does it matter what place I began?' In other words:if I start out poor, lonely, as nothing, can I succeed in this ever-changing and ruthless world? This song is very heavy, very in-your face, and mixes the drum and guitar very well with the vocals. In other words; I'm not surprised that of all the 'true' Nonpoint fans posting on the pop songs, only three folks have so far commented on this song. PS - Recoil is cannon-fodder. Don't waste your time.
This is an awesome song. One of their best for sure.
I think CINCWorld pretty much hit the nail for me, not much more to add.
You guys do know this was used in a video game right? (EA Sports NASCAR Thunder 2003, a game I owned on the original PlayStation back in the day.)
