Yeah, yeah
Your eyes shine bright like a Jesus nitelite
I'd like to touch your positive vibes
Indifferent eyes won't give me the time
May I help put aside your moral fiber?

You're dressed in white my face is white
I'd like to be a colorful sight to see
I'm only here in background here on the ground lies my head
I sleep and then I wake make sounds and go to bed and wake again

The time is right but I feel all wrong
It wastes away until it's gone
The time is right but I feel all wrong
It fades away and now you're gone

Yeah my time is right but still I feel all wrong
It wastes away and now you're gone

You're walking by, I'm standing by
Behind the light I'm standing by
By and by

The time is right but I feel all wrong
It wastes away until it's gone
The time is right but I feel all wrong
It fades away and now you're gone

Yeah my time is right but still I feel all wrong
It wastes away until it's gone and now it's gone
And here we go
Yeah yeah yeah, oh oh oh oh
Yeah yeah, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

i think this song is about losing your virginity or having someone give up theirs to you.

"You're eyes shine bright like a jesus nitelite" - innocence

"You're dressed in white" - purity

"My face is white" - fear, anxiety, nervousness

"may i help put aside your moral fiber" - making somone lose their virginity/values aka "moral fiber"

"I sleep and then I wake make sounds and go to bed and wake again"- going to sleep after sex maybe and feeling guilty or something along those lines

"The time is right but I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone" - the time was perfect to lose it but he still feels guilty

i'm really upset more people havent posted about this band...they're awesome

    My Interpretation

This song is about having a crush on a religious girl but you're a "bad" guy so it will never work, even if the "time" is right.

Your eyes shine bright like a Jesus nitelite

    • she is happy, attractive, life of the party type, and religious. A nitelite lights up a dark room(probably referring to the influence of the girl on the speaker, or maybe how she lights up the party unlike the other girls there)

I'd like to touch your positive vibes -He is but a man.

Indifferent eyes won't give me the time -she's not interested in the "bad" guy

May I help put aside your moral fiber

    • literal

    You're dressed in white

    • she is beautiful and innocent (who said innocence is the greatest aphrodisiac?)

My face is white -she makes him nervous

The time is right but I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone

    • he has a chance to try and spit some game but lets it pass because they have ideological differences and it wouldn't work out

You're walking by I'm standing by Behind the light I'm standing by By and by -he missed his opportunity, and even if he gets another he will make the same choice by and by is in a lot of religious songs as it expresses a sense of eternity and certainty, something that is definite, but indefinitely long for instance the song "I'll Fly Away":

"I'll fly away, Oh Glory I'll fly away; (in the morning) When I die, Hallelujah, BY AND BY, I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

Thats my take on it, but it may just be me projecting my personal experience on his song.

i think this song is about a guy who is an outcast, or is hated by most people, and he wants to get with this girl because she accepts him and is kind to him...let me break it down.

"Your eyes shine bright like a Jesus nitelite" ~jesus is the so called "savior" and he protects the ones who belive in him and a night light concures the darkness....she showed him that she will protect him against other people and he wants her to help him over him his "darkness".

"I'd like to touch your positive vibes" ~sorta self explainitory

"Indifferent eyes won't give me the time" ~people don't like him or trust him...the expression..."i wouldn't even give him the time of day"

"May I help put aside your moral fiber" ~not really sure

"You're dressed in white my face is white" ~white is a "pure" color and he think that she can do no wrong, also he is sorta scared of telling her how he feels...a nervous anxitity

"I'd like to be a colorful sight to see" ~colorfull as a happy sight

"I'm only here in a background" ~hes not really noticed by the other people or with her?

"Here on the ground lays my head" ~got me

"I sleep and then I wake make sounds and go to bed and wake again" ~he wants more to do...he just plays the emoitions...he wants something to wake to in the middle of the night

"The time is right but I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone" ~it explains itself

"The time is right but I feel all wrong It fades away and now you're gone" ~again it explains itself

"You're walking by I'm standing by Behind the light I'm standing by By and by" ~i'm not really sure

well that's my take ont he whole thing...even if u don't understand it....it's a kick ass song. its my favorite song the the album.

This song is about a wedding..... he loves the bride, but she doesn't love him and is getting married to someone else. "You're dressed in white...." And he's just in the background. Maybe she doesn't know he loves her. He's jealous of the groom. "I'd like to be a colorful sight to see, but I'm here in the background..... " I might be wrong, I just thought I'd share. :)

I think this relates to being in High School, like many other Eve 6 songs. The narrator seems to be on the outside looking in, outcast by his peers. He also wants this girl in white he speaks of to love him but he is unnoticed...at least...thats what I got out of the song.

What I'm sure of is that I can relate to the song very well, and I think that's what most bands want: their fans to be able to connect.

These are all interesting perspectives of this song. This is my favorite song of the album. It just really touches me.

Here is my perspective of this song. It has kind of been touched on already.

The song is about a guy who is in love with someone, but he is an outcast and not noticed. He is in the "background" and wishes to be a "colorful sight to see" but unfortunately, he is not. Perhaps he is so infatuated with this girl (or guy) that he puts her on a pedastil as perfect (thus the white). He imagines her being ultimately pure and immaculate. The song is about getting the courage to go talk to her. "I sleep and wake make sounds and go to bed, and wake again." This is perhaps my absolute favorite line of the song. It is about his dull, uneventful, and monotonous life that is revolving about him thinking about talking to this girl. "The time is right, but I feel all wrong." He gets nervous and changes his mind. "It wastes away, and now its gone." He waiting to long and his opportunity passed him by. He's left "standing behind"

The Jesus Nitelite thing is pretty self explainatory. If you have ever had a nitelite, if it has eyes they're always clears, and therefore light up. He's just saying she has eyes as bright as if they had lights lighting them up.
    In that line.
