Things that happen
Just once
If she'd looked she would have seen it
He was standing
All night Cross the street very still
And they go out so easily
The street lamps
The cars come and go
But I see you
Too clearly I don't trust myself anymore
If it's all true Just say it
I may already know
That sound when it's over
The sidewalks will carry you home

My InterpretationI believe this song is about the breakup of a relationship. It talks about trust in herself, most likely the breakup do to an affair she already sensed. He gave her the bad news in a park or other public place. The side walks will bring her home.

General CommentI still think the song is about an actual murder - both victim and killer being persons known to the narrator.
Bear in mind that during this era Stina was writing songs entailing, amongst other things, witnessing another probable murder (First Day In Spring) and being a terrorist's confidante (Viewed From The Spire).
