I've just been to see my best friend
He's got another girl
Says she's just about the best thing
In the whole damn world

And he says can't you see what the little lady's done for me
Says it like he thinks I'm blind
But the things that you see ain't necessarily the things you can find
But those

Happy loving couples make it look so easy
Happy loving couples always talk so kind
Until the time that I can do my dancing with a partner
Those happy couples ain't no friends of mine

People say I'm too damn fussy
When it comes to girls
Happy couples say I must live
In a lonely world

Want to be, want to really be what my friends pretend to be
Be it in my own good time
Being kind to myself till I become one of two of a kind

Happy loving couples make it look so easy
Happy loving couples always talk so kind
Until the time that I can do my dancing with a partner
Those happy couples ain't no friends of mine

You ain't no friends of mine
You know what I mean
Happy loving couples
In matching white polo-necked sweaters

Reading Ideal Homes magazine
Yeah!

You ain't no friends of mine
You ain't no friends of mine
You ain't no friends of mine
You ain't no friends of mine
Right, that's enough

Another supersong from Joe Jackson. You may call the person singing jealous, but if you were the only one who's single among many couples (and even better: been like that your whole life), you would understand what this song is about. Yes, envy. Everyone around you is happy, because they have their significant other. You're not happy because you're the only single. They try to cheer you up but actually they make you really mad. You try to pretend you're happy, but in fact you're not. Because you've been single your whole life, you don't know how to deal with girls (people say I'm to damn fussy when it comes to girls). By that you're pushing then away from yourself. Others call you odd for that.

Try to understand this. I do

the comments are missing something, that like a lot of joe's best songs, this one 'cuts both ways'; yes, the narrator is jealous and perhaps a tad self-righteous. but he also sees the flaws in his friends' relationships ("he's found another girl" - emphasis on the second to last word) and how their shit comes up short ("talk so kind"). it's pretty idealistic of him to wait for something real....

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
