The way I view this song is that it is about a person getting in a bad romance, telling theirself its great, even though they know it really ain't. In my personal life....I have been there a few times...but like a fool, I stayed in the romance until I couldn't deal with things anymore. This is one of those songs that has been covered many times....both successfully, and also in some less than memorable covers. I had never really listened to it until the early 2000's, and it really struck a chord with me because I have always had a "screw the rules" mentality, and it was a punk anthem when it was initially recorded by the Sex Pistols. In the Crue's case, it was a screw you to the recording industry. |

I just remember in the summer of 1987, I had just moved for the first time, and "Appetite for Destruction" had just been released, and this song was ALL over radio, and I fell in love with its lyrics. It wasn't until I got into high school, possibly middle school that I really found out the meaning for the lyrics, but its a song that played a huge part in my life, and such. Its such an iconic song for the guitars in it, and the lyrics...it has stood the test of time.I just wish that the original GnR would reunite for a tour, and good album...but that will never happen. |
