Q&A
Perhaps Lyrics
Perhaps I was wrong
When I didn't see you, hey, hey
Perhaps I was wrong, hey
When I don't believe you
But how would I know how it feels
Or what it takes to be you?
I've been so upset
Harboring this hate for days
Hey, my sense of rejection
Hey, hey
Is no excuse for my behavior, hey
You pulled the gun, hey, hey
That shot and crucified my savior
Now he is no more and I am without you
Just like I was before
The way I used to be, hey
What a weight upon your shoulders that you don't need
My heart bleeds for me
Got a lot more than I bargained for
You're all alone now
You forgot about the others you were fighting for
You're all alone
Ooh, sold out to the ones that you once ignored
You're all alone now
You used to be a little crazy, now there's so much more
You're all alone
Perhaps I was wrong, hey, hey
When I didn't see you, hey, hey
Perhaps I was wrong, hey
When I don't believe you
But how would I know how it feels
Or what it takes to be you?
I've been so upset
Harboring this hate for days
Oh, what a weight upon your shoulders that you don't need
My heart bleeds for me
Got a lot more than I bargained for
You're all alone now
You forgot about the others you were fighting for
You're all alone
Ooh, sold out to the ones that you once ignored

The first three verses of the song, are being interpreted as Axl Rose’s apology to someone he once misunderstood and ended up pushing away. This unseen, empathetic side of Rose might come as a surprise for fans, especially the old-timers who have stood witness to his antics, both on and off stage, and are aware of his “appetite for destruction”.
This song has a real “November Rain” vibe to it. My interpretation of it is that the singer wishes that things were different

Sounds even better on 7”; but truly does have a Use your Illusion I feel to it

Maybe its because its happening to me right now, but I interpret this song as about making friends with someone and then they dump you because you do something they don't like. You try to apologize but they still leave you. If it has not happened to you, losing a friend hurts, a lot. This song will help you. It has the signature GNR sound to it. Would not be out of place on one of the Use Your Illusion albums. It has a similar sound to LALD, November Rain, or Heavens Door, but a bit faster and harder. The riff is also a complete ripoff of Sweet Home Alabama.
