Bjork is a peace loving being, but conflict is inevitable in life. To me this song sounds like someone who is trying to make peace with an opposing force. It could be romantic, it could be political, it could be mans attempt to sync with nature or god. The point is the the singer is exhausting herself to find some common ground and establish a harmonious relationship. When she sings about eruption it sounds to me like her peaceful efforts have failed and finally she has an outburst of pent up frustrations, much to the surprise of her opponent. |

I know many people think this might be about a dead friend of heres because she said she went to a funeral and wrote it But maybe the references to death and ghost is just a metaphor I know personally i have been in relationships and friendship with people who now are no longer part of my life at all and at times it can feel similar to them being dead maybe being at a funeral made her realize this And sometimes, usually when im alone, i can feel their "ghost" lingering around And sometimes these "dead" people your only willing to "Send vibrations" to when your really bored or desperate to communicate with someone. |

This song can be summed up in one word: Guilt To feel responsible for making things right means you also have to feel responsible for messing things up in the 1st place or at the very least you feel that it was your responsibility to fix things when they mess up An incredible burden that some ppl take upon themselves with this song maybe bjork feels she failed to fix something she was responsible for... perhaps she feels she's failed someone |
