Desired Constellation Lyrics
It's tricky when
You feel someone
Has done
Something on your behalf
It's slippery when
Your sense of justice
Murmurs underneath
And is asking you
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
With a palm full of stars
I throw them like dice
(repeatedly)
On the table
(repeat - repeatedly)
I shake them like dice
And throw them on the table
Repeatedly
(repeatedly)
Until the desired constellation appears
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
(And you hear - how am I going to make it right?)
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
(How am I going to make it right?)
You feel someone
Has done
Something on your behalf
Your sense of justice
Murmurs underneath
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
I throw them like dice
(repeatedly)
(repeat - repeatedly)
I shake them like dice
And throw them on the table
Repeatedly
(repeatedly)
Until the desired constellation appears
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?
How am I going to make it right?

I heard the song live, before the Internet was even showing anything about this song.
I cried. I understand totally how it feels to have someone you trust, do something they think is in your best interest, but it is actually directly against your innermost wish.
When we try to patch things up, we often turn to tarot or other divinations. I like the I Ching. It's unfortunate it was telling me for so long after the fact that there was nothing I could do about it. It takes time for healing, it takes time for growing, it takes time to mature. It even takes time to overgrow obsessiveness. Repeatedly.
That wait is the epitome of excruciating pain.
all i keep thinking about when i listen to this song is tarot cards, or astrology, hence desired constellation...or an eight ball. We keep playing this game of chance until we get what we want to see, the desired constellation. It makes you feel somehow in control..when you really aren\'t.
the first thing i noticed about this song (besides how GORGEOUS it was) was how, in the first line, she used the word "tricky." I know it may be going way out on a limb to say this, but i think it could be a reference to THE tricky (as in her ex). Yes, i'm probably looking too much into it, but she could have used another word in that paragraph...she had to know that it would evoke thoughts like mine...any thoughts?
Wow! I never thought about that! You may be right. All in all, it's such a beautiful song. Hard to imagine that the music in the background is actually Bjork's own voice! :)
this song is so stark and beautiful.
Bjork has an amazing voice! I've been listening to her since when she was in the Sugarcubes... I like this song a lot.
This song is about where you are put in a position where you have to decide, and you have basicly two little creatures on your shoulder, like in a disney movie, One good, and one bad. Its tricky to decide which to listen to.
this is an incredible song. i just love the dark loud 'silence' throughout the song. and her voice just sorta bursts in emotion. i love the lyrics. whenever i listen to it, i can relate to mistakes and problems i've caused and wondering how i am going to fix it. "how am i going to make it right?" it just sings out to my soul and makes me feel not alone.
anyone else think this song might be better as an instrumental? the music is beautiful, the "how am i going to make it right?" bits are good, but the verse lyrics and the melody are so meandering, as if bjork is making it up on the spot, and not doing a good job. i wish i could edit it out.
i cannot describe how this song makes me feel!
" the dark loud 'silence'"
i agree. it is completely terrifying and wonderful
