Girlfriend Lyrics
Tired out, not a miracle in days
Deciders for the lonely whispering tears
You try out for nothing then you drop dead
Not a miracle in years
Leisure for the lonely
Whispering unnecessary unless you're in
Die and succeed
I say it out loud but you just don't care
Farewell, til you know me well
Farewell, til you know me well
Girlfriend
We are far from home, I am with you now
I'm am longing you, I am longing us two
Who bought a miracle sells these fortune tears
December's death or glory how you want it?
No, not a miracle in years
Deciders for the lonely
Wishing death wishes death unless
Die and succeed
I say it out loud but you just don't care
Farewell, til you know me well
Farewell, til you know me well
Girlfriend
Die and succeed
I say it out loud but you just don't care
Girlfriend
Deciders for the lonely whispering tears
You try out for nothing then you drop dead

when i first heard this song, it seemed to me that maybe it was about a guy who was more invested in a relationship than the girl he's with. he's been single/alone for a long time, and then she came around. he's ready to jump in and be with her, but he's not getting the same response. he calls her his girlfriend, but she doesn't exactly consider their relationship that serious, maybe? "i say it outloud but you just don't care." you know, the test of seeing how serious things are with someone you're seeing is to refer to them as your girl/boyfriend and wait for their reaction. haha, i mean, the unspoken test.
and the "farewell 'til you know me well" part always stood out to me as he's going to back off until she decides to step it up and come around.
but the dry spell idea is definitely believable. and an amusing idea for such an upbeat and pretty song.
I think it's just about the normal troubles a guy has with his girlfriend. He says something, tries to be a nice guy, and she just doesn't care because he never says the right thing. She's caught up in her own problems and she doesn't care about him. The relationship is just kinda stuck in a rut.
It just makes me think of a guy rolling his eyes at his girlfriend for never knowing what she wants and constantly going off about stuff, never being happy. He can't take what she says seriously anymore 'cause she's so melodramatic.
The correct lyrics are (taken from the CD sheet):
Tired out, not a miracle in days Deciders for the lonely whispering tears You try out for nothing then you drop dead Not a miracle in years Leisure for the lonely Whispering unnecessary unless you're in
Die and succeed I say it out loud but you just don't care Farewell, til you know me well Farewell, til you know me well Girlfriend

amazing song. great you bought the cd. BUT CDS ARE DEAD. VINYL and digital. VINYL, way better sound quality. Go buy a turntable, and buy this album on vinyl. Sounds a million times better on vinyl

Agreed! A small price for a GREAT sound

Not to shit on your parade, but saying "vinyl sounds better" is a silly blanket statement. Unless you're droppin' a quality needle on your Bang & Olufsen and running it through a classy tube preamp into a proper set of passive speakers, you're not tunnin' in the same analog circuit that you're praising. Whether it's a CD or a vinyl record... that's all the smallest piece of the equation.

I think this song is about the death of his girlfriend which seems she fought a battle she couldn't win.
"Who bought a miracle sells these fortune tears December's death or glory how you want it?"
"die and succeed"
this song is bittersweet. he no longer has to see her suffer and fight the unwinning battle while being by her side. it was a good fight.
"I say it out loud but you just don't care. Farewell, til you know me well"
she's long gone and wouldn't care because she's not here.
don't take it literally.....

I think the song is a bit more carnal and less dramatic than the death of a girlfriend. The word choice is gloomy and sullen, for sure, but I'm convinced this song is about going through a sexual drought, even with your Girlfriend.
"Tired out, not a miracle in days Deciders for the lonely whispering tears You try out for nothing then you drop dead Not a miracle in years Leisure for the lonely Whispering unnecessary unless you're in"
A "Miracle" being with another person in this sense. The lack of such a miracle brings loneliness. "Not a miracle in years" despite "you try out" ("for nothing").
Then there's the line "Farewell, til you know me well." In the biblical sense, to "know" someone is to have had slept with someone. So this line can easily mean: This is goodbye until we sleep together.
But the most telling lines were these:
"We are far from home, I am with you now I'm am longing you, I am longing us two"
My two cents.

i agree. "die and succeed" is talking about sexual climax. 'La petite mort', French for "the little death", is a metaphor for orgasm.

i think his girlfriend is in a coma..
I know, I know: it's serious.
I know, I know: it's serious.
I love the condtradictions in the song. "die and succeed" seems a little suicidal, but i can dig it. that'd make sense though, because being super in love with someone can often be refered to as being "fatal"
great song any way you look at it.
Interesting song :)
This could be interpreted in a lot of ways...but I think it's about a guy breaking up with a girl who doesn't have any aspirations. "You try out for nothing then you drop dead" The line "die and succeed" makes sense to me in the context...that it you have no goals, and you just complain about how bitterly unfair your life is, you might as well die, and that's your success.
I like the coma theory, though...haha
I thought this song is about a guy who is in a job that he hates, but he is succeeding in it. He's not following his dreams, he's just in a dead-end job where nothing extraordinary happens. One day is just like the next, no miracles. He complains to his girlfriend about it, but she doesn't seem to care that he feels like he's trapped in this job (dying inside because of it). She might want him to stay in the job because of the money.

And even though they're together, he's longing for the two of them--maybe how it...
And even though they're together, he's longing for the two of them--maybe how it once was a long time ago when she was more supportive of him.
He finally decides to break up with her (farewell till you know me well)because he wants to pursue his dreams. She's not on board with him following his dreams so he has to move on.
