| Manic Street Preachers – Postcards From A Young Man Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's about a last chance. The young man is in doubt. He wrote and posted so many postcards (this is to be taken literally) but is threatening to stop doing so, to wait for a response. But at the other side he will not give up and will not give in. These postcards tell a sad story, a story of loss & a story of hope! Furthermore, he holds close to what he thinks / believes is true. In his conviction, he will not betray confidence, whilst he is the one letting out his personal information. -------------------------------------- A confirmation for me to post some more letters towards my ex-girlfriend. Fuck you, James Dean! |

YOUR COMPASSION AND HEART ARE BIGGER THAN ANYONE'S IVE EVER SEEN. DONT HOLD BACK, ITS TIME TO REACH YOUR FULL POTENTIAL! YOU HAVE MANY INDIANS TO SAVE YOU FROM THE CORRUPT AND GREEDY! | Dream Theater – Hollow Years Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Aye, I saw these magnificent gentlemen last wednesday live. Best concert of my life! Anyways, additional lyrics added to this song live. Budokan version, not sure. The version I heard, positive. I checked some fragments of the concert and believe James sang the following... Carry me to the shoreline, Bury me in the sand, Walk me across the sand, First lines: In the writing of a tired pen, You'll see the message getting clearer, Maybe you'll understand. Second lines: In the echo of a tired voice, You'll hear the message getting clearer, Maybe you'll have a choice. I like these additions, and they add a lot of possible meaning to this song. "Writing of a tired pen... message getting clearer" Suicide note perhaps? "Echo of a tired voice... hearing the message getting clearer" Don't know from which perspective this can be interpreted. Through prayer perhaps? Amazing song, my favourite by far. First thought they were gonna do the Best of Times version, which is splendid as well. When they "left" without proper applause we all knew they were gonna get back (which band isn't a fucking tease these days?) and played the whole Count of Tuscany. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. |

| Dream Theater – A Rite of Passage Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The reason this song disturbed me slightly is also because of this. Is it mere awareness, condoning or conserving this "rite of passage". Remember that the original musicians in Dream Theater come from a religious (Christian) upbringing, and I see many religious influences in their songs. The father / son relationship can be more platonic than being that of blood alone. Keep in mind that the ancient Illuminati seeking nothing but enlightenment. Perhaps something we'll find when we go through this 2012 time-line every conspiracy nut is talking about. Furthermore, Zeitgeist is utter crap for gullible individuals trying to figure out the greater picture of our existence. Keep on digging into that well of misconception and you'll dwell into the world of people who believe in reptilians and aliens sooner or later, backing up their own silliness with cited sources from other madmen. 9/11 You'll never know /what/ really happened. Gossiping is fun from time to time though. Keep a clear mind, my friend. Spiritual awakening is must sought after, and has a high price for the impatient ones. |

| Dream Theater – The Best of Times Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song makes me cry sometimes... A good thing he could play it to his father before his passing. It completely changed my P.O.V. of Mike's feelings. "There's so much left to see" = "With so much left to see" |

| Dream Theater – The Count of Tuscany Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The end is sooooo incredibly epic. Oh, any Faustian interpretations anyone? I wikipedia'd my ass off on this one without any direct link between the story as well as this count of Tuscany and his relation with Mr. Lecter, or the count's brother where fictional Hannibal was based off. Coincidence he ended up in Florence during the movie / novel? |

Oh, another minor adjustment; Men of wealth and power, Influence and FAME (instead of fate) The brotherhood of wisdom Stregnth and dignity (you mispelled STRENGTH) And on your "greater sense" bit. I'm not completely sure. Could roll either way. "A perfect world(,) a new, life has begun" Interpunction? <-------- Here we are, discussing a pre-released song. Mike Portnoy must hate us now 8D Purely out of interest, how did you get your hands on this song? |

| Dream Theater – A Nightmare to Remember Lyrics | 16 years ago |
STUNNED and bewildered, 100% sure on that one, since starved isn't making much sense How CAN you prepare, for what would HAPPEN next? (you had CAN good, letter M said COULD) Alrighty, onward to the song 8D I guess we'll have another visit of this metaphorical uninvited stranger aka DEATH in another song. The results of this nightmare will as well be displayed in one of the other songs. Also, the "life was so simple then, we were so innocent" will be reaked on. It's almost an Octavarium (the song), with the hospital, the thesis, anti-thesis, the drugs, etc. I'm so happy that there's also the softer melodic ballad bits which made me interested in DT in the first place. Without it, I wouldn't be a fan as I was now. Oh, the progressive nation tour ends in Rotterdam Ahoy, the concert which I will attend, let's hope they film it there, like they do with all the tours, their last concert ^^ Awesome song, a bit dready, but with the whole album I bet it'll fit in... |
| Dream Theater – A Rite of Passage Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Beneath the ever watchful eye The angels of the temple fly" Fallen Angels anyone? Representatives of Lucifer? This has a high conspiracy content, that's for sure. New World Order Brotherhood of Wisdom (clearly the Illuminati) Cornerstone (Freemasonry) "Turn the key walk through the gate The great ascent to reach a higher state A rite of passage" What key, what gate, what ascent and what higher state? The symbolic gates of heaven, protected by Peter? Or a more physical key, and phyical gate leading to an esoteric cult as displayed above? To me, this line is about turning yourself, instead of being led astray of our true goal. "Men of wealth and power Influence and fate Philosphers and leaders Are members of the trade" Conspiracy aka awareness bit. |

"On a broken stairway We say goodbye" Separation of a once close couple? "Between the truth between the lies" Reminds me of "In between a truth and a lie" from "Light in your Heart"... Recyclyricing now are we, Mr Page? ^^ |

(Ed) I can teach you how to dance, how to sing, how to knit, How to make things that you never ever made before Enid, I can teach you how to use cookie cutters To make crazy things out of Play-Doh Little houses, little farms, little accessories for your mom, For your Barbie set, for your friends and your family Enid, I can teach you how to snowmobile, cross-country ski, snowshoe, But I don\'t want to! _____ This is not on my Gordon Album, nor in the booklet of the lyrics =( _____ Now it\'s not fair to say that it\'s \'cause I was three inches shorter then, And it\'s not fair to say it\'s \'cause I was only fifteen years old. _____ Lol, the first line is not talking about penis-size eh? |

A bit of a boring song/story if you ask me, About an artist milking his own success, I bet his once lactating breasts of sweet honey, Are uninspiringly saggy now... |
| Barenaked Ladies – Crazy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Titian: You're crazy ^^ It's about comfort and respect of one's ways. Personally, their best meaningful "pick-you-up" song they have. The "SECRET BIT" as not so secret as being on their Gordon album is a bit funky and multi-interpretable. I'm not touching that wacko jacko bit with a 10-feet pole... |
| Barenaked Ladies – Bank Job Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Barenaked Ladies songs sway many ways. Bank Job = a plan spawned from humanity's greed. Crisis of Conscience = a person who overcame/limited his greed. The Rest = perspective of how society deals with these people. Phone Part = inserted love/relation element for the lonelies out there. Cleverly deceptive and literally brilliant as usual. |

| Barenaked Ladies – Who Needs Sleep? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Please please please, put a minor effort in your spelling and grammatics... During my insomniac period as a 18 year old (allergic + wrongly diagnosed medication), I was watching National Geographic + Discovery Channel until sunrise, thinking I would actually learn at night and could slack off more during the day. ^^ It kinda backfired since I couldn't soak up information as easily as before, and my mental status has never been the same after once and for all rejecting all forms of pharmaceutical (such a dirty word) treatment. Who needs sleep? I believe it IS important to rest physically as well as mentally. Agree or disagree at heart, 100% for certain that "the guy who's been awake since the WWII" is a lunatic ^^ |

Ah well, perhaps it was Eddie Money's Take me Home Tonight then :D This song means a lot for me and is one of my personal favourites from the boss. Still doubting whether to see him this year at a festival... Moments like these are surely swaying me to the postal office for that ticket ^^ |

| Barenaked Ladies – Brian Wilson Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Indeed, Rock Spectacle's one is masterfullyplayed. Ever tried the one at some Canadian festival? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCJcdX1_0L4 Keywords for youtube: Barenaked Ladies /Pinch Me Brian Wilson/ I always thought that the order of songs played then had a special meaning ^^ Imagine mixing it up with other titles: These Apples, Brian Wilson. You will be waiting, Brian Wilson. Empathy / sympathy / reflection of similar feelings beardy went through. All in all, despite his genius, Brian Wilson is a sad man in my eyes... |

| Lady GaGa – Just Dance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Commercial trash and neocultural propaganda. | |
| Spandau Ballet – True Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ohms: wikipedia says the following about how the bandname came to be... "The term Spandau Ballet may have two likely origins: referring to the spasms of Nazi war prisoners as they "danced at the end of the rope", when they were hanged at Spandau Prison, or according to others, referring to lines of enemies being gunned down by the infamous WW2 German machine gun MG42 "Spandau" (both origins pointing anyway to the same macabre Nazi heritage). This is a contentious point. The more likely source of the name came in fact from graffiti on the wall of a lavatory in The Venue, London (Victoria) in 1978/9, where members of the originally named band worked" |

| Martin Page – The Door Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Beautiful heartbreaking song about the memories of a holocaustsurvivor. To overcome, to endure and to never forgive the tragedy that befell millions of people during WWII. By far, this song has influenced me the most from all of MP's songs. Still, I wonder how this song came to be after I heard "Heroes never Die" from Q-feel (MP was bassist + singer in this band). Talking about your heavy war-propaganda ^^ |

| Dream Theater – Sacrificed Sons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's about the hate we put in our children, both ways. Christians, Muslims, Jews all growing up telling that /our/ faith is the one which is correct, that others are wrong and being mislead. This going to a content that we even speak ill of others. Investing hate, disgust and misunderstanding into our future. Of course, after 9/11 the common scapegoat was the Islam. Many riots occurred and many mosques were burned down in the city where I live, as well as over the whole country. (The Netherlands) Swastika’s were drawn on houses where Muslims live and beat downs happened daily. To have a better understanding of the Scripture (this is related to Biblical Scripture) similarities between religions must be pointed out and not all the differences. I mean, we all have a common ancestor (Abraham) and the three major known religious branches are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. (Leaving out Buddhism, Hinduism and tribal religions…) Can you imagine that the sons of Abraham were quarreling like we are doing now? The situation in the Middle-East and the State of Israel has caused many grief for both ways, grief that’s turned into hate and retaliation to the ones they feel guilty for their grief. The day that the children of Jews, Muslims and Christians are playing together will be such a glorious day. A reunion and realization that our ancestors were brothers, that we’re of the same blood and that we have had, and still have, a common father, be it Abraham or our God above. I’ll pray for this to happen tonight. God be with you all. |

| Dream Theater – The Ministry of Lost Souls Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"The Ultimate Sacrifice" Jesus Christ dying for us, even in death he gave us life. All river styx and purgatory mythical speculation aside (purgatory has not a single mentioning in the Bible! It was made up by Catholics to answer the question whether a noble and goodhearted man would enter heaven even though he has never heard of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Catholics made purgatory up as a resort where "lost souls" would reside until given access to heaven) My first thought was the one about purgatory, secondguessed the drowning story, WHICH MADE SENSE, but not as much to explain the bond of the Victim and the Savior and especially not the emotional position the Savior is in. (Since Jesus' didn't officially die.) "I wanted to Deserve a place A place beside you This time when I reached out my hand It reached all the way to heaven" Clearly the religious context comes from this part. And yes, the abstinence of following the Gospel is indeed listed in the last two chapters. Sadly, most of Dream Theaters' songs have this subjext... Perhaps the bandmembers are going through rough times and dealing with religious topics in their songs. |

| Dream Theater – Forsaken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Thanks for agreeing with me, cyberskelet0n. Dream Theater is very cryptic, and Christian views are ofcourse seen as a weakness in the metal Godhating (or is it Godfearing) industry. Perhaps, through lyrics and interpretations they can somehow fit in into their songs. Blind Faith is another one, and every song said by bandmembers related to a father-figure has a similar meaning. |

| Dream Theater – Forsaken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ganpondorodf: your interpretation may not be someone else's vampire could ofcourse be a metaphor for Jesus / God This song made me realise there was more to Dream Theater besides metal music, metaphorical lyrics and vague textstructures. There's a lot more to it if you study it a tad more closely. The complete album is about a re-awakening, storytelling at it's finest, ofcourse severely incrypted in the lyrics, but the story is there. The connection of the songs are not only musically (In the Presence part 1 + 2), it's a vicious cycle from the perspective of an occultist, once Christian, bound to be "born again". Systematic Chaos, the title alone has been elusive to me thusfar. Must be our untempted nature... |
| Dream Theater – Don't Look Past Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Definitely about God... No wonder it was disallowed on the album, Dream Theater is metal, supposably performed by christian musicians, yeah sure. I hope tha selling your souls was a bitter experience. Jesus loves you, James, John, John, Mike and Jordan. Never forget it... |

| Rod Stewart – Baby Jane Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Baby Jane is a selfconscience gold-digging whore seducing and using the person from whom's perspective Rod sings. Classic storytelling... Literally all his songs make me second-guess whether it's about him or someone else. |

Axl Rose is the opposite of passion... His ability to rape any given song is legendary already. Old age + drugs have taken up their toll. Ah well, he had his era along with the rest of the band, no wonder they left the GnR formation when such a person is in charge. I can imagine anyone else would have done the same. |

Jim is indeed an awesome underrated and sadly underused vocalist in the Ladies... For further reference of his vocals, he released a few albums with his brother and former bandmember Andy Creeggan under the Creeggan Brothers... Anna on the Moon is soooo beautiful and definitely worth listening. The song is all gibberish to me, I can listen to it all day but I would still be stuck on the lyrics... |

| Scorpions – Send Me An Angel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Land of the Morning Star is according to a quick google search an island in the region near Malesia called West Papua. I found a link that described the 250 different languages spoken and colonial wars fought over there. Of course, when Land of the Morning Star is broken down to pieces, Morning Star would be Lucifer decending from heaven and coming to planet earth... Further interpretations as mentioned above are irrelevant. "Land of the Spiked Mace"? "Land of the Planet Venus?" ^^ The biblical references are very clear in this song. Sometimes a bit more cryptical than others. "Promised land" is the one standing out the most. "Finding your place in the eye of the storm" is about balance, neither be swept right or left, up or down. "Seek the roses along the way, just beware of the thorns" could be a forbidden fruit reference, otherwise it would be a passage from the Bible; 1 Tess 5; 17 "Test everything. Hold on to the good." First couplet is a more like warning so we can prepare, it will be hard, but if we follow our hearts it will turn out right. Definitely the most passionate and beautiful song from Scorpions. Never thought that Germans had more than Slagermusick until I heard Scorpions ^^ |
