Sailing Lyrics
I am sailing, I am sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
I am flying, I am flying,
like a bird 'cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.
Can you hear me, can you hear me
thro' the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
Can you hear me, can you hear me,
thro' the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free,
Oh Lord.
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
like a bird 'cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.
thro' the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
thro' the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free,
Oh Lord.

Rotflmao...that muist have been funny to see. How ironic.
I was singing this when on my dads boat just before it broke down and we had to be rescued......its still a great tune though, despite the constant reminder of that traumatic day!
WOW! :O
WOW! :O
Wow thats such a good story, glad you lived to tell the tale. I love this song, my parents used to sing it together when I was like three...then I forgot about Rod, now everytime I play it, I think of my parents. Its beautiful.
Hehe. Gotta love irony. My ex told me to download this last night coz he said it was really sad. I was highly amused when I listened to it for the first time, but I've listened to it a few times since and now I think it's just beautiful. ^_^
I never heard Rod Stewart’s version of this song, but was fortunate enough to hear Axl Rose’s acoustic version from a UK club appearance last year (it is available on Youtube) and it blew me away. It is such a passionate song.
Axl Rose is the opposite of passion... His ability to rape any given song is legendary already. Old age + drugs have taken up their toll. Ah well, he had his era along with the rest of the band, no wonder they left the GnR formation when such a person is in charge. I can imagine anyone else would have done the same.
this song came on the radio when my mum & i were talking. i instantly fell inlove with it. the meaning of this is obvious. it's beautiful
good song but the lyrics arent fully correct. Can you hear me, can you hear me thro' the dark night, far away, I am dying, forever crying, to be with you, who can say.
Can you hear me, can you hear me, thro' the dark night far away. I am dying, forever crying, to be with you, who can say.
thats the correct wordings there

Forget Rod, the original is better...
