I always though the shrinking universe sounded more like someones done something and has severely limited their choices, kind of being backed into a corner and its no fault but their own and they just need to accept it. 'you're the god of a shrinking universe' perhaps something extreme like someone being slowly cornered by police or whatever after murdering someone or committing massive fraud. |

someone who sees some bad things in society he lives in. it isn't meant to be 100% literal like most of E's songs, just I think, meant to be a pastiche of he thinks are just some things that get him down about the society he lives in, susan is a friend or girlgfriend or whatever who makes the world seem a better place, sooths him just being around her, keeping his mind off the bad stuff, I can relate. |

well, its obvious the song is about achilles, the whole film is about how he craves immortality through the ages in stories as a fearless hero. agree with de7ilznite it is very moving. 'I will never die...' I love the kinda eastern female vocalist in the background! Its like hes acheived his goal, but not in the very brutal masculine way you presume he will at the begining because his charactor falls in love with the princess of troy, I guess you feel hes reached his goal it kinda leaves a silence at the end of the film...a bit like the last sonnet of romeo and juliet *sigh* good song :thumbup: |
