Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics 17 years ago
And it's 'Face right down to the practice room'

Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics 17 years ago
Jut listened again, and it's definitely 'Hitmen wearin muzzles'

Pavement – Cut Your Hair Lyrics 17 years ago
I've always thought it was:

Charge it like a puzzle
Hitmen wearin' muzzles
Hesitate, you die

I love that imagery, of hitmen wearing muzzles- and it fits really well with 'hesitate, you die'.

And it's definitely:

i don't remember lyin'
i don't remember a line
i don't remember a word
but i don't care...

Pavement – Home Lyrics 18 years ago
It's interesting to hear the difference between the original recorded version and the live one on the luxe and reluxe bonus disc- with the laid-back flat noise of the original and the raw, more emotionally driven performance on luxe. Personally I prefer the latter, but the original is also great.

Pavement – So Stark (You're a Skyscraper) Lyrics 18 years ago
I have no idea how I never made the spiral stairs connection. I will hit myself.

I think it might be about a girl who has humble begins but blossoms (she's a real debutante) into a social-ladder climbing golddigger but then finds that her life of luxury leaves her bored and empty,

Pavement – Elevate Me Later Lyrics 18 years ago
I always thought the first line was
"Well you're greeted with tokens and stamps"
and
"I'd like to check out your bumbling protest"
But I guess I'm probably wrong.

Pavement – Transport Is Arranged Lyrics 18 years ago
Except when i sing along I change "Cremate the crutch" to "I want a creme egg to crush" cos it's funnier.

The Cure – Trap Lyrics 18 years ago
i totally disagree with jancsibohoc. It probably works for both men and women. It's the feeling of being in a relationship where the partner has been consumed with setting little traps, 'testing' the other's love and waiting around to pounce on every mistake. It's the feeling of being pushed away by such behaviour and ceasing to give a fuck.

Pavement – Secret Knowledge of Backroads Lyrics 18 years ago
I tried to be as accurate as possible with these lyrics, but corrections are welcome. Really thought it deserved to be up here cos it's probably among the most beautiful songs pavement ever did, it's got a great melancholy quality to it. Lyrically it's standard cryptic SM, but it seems to allude to a musician who's success is all behind him and is on a downward spiral or something.

The Cure – Bananafishbones Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that makes 2 salinger references on the top... in the title track smith sings "walking these gorgeous blocks", which I think is paraphrased from Catcher in the Rye.

submissions
The Cure – Club America Lyrics 18 years ago
This is definitely my favourite song from WMS, the guitar during "you're such a wonderful person...etc" sounds a lot like 'The Man Who Sold the World' by David Bowie.

Pavement – Transport Is Arranged Lyrics 19 years ago
I like how absurd it is to suggest that SM has ever been taught by a voice coach, that line makes me laugh every time. This is one of my favourite pavement songs.

submissions
Damon Albarn – Herculean Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's "standing on the dark canal", it's part of the 'dirty old town' reference in the first two lines. On the site, it actually says 'old canal', which is directly out of DOT, but it definitely sounds more like dark canal.

Morrissey – The Youngest Was The Most Loved Lyrics 19 years ago
Um, Mozza fan, see the line: "A small boy from a poor house"

submissions
Franz Ferdinand – Jeremy Fraser Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is great. It'd be very cool if this indicated the direction for the new album.

submissions
Pulp – The Night That Minnie Timperley Died Lyrics 19 years ago
This is an amazing song. I'm surprised no one has commented. Uber sure it's about a girl whogoes to a rave and is murdered by a creepy middle aged guy in a car.

submissions
Graham Coxon – You & I Lyrics 19 years ago
I love graham Coxon. This isn't the best song off his new album, but then again every one is briliant.

submissions
Pulp – The Birds in Your Garden Lyrics 19 years ago
" Oh, come on, touch her inside. "
Beautiful line, could sound sleazy but it doesn't.

Pulp – Wickerman Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is just amazing. He's following the river through the passage of his life. There's a certain amount of child-like fascination that the river is even there. It's so beautifu; and life-affirming.

Graham Coxon – Bittersweet Bundle of Misery Lyrics 19 years ago
Blur are great, Think Tank was great, Coxon is great.

The Smiths – I Don't Owe You Anything Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it might be the weakest on their first album, but l bet I'll eat my words in like a weak when it has grown on me.

submissions
Kaiser Chiefs – Team Mate Lyrics 19 years ago
Aww it's not on my version of the album.

submissions
Kaiser Chiefs – Modern Way Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about consumer culture. It's very blur/pulp. My favourite on the album, followed by OMG.

Blur – I'm Just a Killer for Your Love Lyrics 19 years ago
letmebe's suggestion is very valid. It sound slike it would work a charm.

Blur – Death of a Party Lyrics 19 years ago
There are some clear references to AIDS:

The death of the teenager
Standing on his own
Why did he bother?
Should have slept alone

But I don't think that's all it's about.

Blur – To the End Lyrics 20 years ago
And his accent is easy to understand.

Arctic Monkeys – A Certain Romance Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm not a huge fan, but this is an excellent song. Very Pulp-esque. Also reminds me of Essex Dogs by Blur.

submissions
Blur – Day Upon Day Lyrics 20 years ago
I really want to do a cover of this song, only make it sound better (it's not blur's finest hour).

submissions
Blur – I Know Lyrics 20 years ago
This is quite a nice song that I just discovered on the US version of Leisure, it's no substitute for Sing, though ('Sing' isn't on the US version).

submissions
The Smiths – Frankly, Mr. Shankly Lyrics 20 years ago
I don't know why, but this is one of my favourite Smiths songs.

submissions
Gorillaz – Slow Country Lyrics 20 years ago
This is my favourite Gorillaz song. It almost has a reggae feel but I hate reggae, it 's like reggae, trip hop and music hall all in one. Damon is a genius.

submissions
Suede – My Insatiable One Lyrics 20 years ago
Yeah I agree with fourganger there...

submissions
Blur – Birthday Lyrics 20 years ago
probably one of the silliest blur songs ever.

submissions
Blur – I'm Just a Killer for Your Love Lyrics 20 years ago
Really awesome song.

submissions
Blur – Look Inside America Lyrics 20 years ago
And the whole world
Could pass through me
But I don't know if it means much to me

The way Damon sings that is just brill.

submissions
Blur – You're So Great Lyrics 20 years ago
He has to, it's te law. Think Tank was brilliant but I doon't think they could do something like that again.

submissions
Blur – M.O.R. Lyrics 20 years ago
It's about both those thing, it's about sticking with blur as mates throughout the highs and lows of the music industry. Wish Graham would listen to this...

submissions
The Cure – A Forest Lyrics 20 years ago
This sogn has a very german feel to it. In the clip Robert has no make-up and his trademark hair is absent.

submissions
The Cure – The Walk Lyrics 20 years ago
I always thought it was about a relationship between two people in a mental assylum (passed the howling woman). The narrator simply has some sort of dementia, whereas the firl has down's syndrome (I saw you look like a japanese baby). Although people with down's syndrome don't generally go to assylums.

submissions
Blur – Brothers and Sisters Lyrics 20 years ago
That's exactly what I thought, that this was covering similar ground to chemical world!

submissions
Blur – Sing Lyrics 20 years ago
It's on Leisure, but I think they were asked to write it for trainspotting a bit before the film was made.

submissions
Blur – Coffee & TV Lyrics 20 years ago
Graham's vocals really add a certain vulnerability you couldn't get with Damon.

submissions
Blur – Battle Lyrics 20 years ago
Does Graham sing the verses?

submissions
Blur – Oily Water Lyrics 20 years ago
Woah, this is hands-down my least favourite blur song ever. It would be a nice trip if graham did his usual brilliant job of blowing it open but he doesn't, it's just far too long and really doesn't fit on MLIR at all.

submissions
Blur – Coffee & TV Lyrics 20 years ago
The organ piece at the end doesn't work if you're not listening to it on the album or watching the video. I think the organ piece is brilliant and works very well if you are listening to the album, which is probably why they cut it for Best Of.

submissions
Blur – Crazy Beat Lyrics 20 years ago
I reckon 'Me, White Noise' shouldn't have been a secret track and would have made an excellent single.

submissions
Blur – Crazy Beat Lyrics 20 years ago
This, along with maybe gene by gene, is one of the weakest tracks on an otherwise brilliant record. It's an alright song, but not representative of the album at all.

submissions
Blur – Bang Lyrics 20 years ago
Blur hate this song, having written it in 15 minutes after they were asked to write another hit. Whatever problems it has, it feels very Stephen Street and is in some ways an indication of their future lyrical direction.

submissions
Blur – Caramel Lyrics 20 years ago
Like just about every song on 13 (and most blur songs) this is really beautiful. It seems to be about trying to reach a better state after the end of a relationship but also holding on to it in a way (like when you eat a rolo and still have a bit of caramel left on your collar, even though the rolo is finished).

submissions
Blur – Tracy Jacks Lyrics 20 years ago
This is pretty much THE classic blur song.
