Look Inside America Lyrics

Good morning lethargy
Drink pepsi is good for energy
The bath's on, smoke in the bedroom
Sore throat and on my neck a nasty bruise
Where it came from, well I don't know
We played last night, it was a good show

Got the play out, second rate chatshow
It's a nation wide deal, so you gotta go
Chuck from the company says it will be alright
Got an ad on KROQ
And there's an in-store tonight
Well I build things up
Then I let them go
Got to get time share on the radio

Look inside America, she's alright, she's alright
Sitting out the distance
But I'm not trying to make her mine
Looking for America
With its kooky nights and suicide
Where the TV says it's alright
Coz' everybody's hung up on something or other

Steppin' off in 20, so the driver says
I should sleep tonight
But I think I'll watch videos instead
Annie Hall leaves NY in the end
Press rewind and Woody gets her back again
And the whole world could pass through me
But I don't know if it means much to me

Look inside America
She's alright, she's alright
Sitting out the distance
But I'm not trying to make her mine
Looking for America
With its kooky nights and suicide
Where the TV says it's alright
Coz everybody's strung out on something or other

And the whole world
Could pass through me
But I don't know if it means much to me

I guess it's just about the experience they've had with America while they were on tour. He states everything that is so typical for America, or at least they are to him.

ive just had another listen to the song and i think its about how damion went to america recently and its a kind of oppology to america for slaging it off so much on the parklife album. hes saying "im not saying america is good, but it isnt as bad as i made out"

I think this song is fantastic:

After all those years of trashing America, Blur has a song that states: "I'm still not crazy about America, but I'm sorry; just go on and live and let live.

My Opinion

I have no idea, but it kicks ass!

Its a song about being in Amerika with some parodies for Oasis. Oasis was trying hard to da well in the states, but they never were accepted. I thinks thats what "Standing in a distance, but I dont try to make her mine" means.

As blur are from europe they see the big problems america has better than the US people. The song is great again. I love it.

ha ha ha, sorry it makes me laugh Gorb, that ur oviously not from britain with the quote "As blur are from europe" britain may be part of europe, but dont try to claim any credit for blur, they are a very british band and took part in the 90's and the culture known as 'britt-pop' it was nothing to do with europe, it was a rebelion against conservitive rule.

but 'Look Inside America' is a beautiful song.

interesting ideas darth, i quite agree!!! i think the song is beautiful too.. unexpectedly so considering the subject matter... it's not the most glamorous of topics is it? but damon just has a magical way with words, he really does. i can get into the mood of this song so easily.. what a fantastic writer. "good morning lethargy" indeed!

ps. i think the annie hall line is so sweet :)

And the whole world Could pass through me But I don't know if it means much to me

The way Damon sings that is just brill.

What I love about this song is that the lyrics are about America but the production is so British, so...Beatle-y! The bass playing and the guitar are straight out of Abbey Road. Brilliant tune, brilliant arrangement, brilliant lyrics, love it!!!
