| Weezer – Can't Stop Partying (feat. Lil Wayne) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
You people need to have more faith in weezer. It's not glorifying the party lifestyle; it's a call for help from someone who can't stop partying. It's supposed to be sad. The music is a parody of modern party songs. My favorite version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8uw6D9nTPY |

| Weezer – Tragic Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Thanks for the correction, Baron. | |
| Weezer – Ruling Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song definitely grew on my since I first heard it. The chorus is very happy-sounding about daydreaming of someone. Life is better when you have a love interest to think about all day and night. The verses are more serious though, and progress throughout the song. The first verse narrates going after a girl who is playing hard to get, but he likes it and he's just having fun. The second verse shows signs of serious emotion, even pleading with the girl not to "play" him, despite initially wanting to "play" the girl. With the bridge, the narrative turns even further as Rivers belts out that he isn't kidding anymore like he was in verse 1. The narrator goes from lightheartedly daydreaming about "a touch that may never come" to actually needing the girl. It kinda perfectly describes my relationship with my latest ex. | |
| Burden Brothers – Beautiful Night Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think the reason so many people have being listening to it as a feel-good song is because it sounds to me like he's trying to be optimistic while in obvious despair. "Maybe tonight we'll find peace. God, I hope so." | |
| The Thermals – We Were Sick Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| "Bred all we could," not "read" | |
| Weezer – So Low Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I believe the correct lyric is this: "This time I want to cry and be alone" It's about how after a bad breakup and you can't stop thinking about your ex and you just wish you were never together in the first place. |
|
| Weezer – Run Over By A Truck Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I used to think this was kind of a depressing message, being unmotivated and devastated about something like a breakup. But then I looked closer. The "run over by a truck" feeling is love. He's so overcome with love that it feels like a truck. The verses are about how he used to not be tied down, go from girl to girl, sing his songs, and play his sports. But when he met his wife he fell down hard on his bended knee. He doesn't care about anything else but his love. |
|
| Weezer – I'm Your Daddy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Yeah, you're right: Rivers came up with the phrase "You are my baby tonight, and I'm your daddy" the night his daughter was born. Strange that he ended up turning it into, like you said, a song about being smitten. | |
| Weezer – Trippin' Down The Freeway Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The freeway is the road life and love, as Geemers said. It's not a smooth, easy road though. There are gonna be bumps and potholes along the way that may trip you up and have you stumbling, but a couple has to learn to get back up and keep going, no matter how many times they fall. | |
| B.o.B – I'll Be In The Sky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Coming to terms with mortality. And the line is "they wanna sip Jack," not "they wanna sit back" |
|
| Brother Ali – Faheem Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This is obviously about Ali's son, Faheem. It's an apology to Faheem for every bad thing, a celebration of everything good, but above all an ode to their father-son bond. It's pretty powerful, especially the line where he says he would give up his music for his son. | |
| B.o.B – Nothin' On You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It's about being in love. Sure, you know there are other girls who other people might find just as beautiful or more beautiful than your girl, but nothing compares in your mind to the girl you're in love with. Every other girl looks like a 1 when the girl you love is a 10 in your mind. | |
| The Beach Boys – That's Not Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| He left everything he knew, including his girl, for his dream. Now he realizes his dream is pointless if he doesn't have everything he loves. But he doesn't regret it, because now he's "that much more sure" that he needs his girl. | |
| The Thermals – I Let it Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this is about losing love and hating the idea of being in love, then realizing that you need love. Losing love makes you feel "lost" and "hurt," and like you're "swimming in circles of circles in the last place (you) wanted to be," or not being able to escape the lost and lonesome feelings. You thought love was keeping you up, but then came to believe that it was strangling you, relating it to death, as the opposite of live in "love or live". "I walked in the dark..." is about being lost without love and feeling hatred. Then you realize that the hate was only hurting you, and you have to learn to let the hate go, realizing that you actually do need love, this time relating it to life. |
|
| Weezer – Hot Tub Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
No, this song isn't by Homie. Rivers wrote it in '93, and Homie much later used it. River's home demo is much better IMO, sole reason being the incredible bridge, which adds so much more to the song. It's about a player-type character who seems to have one-night stands or short relationships with no real emotional attachment, and he is begging for a real relationship with real love. The bridge encompasses the whole meaning-- He realizes his relationships are fake, that he wants to find love, but that it's a problem that he isn't in a HUGE rush to solve. |
|
| Weezer – I Can Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree that it is about a girl who came along and showed him he could love, but not that he never had love in his life. I took this as after a very hard break up, he thought he could never love again, that he would have "never learned to heal" is it weren't for her. | |
| Weezer – (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
You're right; it's gotta be "girl," not "go." I guess I like "go" better, so that's what my brain heard haha. But anyway, this song meaning seems it obvious to me-- a childhood narrative in lieu of Troublemaker. Catchy as hell, but in my opinion doesn't sound much like Weezer at all. |
|
| Weezer – King Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song is the long-needed self-evaluation of an asshole. The "One night at the disco..." verse is an incident of rejection which sets off this self-evaluation. He thought he was King, but "some dude" took the lady he was eying, resulting the in taking a look at himself and asking, is he really King? The second verse is where the self-evaluation starts. "I see you come here..." is not talking about someone else; he is talking to himself. He realizes he can't keep acting like this, going to clubs, drinking, chasing after women, making an overall ass of himself, basically being a "bro." But the chorus comes in. His egotistical manner takes over again, and he reinforces his previous belief that he is King. I take this two ways: either he really is reverting to his previous way of thinking, or maybe the chorus is what he is projecting, but the verses are his inner thoughts and regrets. He knows he shouldn't act this way, and he's sorry for it, but he can't stop. The song continues on in this manner, verse being regretful and self-evaluating, while the chorus reverts to his asshole attitude. He wants to stop pretending to be King and "act like a grown man," but can't because either he truly does feel like he is King, or he realizes he has dug himself in too deep a hole, surrounding himself with "losers" and "babies," and thus has no one to pull him out, as enforced by his final repetitions, "I'm King, I'm King, I'm King..." almost like he has to convince himself that he truly is King. |

| Weezer – Holiday Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
@ Title Track: "Ya know, Brian and Pat have been in the band just as long as he has." Actually, no, Brian has not been in the band as long as Rivers. Pat is the only other current member that was in since the beginning. Before you call someone else stupid, make sure you check your facts. |

| Rivers Cuomo – Chess Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"Ever confusing the issue" not "Ever confusing me, too" |

| Weezer – It's Easy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| it's definitely brian--- especially after he sang it for the aol thing | |
| Weezer – Troublemaker Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "I'll sack the quarterback and jack the brother of the ball." is what I heard too, but I don't get the whole "brother of the ball" part. I'll put in for now, but I guess we'll find out for sure in a week. | |
| The Thermals – I Might Need You To Kill Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I hear "Lashes and grins" not "Ashes and friends" | |
| Weezer – The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Thanks for the corrections everybody. Anyone have anything different than "Hey, this is what I like/Cut my heart with a modern spike."? Those last two words were a total guess ("modern spike"). |

| Shakira – Hips Don't Lie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
loop-to-loop: how is shakira being americanized? the video concept is the carnival. and for those talking about "dance like this" being like "hips dont lie", shakira's lyric parts are different and it has a reggaeton beat. and it goes in different order. other than that, it's the same. this song is my least favorite shakira song, and definately the worst on OF2. but i still like it (even if the lyrics are embarrassing). |
|
| Shakira – Hey You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this is one of my favorite shaki songs. the meanings pretty clear: she wants someone that is playing hard to get. shes willing to do anything to be part of his life. |
|
| Weezer – Photograph Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
its about a blowjob dont believe me? check it out: "If you want it, you can have it But you've got to learn to reach out there and grab it" "Shooting" "It's more than I can take I could never get enough" "that you blow it" "'Cause everybody wants some" "It's more than I can take I could never let it go" "If blew it, don't reject it Just keep drawing up the plans and re-erect it" |

| the only thing we have is the version on the vcd(very low quality), but karl confirmed these lyrics. | |
| Weezer – Oh No This Is Not For Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i dont think its "oh dont go". im pretty sure karl confirmed it was "wuan danno/youll feel ok in the morning". correct me if im wrong. im not 100 percent positive. and to stryker, rivers said there are a bunch of little interlude pieces that are very short. this is most likely one of them. i love this song even if it is super short. |

| Weezer – My Name Is Jonas Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i hate when people say the lyrics are random. i think its about how when youre a kid, youd do anything to be a grown up, and when youre grown up, youd do anything to be a kid again. i agree for the most part with switchfootfreak "My name is Jonas I'm carrying the wheel" his name is jonas, a child, and he is directing and is in control of his life. "Thanks for all you've shown us But this if how we feel" hes thankful for what he has learned and what people have shown him, but he feels that being something else would be better. "Come sit next to me Pour yourself some tea Just like grandma made When we couldn't find sleep Things were better then Once but never again" fast forword 20 years or so. someone is listening to his problems, like they used to when he couldnt fall asleep. he is reflecting as an adult about childhood. how great it was, but itll never be that good again. "We've all left the den Let me tell you 'bout it" when we grow up, we leave the protection of our family. when i read "left the den" i think of a wolf den. when the baby wolf grows up, it leaves its den where it was protected, into the wilderness where it has to fend for itself. stupid analogy, but thats just how i think of it. "The choo-choo train left right on time A ticket cost only your mind The driver said 'hey man, we go all the way' Of course we were willing to pay." now, back to childhood. using childish words like "choo choo train" instead of just "train" to show its a kid, he is "willing to pay" to be an adult, or "go all the way" in life "My name is wepeel I gotta box full or your toys They're fresh out of batteries But they're still makin' noise" now that hes grown up, he is a different person. hes not jonas anymore, hes wepeel. he has memories or his childhood, or toys. "theyre fresh outta batteries" - theres no hope of going back. "but theyre still makin noise" - there are still strong memories of them. "Tell me what to do Now the tank is dry Now the wheel is flat" he has no direction in his life and if asking what to do. he has no will to move on ("tank is dry"), and even if he did, he still has obsticles (a wheel being flat, stopping him from moving along) "And you know what else?" in a kind of complaining way, that there are too many things going on. "Guess what I received In the mail today Words of deep concern From my little brother" put simply, he has problems filling up his life "The building's not goin' as it's planned" being an adult isnt as great as he had thought as a kid. "The foreman has injured his hand" again, he has no direction in his life. a foreman is someone who has control over workers, so with the leader and controller out, the workers are left on their own. "The dozer will not clear its path" fits with the foreman, there is not path for him to follow, he has no direction. "The driver swears he learned his math" again, life as an adult isnt was he thought it would be as a kid. "The workers are goin' Home!" he has given up. |

| Weezer – Little Sister Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
no comments? awesome song on the version i have, rivers says its about girls that follow him around and write down information about him that he would rather his mother not see so yeah its pretty clear theyre being annoying like a little sister "Coming down with diseases And all the people can see I'm coming down with diseases and the people laugh at me" this isnt what its about, but when i heard this i immediately remember a joke on the boards about how he had crabs ("coming down with diseases") |

|
"CortlandShanks is a freakin genius" accept his whole interpretation of the song is wrong |
|
| Weezer – We Are All on Drugs Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| no, rivers does not have a drug abuse problem. no, this is not an anti-drug song. it isn't even about drugs. rivers says over and over in interviews not to take it literally. he says it's not about drugs but other things in life that can be addicting. they arent cheesy lines about gettin high and not gettin high. | |
| Weezer – Fun Time Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i really like this song. it sounds so much like homie. | |
| Weezer – This Is Such A Pity Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Weezer – Beverly Hills Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
before i said the song is about not fitting in, and some one said \"it is not about fitting in, it is about how fake people can be.\" i forget who said that, but to prove i am right, read this: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/7249178?rnd=1114221646760&has-player=true&version=6.0.12.1040 the last sentance has rivers saying he could live in beverly hills but would never belong or fit in. |

| Weezer – Hash Pipe Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| and rivers did say this is about a transvestite hooker from santa monica | |
| Weezer – Hash Pipe Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| ok, i agree this album sucks compared to blue and pinkerton, but i think its still better than any other band can do. | |
| Weezer – Beverly Hills Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Brian said in a rolling stones article that Make Believe is gonna be a mix of blue and pinkerton with some maladroit solos. Karl said that this song is totally different from the rest of Make Believe, so calm down. | |
| Weezer – Beverly Hills Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this song is great. i think it's about not fitting in and feeling out of place. thats probably how rivers always feels. |
|
| Weezer – Beverly Hills Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| if the rest of A5 is this good, Make Believe will be amazing | |
| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
ok, hedgemon is the smartest person to right on this forum. i got something to say to you posers: if you don't like America, leave and don't come back. we don't need or want you here. and for those of you who don't live in America: Stay out of this, you retards. If you live in Europe, think about this: Your country still owes the U.S. over 60 billion dollars from WWI and WWII. So quit bitching. Face it...Green Day are posers now. |
|
| Weezer – Modern Dukes Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i really don't know why people don't like green or maladroit. they are both awesome. if there is a weezer song that isn't at least great, i haven't heard it, and never will, because its impossible. rivers is a genius. i love this song. there is a different verse and chorus that rivers plays once sometimes. you can get the video of it on weezer.com. it goes something like this, but i'm not positive: can we move along to a place where our minds are suited best and see whether we'll force our way to the top of all the rest give me some room, let me help you, ask the captain, driving the boat it's so easy, we can breathe free, strong together, tougher than all |
|
| Weezer – Hash Pipe Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i love this song. i agree with nametakenxox - all weezer is amazing weezer. i heard rivers wrote this and dope nose while he was under the influence of riddelin for his a.d.d. and tequila. i can't wait til album 5! | |
| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i used to be a huge green day fan. but i got really mad when i heard this song. all green day is doing here is riding the whole "anti-bush" wave that nofx and bad religion set up. i am not anti-bush and don't care for the people who are. i liked the old don't-give-a-crap green day much better. but, whatever, it's just my opinion. | |
