| Reggie and the Full Effect – Better For You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I don't think he is saying that another guy is "better for you than me." He's saying that the breakup is "better for you than me." Slight correction on the second verse: Now sorry never saves your mind I never wanted to be Separate, you're far from my eyes Heaven knows whatever made me |

| Reggie and the Full Effect – Everything's Okay Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song strikes me as James in love...lots of humor in this one... "I knew you couldn't make me go away" and "You always diss me on your phone" ... he paints a picture that the girl is sort of a dick to him (in a sarcastic way), but he likes her a lot and maybe even finds the trait endearing. Driving her car, being cheap, eating ramen, being "friends first." This is pretty much a joyous puppy love song...lots of innocence here. Childlike, almost... I love this song. | |
| Kid Cudi – Mr. Rager Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
My view: Mr. Rager is another persona of Cudi. Mr. Rager is the angry and frustrated side of himself that longs to become famous, well-liked, and distinguished from everyone else. Solo Dolo is the other persona, the one that's lonely and feels outcast from the world. "Heaven" in this song is his ideal reality. "Birds singin', flyin' around You never see them too long on the ground You wanna be one of them. Yeah" These verses paint a picture of how he sees who he wants to be. Birds singin' are the artists/rappers he aspires to be. The fact that they fly simply means that they are free and untethered from the stresses of everyday life, and that is what he wants for himself. The chorus continues with this theme. Mr. Rager (Cudi's ideal self) is going on adventures, living an exciting lifestyle, always on the move. "Knocked down round for round You're feelin' like you're shot down on the ground When will the fantasy end? When will the heaven begin? Yeah" These verses explain why the protagonist in this song is called Mr. Rager. He feels extremely frustrated. He wonders when he can stop dreaming his ideal life and actually start living it. The name "Mr. Rager" is central to this song, and I don't think many people understand that. Mr. Rager's anger, or rage, is inherent to his character; it's what's fueling him want to become one of the birds singing and flying around, untethered to the ground. He longs for that freedom when he doesn't have it, and he is raging at how difficult it is to make that freedom, that "heaven" a reality and more than just "fantasy." |

| Bush – Machinehead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
If anyone cares to elaborate on the "Howl" connection then go ahead. Here is how I've interpreted the song and what I think it speaks on an intuitive level. I think that, at it's core, this song is about the battle between logic and emotions within the mind. "Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out" is sung in a very mechanical fashion, very abrupt and stocatto. "Green to red" confirms this. It's "better than the rest" because like a machine, his mind is efficient, eschewing distractions like emotions or empathy. "Tied to a wheel" = he is tied to the cogs and wheels of his machine-like mind. "Fingers gotta feel" = he realizes that he ISN'T a robot and is still human, only acknowledging this fact, not fully embracing it. I "felt you like electric light" = whoever he's talking about was like the "electricity" that him life, see as how he is equating himself (or more specifically his mind) to a machine. "For our love For our fears For our rise against the years and years and years" = he is just starting to feel emotions again, breaking through his cold, logical mind. Love, fear, and hope/defiance." Also... watch Equilibrium. I know the movie came out years later, but I feel it ties in nicely to the song. |

| The Smiths – This Charming Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Punctured bicycle on a hillside desolate" -I'm a failure and my future prospects are grim. I'm broken and no one cares in this 'desolate' landscape. "will Nature make a man of me yet?" Morrissey was celibate and stated in an interview that celibacy was not necessarily his choice... he said that he told the world that he was a virgin when most people would be ashamed of it. So I think this line is referring to the fact that he's a virgin. "When in this charming car this charming man" -A lot of people are postulating that this line is proof positive that the song is about homosexuality, but I think that's pretty far off the mark. I interpret 'this charming man' as being an adviser to the protagonist. He sees that the protagonist is broken and hopeless and so offers his wisdom and generosity. I think the song is mainly one of gratitude, Morrissey (or the protagonist) thanking the man for being there for him at that point in his life. "Why ponder life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?" -Why be stuck in your head when being in the moment is so pleasurable? Introverts have a tendency to be 'absent' from the present moment and lost in their minds. I think Morrissey is expressing here how, even though it sucks that his 'bicycle is punctured' (he has thus far been a failure), there is hope and pleasure in the present moment, and worrying about what happened to him and what will become of him in the future is rather pointless. Why not just enjoy the moment? "I would go out tonight but I haven't got a stitch to wear this man said "It's gruesome that someone so handsome should care" The protagonist wants to be social and actually start living, but he finds excuses to always stay at home and always be alone. The man, this muse, perhaps not even a real man (as the 'man' is metaphoric) gives a boost to the protagonist's self esteem. He wants the protagonist to believe in himself, and he sees the charisma and the potential that the protagonist cannot see in himself. "A jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place he said "return the rings" he knows so much about these things he knows so much about these things" The protagonist, being a virgin, was looking to marry the first girl he had sex with. The 'charming man' has been divorced and advises the protagonist to not get married. I could be wrong, of course, but that's the most likely meaning I can come up with. When you consider who Morrissey is and his depth, you'll have a hard time reconciling that this song is simply about a homosexual romp. |

| Pleymo – Divine Excuse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Serendipitously, I heard this song on internet radio while I was studying for my French exam... and I was blown away. Awesome song. I've yet to find a complete translation of Pleymo lyrics (anyone up for it?), but this song is about questioning religion/God, I think. From my rough understanding of French: "Le Noël pour adulte où l'on pardonne l'horreur de vos morts !" = "Christmas for adults where they're pardoned from the horror of their deaths" "Et l'homme créa Dieu, un alibi à ses mentis" And man created God, an alibi to their lies And the chorus: "Qu'est ce qui nous tord l'âme pour qu'on en demande encore ? Qu'est ce qu'on implore là ? Puisqu'on vous damne au final." = What twists the soul We ask again? What does one implore there? Since you're damned in the end |

This song reminds me of Nazi Germany. Parades held in the name of Hitler. Many of the verses talk about "following blindly" and "dictating every step". Sounds a lot like a fascist state to me. "Three strikes you're out You're no more use to us" That verse reminds me of how Field Marshal Erwin Rommel was forced by Hitler to commit suicide to save his family, after Rommel had attempted to overthrow Hitler. |

| Face to Face – Disconnected Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ultimately, I think the message of the song is to go for what you want, consequences be damned. The line "You don't know what you will give up" puzzled me for years. But I've finally come to realize, in my interpretation at least, that Trever is saying "You don't know what you will give up by NOT taking risks." "You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need Something that may never come to you" These lines also puzzled me, but here's what I think. Often in life, people will get a kind of writer's block where they are too afraid to commit to anything, because they are scared that they are making the wrong decision. "Should I really take this job?" "Should I really date this girl/guy?" "Is this the right college major for me?" Ultimately I think Trever is saying that these questions only get answered AFTER you take the risk and commit yourself. You WON'T know if she's the right girl for you until you spend some time with her. You WON'T know if it's TRULY the right job for you until you commit to it for a while. "It may take you years to find out" if it's really what you want. And it's something you may never know if you choose to stay passive and take no risks. |
|
| Face to Face – Disconnected Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
You don't know a thing about me Is there something that you should know? I can tell you what you want to hear Let your inhibitions just go [Here, I believe Trever is telling people to drop their guard when interacting with others. You can choose to be defensive and guarded or you can choose to let your inhibitions go and choose to freely enjoy life and your interactions with new people.] No, you don't know what you will give up You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need It's something that may never come to you [Here I believe Trever is saying to dive in and commit yourself to something you are passionate about even if you are unsure that it's the absolute best decision you can make. "You don't know what you will give up" by not taking the plunge and going for what you want. A decision with no risk or uncertainty about the outcome is "something that may never come to you."] Trust is something that comes easy When you've never been a victim Lies and promises and words are said It's your decision to accept them [Trever understands that it's hard for people to trust if they've had bad experiences in the past. But you ultimately have to let yourself be vulnerable if you want to truly enjoy all life has to offer. The alternative is to be a jaded shell of who you used to be.] No, you don't know what you will give up You don't know what you want It may take you years to find out You don't know what you need It's something that may never come to you |

| Project 86 – Say Goodnight To The Bad Guy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Say Goodnight to the Bad Guy" is a quote taken directly from the Al Pacino movie, Scarface: ""Whattaya lookin' at? You're all a bunch of fucking assholes. You know why? 'Cause you don't have the guts to be what you wanna be. You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your fucking fingers, and say "that's the bad guy." So, what dat make you? Good? You're not good; you just know how to hide. Howda lie. Me, I don't have that problem. Me, I always tell the truth--even when I lie. So say goodnight to the bad guy. Come on; the last time you gonna see a bad guy like this, let me tell ya. Come on, make way for the bad guy. There's a bad guy comin' through; you better get outta his way!"" So I'm pretty sure that in this song, "Say goodnight to the bad guy" is Andrew's way of basically calling those who condemn him a hypocrite. I think a lot of people here are projecting their own religious beliefs into the song. I've noticed this for Project 86 and also for Chevelle. Here's what I think the overall song is about: 'Now here I lie in the street An invitation for you to steal a glance at me While all the village, it gathers To watch the vultures devour this decaying matter You have killed me with your betrayal. You have stolen my joy away from me and I am left to decay. I get picked apart (either by the person he wrote this song about or by himself). He's in a low state. 'Come one, come all, (hey, hey, hey) Whoever wants a taste of me take it for free (2x)' In this moment, I am at my most vulnerable. 'You wanna, You wanna, You wanna, You wanna Now everyone can say good night to the bad guy' He is caustically referring to himself as the "bad guy" since this is how the person he has in mind sees him. His/her perception of Andrew is that he is totally the bad guy of the situation. He is totally at fault, and he/she forgets / erases from memory any good times had with Andrew. 'The children fiend for the spoils Divide what remains before it sinks in the soil With a gash below the waste Out it came like milk for everyone to taste But now it's curdled and sour Ripe for your stomach to turn in about an hour' Whoever betrayed him left him wounded and vulnerable. But rather than give that person satisfaction from wounding him, he defies them. 'Just for a minute pretend In this illusion that we were ever friends Nothing is more expensive Yet it's been given to you at such a bargain But now the serum is sour 'Cause I was never here for you to devour' Here's the verse that brought it all together to me. He hates the person now, but they were once friends. "It's been given to you at such a bargain" means that he's dealt with this person's shit and tried to be friends with him/her repeatedly. "Nothing is more expensive" means that giving someone his trust and friendship is not something he takes lightly. "But now the serum is sour 'Cause I was never here for you to devour" Means that he never agreed to be used up and discarded. He will not let this person consume his soul as if it were a piece of meat. |

| Placebo – Infra-Red Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think lightdivided pretty much nailed it. This is a song about vengeance. Someone wronged the lead singer and emotionally scarred him and then tried to escape responsibility ("There is no running that can hide you"). He wants whoever wronged him to feel the same pain he's felt ("came down to wish you an unhappy birthday" / "crash and burn your beggar's banquet") The chorus is saying that he is so familiar with the pain and loss inflicted by the person who wronged him, that it no longer disorients him. In a sense, he is numb to it, and it's a part of himself (his vision). He has adapted to the pain. He is so familiar with the darkness, he can see in it and think clearly (calculate plans for revenge). It also hints at the fact that the darkness (emotional pain) he was subjected to is now his asset as he will use it to surprise the other person, who presumably, by escaping responsibility, is guilt free and cannot see in the dark. Awesome song. Makes me think of my ex and also of the tale "The Count of Monte Cristo." |

| Three Days Grace – Animal I Have Become Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
He's tried to deny his darker impulses. He wants to avoid letting his anger drive him; he wants to deny his impulses for revenge and quell the rage that he feels inside of himself. He has tried to deal with some ever-present problem that plagues him but can't win no matter how much he tries. He doesn't want to believe that he's being driven to the darkside. But then when he says, "So what if you can see the darkest side of me?" he is, in effect, letting his dark side shine through. He is obeying his impulses. They're taking control of him DURING the song and he's telling everyone "fuck you, I don't care if you judge me" even though he himself occilates between wanting to deal with his problems and letting his animal urges take control of him, since that seems to be the simplest, most efficient way to deal with things. The rage he feels empowers and fuels the "animal" he feels he is becoming. |

| Chevelle – Send The Pain Below Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"I liked having hurt" = I was addicted to the negative emotions this relationship provided. "So send the pain below where I need it" = I realize that I was addicted to the negative emotions. Now that we're broken up, my emotions are still negative, but I'm redirecting them to something constructive "You used to beg me to take care of things And smile at the thought of me failing" = You used to have me do everything in the relationship and laugh at the power imbalance. You took me for granted and were condescending. "But long before having hurt I'd send the pain below Much like suffocating" = I've been accustomed to pain long before you arrived. I'll handle the pain you've caused me the same way I've handled all the pain. I won't let it torture my mind. The pain is so intense that I feel like I can't breathe, but I'll deal with it. "You used to run me away while laughing And cry about that fact til I returned" = You drove me away by emotionally leeching me and not putting in your share to the relationship. Then you'd be upset that you were losing the companionship I provided and try to get back in my graces. "I can't feel my chest anymore Drop down Closing in" = I'm so emotionally hurt that the pain I feel in my chest is too much to even feel. I feel claustrophobic. |

| Crowded House – Don't Dream It's Over Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Of course, everyone applies their own spin on what they think the songs mean depending on their own life experiences... here's what I think this song means... I love this song BTW. The lyrics escaped me for a long time, but I love this song... very beautiful.. My interpretation might seem a little fruity at first, but read it all... I think it makes more sense as you read more. ----------------------------------- There is freedom within, There is freedom without, Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup =There is freedom within the relationship... There's freedom without it. He is validating his and her view respectively. She doesn't want to be with him any longer, but he wants to be with her. Being dumped and all the emotions he's feeling are a deluge and he feel's emotionally ill-equipped to deal with it. Hence the paper cup metaphor. The emotions pour over him and he's overwhelmed by them. There's a battle ahead, Many battles are lost, But you'll never see the end of the road while you're travelling with me =A battle ahead to recover after the breakup and to potentially renew it (if he gets his way). Many battles are lost, meaning the things that lead to the breakup, and the falling outs. But you'll never see the end of the road when you're travelling with me = while we may ALWAYS have fights and problems, the relationship will always be passionate and we can work through the problems. Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win = 'Don't dream it's over' is more a plead and a request than a reassurance, as in "Please don't dream it's over, or I will be crushed." "When the world comes in between us" is very broad. He's referring mainly to the little fights and bickerings of the relationship. The things that don't matter. Love is all that matters... and it will triumph over the ordinary worldly concerns and problems. 'We know they won't win' = he is urging her to agree with him, as in 'WE know they won't win, right?' He is also externalizing the problems. Instead of the relationship problems stemming from his and her interaction, he is making the problems a separate entity so that he can persuade her that TOGETHER they can work it out. THEY didn't cause the problems, the world did...the world being trivial bullsh*t that doesn't matter compared to real love between two people. Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof =Since the breakup, I have been depressed. Nothing seems to go right anymore. My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof =This part escapes me. I don't know exactly what possessions he is reffering to. Suspicion could be linked to him thinking that she cheated on him and is seeing another guy. In the paper today tales of war and of waste But you turn right over to the T.V. page = SHE is living a happy life. She has moved on and the depression he feels is far removed from her reality. She doesn't even see it, or him. She skips right over to the next page, the next guy in line to date her. Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us We know they won't win Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum =Now I'm back on my feet. I don't feel as bad. And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart =This is the main line that flipped the switch in my head that made me think "ohhh... she is NOT with him... he's trying to get her BACK." I think he is saying "I won't give up on getting you back, but I don't forsee when I ever will... I just have to keep going up the steps and enduring it until I win your heart again. Only the shadows ahead barely clearing the roof =All I see are obstacles to getting you back. Get to know the feeling of liberation and relief = The fact that he didn't say "I get to know" but just "Get" tells me that he is talking to her. She most likely felt tied down and smothered by him. The fact that he has so many challenges to getting her back gives her an opportunity to feel 'free', though he is being a little caustic (sarcastic) when he says that. Hey now, hey now Don't dream it's over Hey now, hey now When the world comes in They come, they come To build a wall between us Don't ever let them win. |

| Strung Out – No Voice of Mine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
To me, this song isn't political. To me, the song's about breaking free from other people's visions of who or what you should be. Almost everyone wants to be a certain way or do certain things just because it's what other people tell them to do. They are trying to live up to other people's expectations instead of using their own free will. "It's in the way we never seem to get it right A systematic form of bowing down and under, and all we know is what we are, without the faith in who we are, so desperate." When people don't "get something right", they have a tendency to just give up. This is a form of "bowing down and under" to everyone who told you that your visions and dreams of who you could be were wrong and impossible. "Now you've just been spoken for Now you've just been sold" If you don't persue your dreams, someone else will try to make you persue theirs. If you don't speak for yourself, others will speak for you, and in a sense OWN you and your free will. I think the rest of the lyrics point toward that theme as well. Great song. |

Hah, I wouldn't toss Dashboard Confessional in the same boat as a band called "Glasseater." I mean come on. Eating glass is pretty much the manliest thing you could do. And Dashboard is so..... girly. Anyways, I'm pretty sure this song relates to how the singer liked a girl. Maybe she liked him back. Maybe not. If she did, then eventually she stopped trying. She got numb and stopped caring, even though he didn't. And he's tired of trying to get her to come around and be cool when she won't. Too much time wasted on her. Gotta move on and f*ck a gaggle of whores to get over her :) |

| Glasseater – Face to the Floor Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Very very cool song. I laughed out loud when I heard the "figure four" verse. I'm a wrestling fan, so naturally I find this song very amusing. But aside from that, I think it can take on multiple meanings. For me personallly, this song makes me think of a girl who sort of dumped me. "This is just one lesson in preparation One lesson to teach me something new As I prepare to win One day I will Will be back Back to win this match" These verses can mean that you don't take failure as a reflection of your worth as a person, but as a stepping stone to success. "I will be back" just says that you won't give up and you believe in yourself. You won't let this situation keep you down or depress you. "I see you visualize me In a figure four leg lock I tap out as you lean in To your figure four leg lock" The way I see it, this is a way of re-framing a potentially emotionally draining thing (like getting dumped) into something funny. When you visualize your ex as a wrestler locking you in a figure four, thinking she has you beat, the whole weight of the situation dissipates. :) |

| Very vibrant song. It totally leaves behind the "dog eat dog" mentality that's perpetrated in the corporate world. It goes back to a childhood innocence and simple love for fun. Very uplifting and points to the recurrent "dreamer" theme in Bracket's songs. Screw all the jaded, doubting people of the world. Leave em behind in a huge balloon. :) | |
| Bracket – 2rak005 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
To me this song is a trubute to dreamers and daydreamers and has a strong touch of innocence and honesty to it. "I hide my identity/ Truth is my worst enemy" This verse is very honest, considering he basically admits that his life is based on pretense. Very intriguing stuff. The loveable liar... Even though the guy may lie indirectly, it's because he wants to feel good and make other people feel good. "Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons" kinda thing. "I wanna make believe it's real/ That's just the way I feel" Once again, this verse goes back to the dreamer element... realists suck :P I love, love, love this song. Be sure to check out the live version as it's more laid-back but still very cool. |

| Face to Face – I Won't Lie Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
A little more about this song and me. It is my all-time favorite song. Back when I was in middle-school, I was a shy, chubby kid and I got bullied just about everyday. Being into videogames, I saw the movie, Mortal Kombat Annihilation. My best friend bought the soundtrack and let me borrow it. I still remember sitting on my bed and listening to this song on repeat over and over on lazy afternoons. I couldn't believe that I identified with a song SO MUCH. It really lifted my spirits and vindicated me. I felt like someone truly understood me and what I was going through. Without this song, my life may have been turned out totally different. Because of it, I turned my life around. I worked out, I became more social, I left past grudges behind, I made new friends and people from middle-school always tell me I've changed. I still play this song anytime I set off to meet a new challenge... a job interview... trying to break records in the gym...going on a date with an attractive girl-- to me this song is the embodiment of courage, and it always fills me with it, because it reminds me of the scared little boy I used to be and how I just wouldn't lie down as everyone walked away... I knew that everyone couldn't be right. And even though everyone decided that I was inferior, I didn't let them determine my destiny. I owe a huge thanks to Face to Face and Trever Keith for writing this song. This song influenced me for the better at the most pivotal time of my adolescent life. |

| Face to Face – Nothing New Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this song is about the singer's frustration with the apathy and inattention of someone he knows. The chorus might very well be mocking the person the song is about, quoting them-- pointing out the person's general neglect. This song makes me think about authoritarian parents... "Please don't question me, I don't have the time/ If there's a problem, then it's easier to set aside" It also makes me think about past relationships where the ex is just a shell of him/herself. |

| Machine Head – Bulldozer Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Very, VERY cool song. I thought I was in for a mindless mosh-fest when I saw the title of the track, but damn, it rocks hard AND it's got some depth. Very inspirational lyrics, and nice use of the bulldozer as a symbol. The bulldozer in this song serves as kind of hero... the singer encourages us to be like the bulldozer, even though the bulldozer isn't heroic in the typical sense. It's a self-serving machine-- but it IS brutally efficient at what it does and let's nothing stop it. And I think that's the core message of the song... to never back down from odds and to challenge yourself. | |
| Fuel – Jesus Or A Gun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is about ACTION vs WANTING (prayer). When backed into a corner and it comes down to do or die, what REALLY is going to save you? Jesus or a gun? "It's safe to say I don't desire/ Everything you push inside my head/ And I'll reject it until I'm dead" ^ Could be interpreted into different contexts, but given the title and chorus of the song, he's talking about religion and the way people are hearded into organized religion when they're children without a choice. To shogunbown, I don't think he is depressed at all. It's not a song about suicide. It's a song about beating the odds and believing in YOURSELF, and trusting in yourself above all else (supernatural beings included). "All that's safer falls from my favor/ When it's over who will cry for me?" By choosing to reject Christianity, he's choosing an unsafe path. He is choosing to live life the way HE wants to. "When it's over, who will cry for me?" When he dies, who will cry for him since he is presumably an atheist or agnostic? Will people refuse to mourn for him because religion blinds them to humanity? And I agree with divican, that verse is killer. |

Perfectly describes a relationship I was in. I had a close relationship with a girl for a year and a half, and then we agreed not to talk to each other for a month or two. Now when I try to re-initiate conversation, she's really cold to me. I truly wonder if Trever was inspired by girlfriends since he's married and has been for a while. |

| I interpret this as a song about the search for self and the struggle to overcome self-doubt. Also, deals with the issue of how expectations are placed upon people by parents, teachers, society, etc, and how people feel like they need to live up to them, when really, they don't know what they want. | |

This is the ultimate song for when you've just been betrayed by someone close to you or if you are just feeling like the world's against you. The power of the emotion in this song is overwhelming. In this song, Trever suggests numbness... being an emotional vegetable... instead of having to deal with the pain of successive failures. So many great verses, many dealing with innocence being jaded. When I listen to this song, I tend to think of how kids are always told that they can grow up to be anything they want, and how they're conditioned by society to have certain beliefs and expectations of themselves, and how failing those leads to a lot of pain. |

Incredible song... from my perspective, I think this song is talking about how at first the singer really got sucked into his girlfriend's world... he was sorry that he'd caused her pain and that he'd let himself become so vulnerable as to fall in love... Then in the latter part of the song, he says "I didn't mean to make you shine" and points out that he did more for her than she did for him. "I'm everything without you" is his victory cry... Beautiful ;( :) |

These guys have a way of conveying very specific emotions in their songs that very few artists possess. It's conveyed not only through the lyrics but also through the ironically upbeat/happy harmonies that contrast with the tone of the lyrics. It's sort of humorous, but at the same time, you wonder if the humor is masking the incredibly serious/grasping tone of the song itself. Anyway, this song embodies what I've just described. "No work and all day play/ Leaves me feeling happy" Ain't that the truth? I know exactly what the singer's talking about! I skipped 3 classes and work today and feel incredibly contented lol... :) |

"My youth is dying of apathy and old age/ Under my skin is a child running away " WOW!! That's fucking AWESOME songwriting. These guys write such clever melodies and lyrics. I love em! |

| An under-credited song by Face to Face. It always kicks off their self-titled album with a bang and blazes by with true ferocity leading into a retrospective verse at the end. I love it. | |

This song is about a person who has massive expectations placed upon him. I tend to think of parents wanting their kid to get straight A's and be successful in everything. It can also be likened to celebrities and people in power, because people get the idea that those figures are super-human, when really, we are all just human beings. |

This song reminds me of Special Forces, particularly snipers. I'm also reminded of the events that transpired in the film "Blackhawk Down" "I was on my way to the center of the sun when i lost my wings and i fell into the crowd and they carried me to a hole in the ground and they burried me where no one can see and no one would be around " Sounds a lot like the blackhawk crashing and then the pilots having to fend off the mobs of people. |

| 2 years later, and I still absolutely love this song. Great comments from everyone!! I'm especially digging what magicdirt said...If you have been in the position of the person this song is about, it releases so many feelings within you and it becomes truly beautiful. | |

This song addresses the topic of bias and prejudice based on one's appearance. "A look in the mirror is not enough What makes you think that you're not one of us" The above verse reiterates one of Face to Face's primary lyrical goals: To help people to realize that at their core, people are more alike than different. Beautiful song. |

| Face to Face – Blind Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"If I pretended I was blind And struck it from my mind Would it still be there? What if I'd do anything to make it seem all right It's all right " I think the above verse refers to a situation in a relationship that seriously put the relationship in jeopardy. Perhaps Trever was inspired by a girlfriend that cheated on him... |
