GREAT GREAT LYRICS. so direct yet so abstract, i can't quite decide what it means. there seems to be alot of alitteration between love and religion. i guess, as it pertains to me i think it's about the obsession one can have with a person. a girl, maybe, the need for someone the way certain people need faith in a religion. "what i love was never mine", the struggle of wanting to matter to someone you cant seem to forget while not being sure of one's on convictions towards that person. loving and hating at the same time, adoration and abuse. this song seems to jump back and forth between the emotions of caring about some one and hurting them at the same time "your the darkest of my sins" "in this love that makes me it's the hurt that moves me to betray you" maybe a song from the guilty conciance. |

i'm not particularly fond of punk songs about how bad the government sucks but i do like how Strung Out take a more artful look at this. i believe this song is about how the US is headed for destruction in the same way Rome fell. How an established civilization will find itself on top and loose sight of how they got there. America and out freedom. the "one theif to rule them all" part, i see as the band expressing this song around how those in charge of us attempt to make things better only to make them way worse. the 'blueprint' would the history we are living of such a violent and fast paced culture. |

i think this song is about being on the brink of a break-down of some sort. torment or some kind seems to be threatening to take hold and maybe the "no reason" is not being able to find the strength to fight back. bad ass fucking band, great fucking album, increadiable song. pretty easy to figure out, the title says it all. for me, it's about the uneasy closure you finally reach when you get over a person. obviously some other person's actions greatly hurt or affected him in some way and this song is taking off the band-aid and realizing you have finally healed. i'd like to point out that i think this assurance is absolute, in that the "neither here nor missed" isn't a front put on to pretend to be alright. the author is really ok, or at least has found a way to find happiness. |

reguardless, the song is the most powerful on the record. easily my favorite. to me, i think it's about an infatuation that leads to intense feeling and attachment. i think that one of the two participants withdraws because of the probable vulnerability that the attraction is causing. kind of like one of the two people decides to walk away before things get worse. "sooner or later, your gonna hate it". i think the point is that maybe it's best to walk away during the height of a relationship before things head downhill and get hurtful. just my interpretation.... |

this song is the shit, every which way possiable, you can't help but jump up and down when it comes on... anyways i think this song is about ego getting in the way of a good relationship. the 'simple design' is just opeing up and giving, being easier said than done. the part "you must be out of your mind..." i think is directed at the self. the singer is maybe kicking him self for fucking up with a girl, or something. kind of that inner monologe you have when you beat yourself up over a mistake. i see it as the girl just wanting to be in an equal relationship but not getting back what she is given. i think the author is torn between wanting to open up or stay closed off. the breakdown part, is kind of like the singer realizing his opprotunity has passed and just abandoning the endevor all together. i view the part " i'm living it up, while i'm falling from grace" is the reason things got sour. maybe the author is to busy having fun to commit to someone else. |

the verse has a great vibe, and the melodies of this song are true BB. adding alot to the power of the song. personally i think this song is about a vice. it could be a drug, a person or just a memory. the beguinning sounds like the author is dealing with an uncontroliable sense of isolation, and seeks the comfort of that special high. i think this song is about wanting to escape reality for a little whiole "fly away and leave it behind". the "red in your eyes" is the effect this addiction or substance my have on you. the chorus "i see you..." hints of not being able to leave this desire behind. it's attacting the person from all angles "screaming my name/ touching my skin." i totally feel this song. |

i can't believe no one has commented on this song, it was my instant favorite when i first heard SDP. it sounds a bit more comercial and poppy but the sound and emotion is till the same. the meaning is a recuring theme for spineshank in this case over a person who has betrayed or hurt the author. "Soon you'll be the one who is forgotten" sounds like the singer is coaxing himself to forget and let go. the breakdown say it all "I will sew the hole you left inside me, leaving you in the past, i will release" just being in that place where your recovering from damage done by another person and telling yourself you'll make it without the missing piece. |

this is trully an increadiable song, i got a little-kid boner when i first heard it. BB is an amazing band and the dynamics of this song prove that they are trully talented. i'm not really sure what it's about though, most of BB's lyrics are primarily vague so i guess to me the person in the song witnessing a kind of end of the world senario. To me, i imagine that the author leaves behind whatever is going on in the world and seeks solice in this case, a woman. "show me how defenseless you really are" is his way of asking her to open up and really let him see what is inside because he is "empth inside" then the "That's alright, Let's give this another try" is the woman failing to allow an intimacy yet wanting to try again later on. the part 'Your so cold, but you feel alive. Lay your hand on me on last time" really gets me. It's the highlight of the song and i think it says alot about it's content: This person is very numb or unfeeling to the point of actually feeling cold and still the songwriter requests one last touch, even if it is cold. basically: i think this song is about putting up with someone who may be scarred or emotionally unavaliable and yet, you'd crave them all the same. |

i could be totally wrong but after listening to this song several times i kind of paint a picture of the author (chino) being out somewhere and under the influence of alcohol. the tempo and vibe of the song is very different than the rest of the record, which causes it to stand out. the music sort of feels very sexual and erotic. i think the song is basically chino daring some one to try and pick him up. almost like an ego thing "you think your good enough for me? come and get some", like in those old clint eastwood moves where he challenges someone to pull a gun because he knows he's quicker and a better shot. so i just sort of get the impresson of chino being out, drunk or buzzed and waiting for someone to make a move. "spread your wings and sail out to me" kind of makes me think of describing a girl spreading her legs and inviting him in. of course maybe i'm just a sick little pervert. |

ok, awsome song but the lyrics go all over the place. maybe it's cause i haven't gotten any in like, a month but i think this song is about sex. i think that the 'beasts' and 'agony' are troubles that the author is having to deal with, all of which melt away when his partner comes close. all 3 verses start with "as soon as you came in", so maybe chino is sitting around having to deal with different shit and as soon as his woman get home, there is more or less an understanding in most relationships that good sex can have a way of making everything better. the main gaveaway, i thought was line 7 "It only takes one break of your pose to get off", for some reason i can't shake this dirty senerio in my mind of a couple having sex and stopping right before climax so as to preserve the feelings and sensations of the build up. sothen they just lay there, unmoving and enjoying the rush of breaking the continous motions. then maybe one of them can't take the suspence any longer and delivers the "deathblow" which sends both (or just one) to the end. i know this sounds kinda tripped out but if you think i'm bullshitting, next time you are "in the act", try it. just freeze a few moments before coming and try to hold it. i swear it will blow you away if you do it right. |

i agree with dougie352002, this shit is cryptic and very ambient. just taking a stab at it, i think the chorus sheds light on the core meaning of this song- "First we are, ever to fall off of the earth.. WE must be the first ones in the world to fall off of the earth" Back in the day, everyone thought that the earth was flat and by Columbus attempting to sail around the world, he would "fall off the edge of the world". In a sense, Columbus was doing something dangerous and risky. i think the song is about being brave and taking a relationship into uncharted territory, or maybe trusting and loving so much that a couple reaches a new and unknown area of love. that by "falling off of the earth", is taking a plunge into the unknown with someone special. i could be very wrong though. |

this entire album seems to be centered around relationships and the troubles that come along with them. also, since the album was rumored to be called 'lovers' for a while i also get the vibe that alot of the songs have to deal with sex. this song, to me, reminds me of a post-coital buzz. kind of like the feels of coming back passionate sex. i felt like somewhat of a pervert because of my interpretation but i think the 'waves' in the song could be tremors of pleasuriable sensations. ("rocket's rain is keeping you wet" ??) also, the french name for an orgasim is called 'el petit mort' which means 'the small death', a name used to describe the monumental feelings of relief when reaching climax so maybe "deathbed" is used to describe the place where the lovers rest after their encounter. |

i think that this is song is about when the "spell" or love you feel for a girl is broken due to some tremendious fuck up she commits. nate is "awake" and no longer under the influence of the lies or empty relationship has had on him. i think it's a struggle of getting what you want by being in control but kind of wanting to take the girl back anyway. the last scene in fight club right before "jack" shoots himself comes to mind. he says something along the lines of "My eyes are open." then BAMN. both situations involve the end of lying to yourself and coming to your senses. |

this entire post is nothing more than song reviews and band complements. i love this music just as much as anyone here but i thought the site was about songMEANINGS. not to be a dick but it gets so annoying reading a post list that is 150 "oh my god, i love this band this song is my favorite they rock yea i can type" bullshit. and like 2 actual song meanings or interpretations. i'm not trying to be an ass but i think it's apparent that we all like this band or this song or else we wouldn't take the time to come to this site. ok. i'm done. here is my interpretation of the song- my first impression is of how nate finds solice in finding someone who has been hurt in similar ways that he as. he's attraction to her grows stronger because they've both tasted the bad side of love. maybe they comfort eachother even more because the attraction isn't one sided in that they both know "what it is to burn" and have enough heart to not hurt the other person on purpous. plus when you've been through a ordeal and find someone with a similar story then you kind of grow closer knowing that you have someone with matching scars or burns. i think. |

| i'm not sure that i am close to the meaning but my interpretation of this song is the author being alone some place looking a different photographs. personally i believe it's about a girl but i suppose the target of the song is interchangeable. anyway, i kind of see nate alone and looking a various pictures of him with a girlfriend or something. the "perfection through silence" is how a couple can look so happy in pictures that were taken early in the relationship. could be that nate is dwelling how bad the relationship got and wondering how he and who ever could look so promising. could be that by "folding the corners" he is attempting to tear the pic. i think this because i've been there, a total mess wondering how things went so bad and wanting to destroy an reminders of the false sense of security i felt. but that's just me. | |
