Dave Matthews Band – Too Much Lyrics 22 years ago
I believe this song is about people's need for material possetions. About how people continually "eat up" every thing out there, how they "eat too much" of the stuff out there trying to find happiness. Happiness can be found w/out all the excess stuff.

Chevelle – An Evening with El Diablo Lyrics 22 years ago
PumaMan-read what you wrote in The Red, that was pretty cruddy of that guy. But instead of putting them down, pray for them. Who knows what was going through the guy's mind or what kinda day he was having. Putting him down definately won't change him though, pray for him and God will change him. k, i'll shut up now.

Chevelle – An Evening with El Diablo Lyrics 22 years ago
Bizarre-the members of Chevelle are christian. And as for the "point of religion"...Religion is a human formed function. The point of going to Church or being part of "religion" is to grow and be challenged and kept straight by other believers. Also, as a chance to serve God and worship Him w/ other believers. The point of religion is not to "do well on earth", we have a short period of time here to live for God. Point is, life is short, if you don't have God, then you end up spending eternaty apart from him. You are right about applying it to your life, though, b/c if we don't then we are just wasting what we've learned.

Five Iron Frenzy – Eulogy Lyrics 22 years ago
Great song w/ great vocals in the chorus. I read bout them breaking up on their website. They pray each year, seeking what God wants for them. This year they felt God was leading them to seperate. It's a great testimony to see that a band is more concerned w/ what God wants for them, than what they or anyone else wants of them.

Five Iron Frenzy – Banner Year Lyrics 22 years ago
My favorite song off this album. i agree w/ what J35U5 wrote. Tells of our nations mistreatment of the Native Americans.

Five Iron Frenzy – The Day We Killed Lyrics 22 years ago
Great song bout a dark part of our country's past. In the 18th and 19th centuries the native americans were forced from their lands and many died. Now the ones remaining live on small reservations here and there, but most people don't pay much attention to them or what happened to their ancestors. A great song, upbeat and a little angry sounding.

Project 86 – When Darkness Reigns Lyrics 22 years ago
Best Project song ever. The first 2 minutes are an amazing build up from just a voice speaking to the rocking chorus. In the beginning of the song he's talking to Satan. The song speaks of how it seems the battle is lost and how darkness reigns, but there will come a time when truth divides and when Satan and his legions will be defeated.

Collective Soul – Blame Lyrics 22 years ago
Song bout how the narrator overcame the hate and lies of another. Saying not to lay blame on him when your motives are lead by hate and spite, but that w/ the right motives, then blame can be placed. One of my favorite Collective Soul songs.

Switchfoot – Something More (augustine's Confession) Lyrics 22 years ago
Song bout a person who lived their whole life, but realized that they've been living for nothing. Everything this person tried led to emptiness. Finally, at 31, he realizes his need for God.

Third Day – Mama Lyrics 22 years ago
Written like letters between a mother and her lost son. In the beginning of the song, the son is alright and doesn't see a need for God in his life. As the "letters" progress, the son's attitude is changed through experiences in his life and he ends up accepting Christ. Incredible song from an incredible album.

Third Day – City On A Hill Lyrics 22 years ago
Whats up w/ hardly in comments on Third Day songs? Common jabronis!!! Ok...This song was the title track from the first City On A Hill Project. The lyrics are derived from Matt. 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden" The city's light can be seen all around and illuminates the darkness. So should our lives be. We should be a mirror to the world reflecting the Light that is Christ to the darkness that is the world.

Third Day – Give Me A Reason Lyrics 22 years ago
Ok my interpretation of this might seem a bit strange, but i'll try to explain...I believe its God narratting. Bear w/ me. "It's nothing to do w/ apathy I can't take no for an answer." God won't give up on us. He loves us and was setting in motion a plan for us to have access to Him. "The question still remains the same On who can I place all the blame?" God knew someone had to pay for our sin. Someone had to bear the consequences of our actions (hince sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins). The last set of lyrics I believe is a response. "The answer lies in front of me Confirmed by God's own Spirit It's in the pages that I read How could I ever deny it?" God speaks to us through his word. These last few lines could be a person realizing God is real.

Jars of Clay – Truce Lyrics 22 years ago
One of my favorites off Much Afraid. Its about peace and blessings w/out a specific reason. We shouldn't need a REASON to show love towards others. It should come naturally from us.

Jars of Clay – Hand Lyrics 22 years ago
1st off: how can nobody have written about this incredible song. Its in my opinion, the best off If I Left The Zoo. Great guitaring/vocal bridge in the middle. As for what it means...its taken from a quote by Fredrick Buechner. An elaboration that faith is reaching into the darkness and letting it hold and protect us. (God that is)

Jars of Clay – Four Seven Lyrics 22 years ago
A hidden song off their self-titled debut. The lyrics are from 2nd Corinthians 4:7, the verse from where Jars of Clay got their name. (in some translations it says Jars of Clay instead of earthen vessels) NOTE: this song and the song Weighed Down on Much Afraid have similar if not identical rythyms and beats.

Jars of Clay – Famous Last Words Lyrics 22 years ago
I love this song. The band has a question and answer section on their website that explains why they wrote their songs and verses to go w/ their songs. Famous Last Words was written as a look at how we procrastinate in our dealings w/ God and others, and how we can miss opportunities to show love for others. Of course, songs don't have to be interpreted the same for everyone. This song speaks to me in a different way. It could be interpreted about a lost person who wasn't ready to accept Christ. "Famous Last words, 'I'm not ready yet'" A person who wasn't ready, but then missed their opportunity. A little more depressing outlook, but it speaks to us bout the urgency we should have when witnessing to others. We don't know how much time we have left, do all that we can here and now.

Lifehouse – How Long Lyrics 22 years ago

Collective Soul – Precious Declaration Lyrics 22 years ago
What does this song mean to me? To me Precious Declaration is declaring salvation. The song is about being saved by Christ. The line "I believe all hope is dead no longer" speaks that he's found a renewal of hope and is filled w/ this newfound hope. In the last part of the lyrics he says "I was blind but now I see Salvation has discovered me." His eyes were opened to truth. God draws people to Him, hence "Salvation has discovered me." God called him and now he's been saved. Thats what it means to me.

Jars of Clay – The Eleventh Hour Lyrics 22 years ago
To me, this is a song of hope. It's looking forward to Christ's return in hope. In it he says "I get so used to these shadows"; which represents the world we live in (full of shadows or sin). Then he almost cries "Will you chase away these shadows when you come back again?"; asking God to remove the things of this world and in their place provide what really matters, Him. My 2nd favorite on the album.

Jars of Clay – Silence Lyrics 22 years ago
To me, this song represents the doubt that many of us face in our christian walks. We may sometimes wonder if God hears us or if he's even there. It's not saying he's givin up faith, but rather just an expression of what he feels. The "I got a question" is cried out to get God's attention; then the "where are you" is the question being stated for God.

Audio Adrenaline – Bag Lady Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is about a girl who made some mistakes in her life. Big Ones, she got pregnant and ran away from home. This song is a song of hope telling the girl that there's someone who still loves and cares for her. Just b/c she made a mistake doesn't mean that she's not valuable or loved. Forgiveness can be found, and life is not over. PS: Great guitar solo.
