To me this song starts off conveying how hard it is to find that perfect fit, (Thus all the guys crushed by the wayside). That Somebody to gel with, to be open and really, really honest with....until a Certain someone came along. That "YOU" in the song. No need for complications or changing the other person's life dreams or goals. Just a simple personal connection, between two people, that registers for JUST those two people. An open honest and deep relationship that means everything to the singer. I like Ellie Goulding's songs because she's one of the few that can bring out the angst of loving someone. And there's always angst when loving someone. |

I don't drink, so my interpretation is a little different. That person is calling because they're High on Love for the other, but the other one is not really feeling it, so they don't really want to communicate when that is what caller has on the mind. They even brush the caller off by mentioning that they have to get up in the morning, which causes "caller person" to deflate and tumble off of their "Love Cloud". I like Medieval times. Stories about kings and knights and battles. I can see a young maiden confessing her love for a warrior heading off to battle on horseback. Armor on and sword at his side. Hiding amongst the trees in the woods, she watches as he and the other men leave. She will wait....not knowing if he will return, but feeling an intense fire of love for this man in her heart. Beautiful melancholy confession of devotion. |

To me this song tells the story of a brief interruption in a long distance relationship (a glitch) for whatever reason. Making the singer wonder if it was even really what she hoped it to be (counterfeit?). During the absence, the singer tried to move on and be happy elsewhere, but it wasn't happening. But glitches can eventually straighten themselves out, and that seems to have happened between the two. This causes the singer to attach herself once again to the subject of her attraction, wanting to do that "dance that lovers do." 🎶🎵🎶 Of course the moon is out once again (blood lit for caution). The stars are shining once again, and a smile fills her heart. She's Not Sorry for what she's feeling....sometimes that's the way of romance. |

Let's run away, Let's have some fun. To me it's about trying to pull someone away from being unable to let go, do crazy or even simple things, because circumstances won't allow it. The singer wants to snatch them up and run the gamut of freeing behavior, while promising them enaminity and cover. It seems those around the person worry if that person ventures in another direction (They have the attack if you disappear and They get so upset when you come around). They won't let you forget until you come down...(Back down from the high of escaping, and ENJOYING it). Thus...They Won't See You 👀takes on a different meaning. They refuse to realize that you like to break away, out of the norm sometimes. But the singer is WILLING to take you there. I really like the song. I like the story and I think The Cars had one of the best drummers. Love his playing, he really makes you feel that beat. |
