To me this song starts off conveying how hard it is to find that perfect fit, (Thus all the guys crushed by the wayside). That Somebody to gel with, to be open and really, really honest with....until a Certain someone came along. That "YOU" in the song.
No need for complications or changing the other person's life dreams or goals. Just a simple personal connection, between two people, that registers for JUST those two people. An open honest and deep relationship that means everything to the singer. I like Ellie Goulding's songs because she's one of the few that can bring out the angst of loving someone.
