To me it's about trying to pull someone away from being unable to let go, do crazy or even simple things, because circumstances won't allow it. The singer wants to snatch them up and run the gamut of freeing behavior, while promising them enaminity and cover. It seems those around the person worry if that person ventures in another direction (They have the attack if you disappear and They get so upset when you come around).
