It doesn't necessarily have to be about a romance to be about love. After all, there's sibling love, love between friends, familial love...The way I understood rowken's meaning was that this song can be about anyone who loves you and accepts you as you are. And singing about friends or family or a boyfriend/girlfriend doesn't take God out of the equation, because God is love =) |

When I listened to this song I got the idea that she was talking about her fiancee, Beau and how she counts down the days until she sees him again. I think it would make sense, seeing as they're both music artists and on the road quite a bit. I get the feeling of longing and loneliness in this song.
I think it's about missing the other person and thinking about them before you fall asleep. |

Your interpretation took on a new meaning of the song for me. I never considered that it could be about God, although I know a lot of her songs are. It seems much more encouraging and meaningful when you put it that way, as if God is talking to directly to her and us through this song. |

For me, this song is about letting go of our problems and insecurities, and just doing something. It's almost like she's saying stop complaining and do something about it (tough but true love). When she says "straighten up your tie/take the microphone" I immediately think of a guy giving a speech at his brother's wedding or something. So this makes me think she's talking about all of our problems (fears, insecurities, depression).
And at the same time she's trying to get that problem off her friend's mind, and saying that she'll be there for them, rooting and cheering for them. Seems like a friendship song to me. |

Adam said in a quote somewhere (sorry I would reference it if I had it) that this song was about the Challenger Disaster and God. Basically he was saying that those who died in that disaster are safe because he believes they're with God. A nice thought if you ask me. So what's funny is that both sides are right on this one. :D |

This song is so simple and perfect. This song is telling me that you don't really have much control over what happens in life, and you just have to accept it, and work with it. There is no perfect day or perfect life. It feels like she's saying that when you let go and just let life happen, unthinkable surprises happen. I listened to this song today and felt so inspired. I actually followed this line of thinking and my day turned out pretty good.
It's better if you just relax and like the first poster Riko perfectly put it, "go with the flow." |

I love his songs and I think he's a great guitarist. I think this particular song is about a young guy, who desperately wants a girl physically and is on the 'edge of desire.' But at the same time, he wants her emotionally as well and doesn't just want it to be a physical thing. He'll go back on things he believes, he'll go back to his same old habits of one-night stands or something.
He's kind of asking what's the point of falling in love when you're constantly searching and losing. But he still wants someone there to 'lie there with him' and think of him 'I'm scared you'll forget about me.'

I think this song is about accepting God like Chaseroonie said but also about letting God change you, from the inside out. You feel free, you feel light, and you feel passionate when God is in your heart, so she's saying that she's breaking the chains of the world or sin. But she's realistic about it- she knows she's going to fail somewhere down the line, she's going to make mistakes because she's not perfect.
But even with that knowledge of failure, she can still find strength in God because she knows He's right there beside her, forgiving her and encouraging her along the way. I love God :) |

Could the title "Skinny Genes" also be referring to the idea of his image and saying that that's all he's got? Skinny=looks. I think the title just reinforces the physical attraction she feels for this person and how it's all about sex appeal.
"Take off your skinny genes" could be "show me what's underneath all the looks and appearance." |

I like this song. Like others have said, its meaning is self-explanatory. Pack Up is about not caring what others think of you and to just let go, and be carefree. The video shows this carefree attitude too. I love the jazzy aspect to the song and Lloyd Wade's voice. |

Hey,
When I heard this song, I thought this song was about being a friend, not telling your friend what the "right" thing to do is but instead asking how they are:
"I can't say if it's right or if it's the wrong thing to do.
Are you calling from a pay phone this time?
The lines aren't clear. Is everything okay on your side?"
To me, it's like she's saying "It's okay, you don't have to tell anyone what's wrong if you don't want to. Just relax and don't let anyone bring you down.
I especially like the part where she says:
"Who has the say on how the way things should be?
Who will take you home when the lights go on and your glass is empty?
Who will hold your breath when you're diving off the deep end?"
Who has the right to tell you what should or should not be? She's asking who will take care of them and watch out for them. I think she wants to be that person, whether it's as a friend or a lover.

I think it's not only about the beauty and joy of experiencing music but about finding music in life. For example "Every siren is a symphony." Music is beauty so by looking at the music in life you are also looking at the beauty in life.
"From underneath the rubble sing a rebel song"- could mean that he feels trapped/smothered by life circumstances but rises up out of that by rebelling with a song, with music that uplifts him.
"But my heart is beating and my pulses start cathedrals in my heart" - Beautiful verse. The music is giving him energy, making him feel alive and the music lifts him up, transcending everything else.
"Every teardrop is a waterfall"- we make big things out of small things, like a small teardrop. When we cry over something we feel like we're going through the most awful thing in the world. I suppose it means we become kind of melodramatic and blow things out of proportion sometimes. I think it's about sitting back and letting the beauty of music fill you, and not let the little things get to you.
Cool sound, they always come up with something completely different. |

I agree with the other posters who say that this song is about self-destructive behaviour. I also think that it's about ignorant bliss. They both know it isn't working but they try to enjoy their relationship anyway but in the end it hurts them.
"You left a blood stain on the floor. You set your sights on him...I've seen you in a fight." This could literally mean that her boyfriend gets in fights and is hotheaded. Maybe she likes the drama and the passion.
"In our house made of paper. Your words all over me..." Words all over me conveys to me that he is sweet-talking her, flattering her with his words and duping her into staying with him.
"Out there a lonely girl could drown. In here we're frozen." She doesn't want to be alone and when she's with him, she can stop any feeling of loneliness, at least for a little while.
At first I took this song literally but then realized it has more metaphorical meaning than I realized. :) |
