| Angels and Airwaves – It Hurts Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I took the "you're best friend is not your girlfriend" line to mean that he has started a sort of friends-with-benefits relationship with his best friend (Sherrie). He started falling for her, but he soon realizes that she is not all he thought she was. She made him feel like they could really be a couple, but she's been spinning a web of lies and deceiving him (probably cheating on him, too). | |
| Margot & the Nuclear So and So's – Talking In Code Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I can see how it can be about getting high, but my first thought was that it was something to do with mental illness. The other person (let's say she) is suffering from some sort of mental illness and he's trying to find a way out of the relationship--"i gotta go". She accuses him of cheating on her--"saying, 'i know where you've been/and i know where you go'". He's getting tired of this ritual of theirs--"i've been tired/from the moment i woke". He knows that she's not all there--"'cause if you're touring your mind/you'll get lost every time"--but he stays there in body--"i'm sleeping alone"--though his mind isn't entirely there either--"i stopped listening/the moment you spoke/and i'm long gone". She tries to comfort him to get him to stay with her--"you'll sing me sad songs/to keep me awake"--but even she realizes that it's useless--"your voice cracks". She's trying to get better to get him to stay--"you keep moving/but where are you going?"--but in the end, it doesn't work, yet they stay stuck in their cycle--"we're long gone." |

| Matt Nathanson – Bent Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Well, the original "Am I Wrong" is by Love Spit Love. Brand New just did a cover of it. But I agree that "Bent" sounds much more like the Brand New version than the Love Spit Love version. However, both were released before Beneath These Fireworks, so it's quite possible that Matt was heavily influenced by "Am I Wrong". | |
| The Naked And Famous – Spank Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I don't remember the first time But I think I'll survive Probably better not to try again 'Cause it feeds it, yeah, keeps it alive There're specific things that I have to do Day to day just to keep it at bay You wouldn't believe if you knew (Oh no, this isn't real) (Oh no, this isn't real) Here a little secret Here's the best part This is gonna take me Right back to the start If I can keep it If it's set in mind Wait until it settles Come join a second time I don't remember the first time But I think I'll survive Probably better not to try to wake up 'Cause it feeds it, yeah, keeps it alive (Oh no, (no) this isn't real) (Hmm) Here's a little secret Here's the best part This is gonna take me Right back to the start If I can keep it If it's set in mind Wait until it settles Come join a second time I can feel it move Up into my head It is in the room Panicking in bed I feel it coming on Taking over you Oh, please, not tonight There's nothing I can do This is bigger than me This is in my fear This is pedophilia I just disappear Swears are falling from me Swallowed up inside Sailed it as if it Would make this subside I can barely handle I can pass the time Staring through the curtains Up into the sky Where there is no Depth perception Keep preoccupied Self deception Nobody recognizes It doesn't have a name My brother is infected He's acting just the same Screaming like a siren Up and down the hall He just wants to stop it He wants to end it all I am just a child I am nothing more Than the basic functions I am running from I could run a mile My distortion Everything is Disproportioned Suddenly a break All is back again Everything is closer More or less the same And I can hear it It's real and wild I will just forget this 'Til next time |

| Carina Round – For Everything A Reason Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I agree that it should probably be "brought" but at certain times it almost sounds like "born." Like at the end second verse, it sounds like "And so they say, baby, you will be born...back to me." Born referring to them starting anew; a fresh start for them. | |
| Polly Scattergood – Nitrogen Pink Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It's said that Polly wrote this song about a friend of her friend who was dying of cancer. I think the nitrogen has something to do with how they use different forms of nitrogen in chemotherapy, though I have no clue if the nitrogen mustards are pink or what the color has to do with it. | |
| The Streets – Going Through Hell Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I got tired of having no lyrics so I put the song on repeat a few times and gave it a try. It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog Let's surprise, take a slug And if you get a knife from behind there Know you’re nice and in front (Do it, do it!) I wouldn’t say a word ‘til I’ve walked a mile in your shoes But once a mile from yous, I’ll utter what the fuck I choose Wearing nice new shoes (Do it, do it!) If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell Keep going! Fall down five times, rise up six Give the good news by way of fists The mind plays tricks on the fighter who wishes Kindness is right and both sides wins (Yeah, yeah!) Push the limits of stubbornness to Finish up above the stubbornness of silly limits (Yeah, yeah!) Round the ring around your finger And build the ring around to bring it, bring it! If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell Keep going! If you can't join them, beat them! If you want more, you don’t be friends The joy of the fight is the fight in the boy I'm making this up now finding a point Is it if you can’t win then run? Becoming two fists is the fun of the thing It’s all just lads in the normal ambience Fall or stab and then call an ambulance I can't resist anything (Lucifer!) But temptation (Come here!) Lead me not into that place I can find it myself I can't resist anything (Walk with me!) But temptation Lead me not into that place I can find it myself (I found it) Your hero is only ordinary It’s just the hero among them More than you and me You have nothing to lose but your chains So it maybe might rain And yet maybe slight pain or a daylight slaying (Do it, do it!) At the end of the tunnel, there is always light It just might be a train (Beefy!) If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell If you're going through hell Keep going! |

| The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Kid's Garden Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
After listening to the song nonstop for the past week, I decided to look up the lyrics. Turns out every single website I found had the above lyrics, which are little help to interpreting the song. So, I tried my had at figuring out the lyrics. They probably aren't very accurate, but it's the best I could do. Angel There's no sense calling out your name We look at the clue to be near Somewhere It's something, no, it's not the same The haunt to curl, go tell of fears So you say you're the angel's child You've gone too force the storm loss Look all around you You'll worry about what tomorrow brings You miss out much important Dancing all around you But still, it makes your life feel complete It keeps you on the edge of your seat Laugh in the face of the kingdom come And now you see it's falling on all of them around you Now you'll say that you've heard it all And now we see who’s heading for a fall And your loving will keep Lay the branches down at your feet It doesn't have to be that way It doesn't have to be that way Doesn't have to be that way I never wanted to She never wanted to I never wanted to She never needed love You feel so beat You’re condescending, can you come? At the light to feel and come to be killed It's good to know that you've become The source of all in love, life freak Once you hear not to know it all You will learn you're headed down and for a fall Or you can chase along with your dreams And we can fall and life is a creep It doesn't have to be that way I never wanted to She never needed love I never wanted to She never needed love I never wanted to I never want to die She never wanted to I never wanted to She never wanted to I never needed her She never wanted love I never knew it all I never wanted to love you, girl |

This song reminds me of Effy Stonem from Skins, for some odd reason. It's a brilliant song. |

| Jape – Floating Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think he's saying that being with her gives him the same floating feeling that being on drugs does. Basically, she's his drug now that he's met her. And it should be: "There's much in the world I don't understand It just makes much more sense when my hand's in your hand" |

| Pepper – Reverse Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| All the lyrics I've found on other sites are completely wrong, so I tried my hand at writing it down. I'm not sure on about half of it, so feel free to correct them. | |
| Placebo – The Bitter End Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I deciphered something a bit different, but this thing doesn't let you edit. From the time we intersected Feels lot like suicide Slow and sad, come in silence (See you at the bitter end) I walked a bitter mile Lovers seem to run around What is sicker now? Wannabes, arms wide out (See you at the bitter end) Come and reach inside Grab the gentleless inside Heard a cry; six months' time (See you at the bitter end) In six months' time The mess you left will end |

| Feeder – Morning Life Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I first heard this song in Remember the Daze and it made me cry. The lyrics and the music...it's just so powerful. I cry each and every time I hear this song. It's just absolutely brilliant. And now that you mention it, I could see it being about Jon Lee. I had never really though of it that way, honestly. RIP Jon Lee |

| Eve 6 – Think Twice Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Does anyone know what they lyrics are after "What is it you really want? I'm tired of asking"? I hear "You come wasted", but a lot of other lyrics sites say it "You're gone; I'm wasted". I was hoping someone could clarify that for me... Also, the first time on the pre-chorus, it would be "Come around, I'll let you feel the burn", not "and you'll feel the burn". And it's "I've said enough, enough by now" not "right now". |

| Placebo – The Bitter End Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
So, this is what I got (with some help from other postings) for the ending lyrics: From the time we intercepted Feels a lot like suicide Slow and sad, come in silence (See you at the bitter end) I walked a bitter mile Lovers seem to run around What is sicker now? Wannabes, arms wide out (See you at the bitter end) Come on and reach inside Grab the gentleness inside Heard a cry; six months' time (See you at the bitter end) In six months' time The mess you left will end Whether they're right or not, I don't know. At this point, I think only Brian Molko can decipher what is being sung. |

| Skunk Anansie – Because Of You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
How has nobody commented this song yet?? This song is just utterly amazing. Just...wow. Skin's voice is so magical; I especially love when she sings the verses - the music is kind of calm. The chorus is just brilliant, the music is so heavy and emphasizes Skin's lyrics and vocals so well. I think the meaning is pretty straight-forward. She was in a relationship with someone and when it ended, she pretty much gave up on love because it hurt so bad. She's basically blaming her ex and love for her numbness and the pain she went through. Lovelovelove this song. (Skunk Anansie is brilliant.) |

| Nelly Furtado – Fotografia F/ Juanes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
A few translation corrections: "Cada vez que yo me voy llevo a un lado de mi piel Tus fotografias para verlas cada vez Que tu ausencia me devora entero el corazon Y yo no tengo remedio mas que amarte" "Every time I go away I take Your photographs to see them every time That your absence devours my heart whole And the only remedy I have is to love you" - "Cuando hay un abismo desnudo que se opone entre los dos Yo me valgo del recuerdo taciturno de tu voz Y de nuevo siento enfermo este corazon Que no le queda remedio mas que amarte" "When there is a naked abyss that puts itself between the two of us I try to remember your silent voice And my heart starts to feel sick again The only remedy I have left is to love you" - "Y en la distancia te puedo ver Cuando tus fotos me siento a ver Y en las estrellas tus ojos ver Cuando tus fotos me siento a ver" "And I can see you in the distance When I sit down to look at your photographs And I can see your eyes in the stars When I sit down to look at your photographs" - "Cada vez que te busco te vas Y cada vez que te llamo no estas Es por eso que debo decir que tu solo en mis fotos estas" "Every time I look for you, you leave And every time I call you, you aren't there That's why I should say that you're only in my photgraphs" -- It's a sad song, about yearning for a lost love. I think Nelly sings beautifully in Spanish, though :) It definitely made this song. Um, I'm curious though...HOW does this song help you in Spanish class??? |

| Apocalyptica – I Don't Care (feat. Adam Gontier) (US/Revised Version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Actually, in the original version, the chorus is "All the things you left behind." But in this version of the song, the lyrics are right. | |
| Charlotte Gainsbourg – The Songs That We Sing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I'm not completely sure on the meaning, but I agree with Pozzi. I think she's had some bad some bad experiences and she's just saying, "Oh, well. Life goes on." She has an optimistic view of the world. "I saw somebody who reminded me of you before you got afraid; I wish that you could've stayed that way." She maybe saw a person who reminded her of a friend - they had some fearless, daredevil quality that her friend seemed to have lost (after possibly a tragic occurrence). "I saw a little girl, I stopped and smiled at her; she screamed and ran away; it happens to me more and more these days." I'm not too sure what that's about. Maybe when she stops to be polite and smile at a child, they are scared of her? I'm not sure, but that's the image I get. "I saw a photograph: a woman in a bath of hundred dollar bills; if the cold doesn't kill her, money will." I think the "cold" she's referring to is the stereotypical snobbish cold attitude wealthy people are depict of having. If her stuck-up personality doesn't kill her, the money eventually will (because money is the root of all evil). My favorite line, "I read a magazine that said by seventeen your life was at an end; I'm dead and I'm perfectly content." I think she's referring to her own age. She's over the age of seventeen, so she's "dead" (according to the magazine) but she's content with her life being "at an end". And the chorus, she's wondering if the music she (as well as others) makes means anything to their audience. The last line, "Tonight they do" can be her being optimistic. At the same time, I see it as a foreshadowing. Like, usually the songs won't mean much to anyone, but "tonight" someone will have something terrible happen and they will take comfort in her music. That's just my take on it. Beautiful song that stays stuck in your head. |
