For Everything A Reason Lyrics
So they say lord for everything a reason
For every ending a new beginning
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And those who loved before will be bought back together
Those who loved before will be bought back together
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby you will be bought
Back to me
I saw you leaving
I saw the light go out
And so they say lord for everything a reason
My house is haunted by rotten desire
And on my skin left the scent of indignation
And so they say baby for everything a reason
Don't call me that I had everything I needed
For every lie honey the truth lies underneath it
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby you will be born
Back to me
I saw you leaving
I saw the light go out
Come back to me
For every ending a new beginning
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby for everything a reason
Those who loved before will be bought back together
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby you will be bought
Back to me
I saw the light go out
My house is haunted by rotten desire
And on my skin left the scent of indignation
And so they say baby for everything a reason
For every lie honey the truth lies underneath it
And so they say baby for everything a reason
And so they say baby you will be born
Back to me
I saw the light go out

I think it's brought, not bought...even though she may not pronounce it very clearly.
And this is what I hear:
I saw you leaving I saw you lying cold I saw you leaving I saw you leaving
maybe i'm just not hearing it right though.
I agree that it should probably be "brought" but at certain times it almost sounds like "born." Like at the end second verse, it sounds like "And so they say, baby, you will be born...back to me." Born referring to them starting anew; a fresh start for them.

before this song was in american horror story, (great show btw)- it was in joss whedon's dollhouse... its a beautiful song.. i also thought of the death of a very small child. she talks about feeling indignant- maybe she had a miscarriage or a stillbirth...? also when she says, "dont tell me that i had everything i needed, for every lie honey the truth lies underneath it" --to me it sounds like a husband is trying to comfort her but they both know there is no justification for losing her child. "my house is haunted by rotten desires"- maybe she already has children and she knows she should be grateful, but still desires the one she lost.
the whole thing to me sounds like she keeps hearing everyone's voices in her head telling her "for everything a reason" but she just cant see it that way. "i saw you leaving, i saw you lying cold." --how could there be a good reason for her baby to die?
maybe, maybe not... either way, the lyrics paint a beautiful picture.. tells quite a story, i think.
I feel that she's trying to have hope but evidently, it's slipping her. She's telling herself that everything happens for a reason, so maybe it's meant to be the way it is, but she yearns for this person's return.
Beautiful song. I'm truly lucky to have bumped into this.
I think this song is very clearly about death, evidenced by the following lines: "For every ending a new beginning", "And those who loved before will be brought back together", "I saw the light go out", "And so they say baby you will be born back to me".
I really believe this song is about the death of a child. She's obviously searching for a reason, and people often search for reasons when a person dies too young. I don't think it was her own child, but I think a child very close to her (neice, nephew) died far too young.
I think this song is pretty obviously about a dead loved one.
However, I think it's worth adding that these lyrics work pretty well with my ex, too. But that's not what this beautiful tune is about.
American Horror Story, ftw.
does anyone else hear some sort of talking or rubbish at the end of the song?? i often hear it but i cannot make out what is being said. it makes me feel like i am listening to an evp and drives me mad! ugh. please help! ;op
Yeah i hear it too! honestly, i think its one of those songs that if you play the end backwards she says something, but i haven't tried it out yet so i could be wrong. either way, its an amazing song

I think it's about reincarnation. She has lost someone, and she's holding on to the hope that they will be together again in another life, while grieving tremendously because, for now, that person is beyond her grasp. Side note- The writer of this song has definitely lost someone close to her in real life. That line, "I saw you leaving, I saw the light go", you couldn't write that if you hadn't lived it, if you didn't knowwhat that's like. The way it's delivered sounds like crying, and it's one of the few songs that can make me cry. Beautiful.
