He seems to do similar word play in The Sky is Over. "Not even from the Sun" , replace Sun with Son and it sounds like he is trying to illustrate his point in another manner. Almost like sarcastically saying "faith has nothing to do with what's going on." "don't you want me to run" like a sarcastic Republican run manipulating the message in his favor. I read "sun" as "Son" in Harikiri. He is using it to compare similar messages about life and death, and asking why we reject our instincts and ignore the obvious. |

Sorry, didn't mean to come across so negitive. It is a good song in it's own right; to me, the CD had it own unique flow that sounded really good, and to me, this song was like nails on a chalkboard. I think he refering to people's desire for new technology as said before. It's repeated over and over because we are addicted. They are drugs. |

I think this song is the reason the album took so long to come out. They probably wrote it, and sat on it for the last 3 months without being able to make anything better. Easily my least favorite song on the album. I think Fetus summed it up right... although I think he may be specifically talking about cars as the "cute machines" ... after all, they "go go go go go go go go go go" |

Tellan you are definately on to it. Its about drugs, specifically he and his buddy in the song are ON drugs. He takes the drugs to get away and instead finds himself intensely focused on the state of our world. I also think the other person in the song achived the high they were after, because Darron feels alone. MADNESS! NO ONE CARES! LOOKIN AROUND AN NOBODY CARES - I think he is referring to the people he is tripping with being uninterested in debating what he is tripping over. -He also could be refering to people of the united states in general. Piss on your face/suck on my cock - I think its just a metaphor for random things that happen when your tripping. - In relation to the note up there, it could be a reference to the random things that happen to anybody when they are drunk. |

So many ways to hide I see the trouble deep inside Government corruption. Media is a good example to "hide" but he still see's right through it. I think he is suggesting that we are going to lose our freedom. He sarcastically saying "lets just ignore whats going on, and eventually we will 'bring back the pain' of suppression and economic slavery. Probably unrelated, but I like to picture "Exploding" as the News, and "Reloading" television programing, and actually the entire song as the average americans "mixed up viewpoints" In that context, I think the song refers how crazy real life and television DONT mix. These same people that support the war are religious! This song makes me think of an "average" american. Goes to church (I like Jesus Christ), comes home, watches television news (mixed with suicide), change the channel when they don't like it and watch something that subconsciously gives them their opinion ("exploding" and "reloading") You live on your knees, spread like a disease - reminded me, again, of a typical persons opinion of an Arabic person. |

"My Baby, My Baby" is the US Gov't. The US is supposed to serve and protect. They essentially are supposed to "love" us... this is why so many of his songs have a love song vibe to them. "Because you love me, let me go!" means the US tells us we are free, yet take more and more constitutional laws away from us. "Let me go" is a cry to let us REALLY be free. "Because your my lover, you pay me, twice my size" means the value of the dollar keeps droping, but we keep printing more. In fact, we keep raising the wages simply because we print too much money. "On your knees, you lay, in my thighs" just means knowing this pisses him off. First chorus he is talking to the TV. The anchor woman. "Take my hand and lets end it all" is the news reporter spinning a story into making people believe there is no hope in life, so lets make facism seem cool. Take my hand and lets blow up the world since no one seems to care. "Broke her bones on the boulders below" means Serj laughed at that idea, and disagreed. The 2nd chorus adds "And while she fell, i delightfully said... lie lie lie..." ... basically as she kept explaining the story, Serj sarcastically plugs his ears and rattles off "lie lie lie" like a little kid. "While she fell" means she kept lieing during the story... The most important part is where instead of asking "take my hand" , we get "she TOOK my hand" ... he is saying that suddenly a bomb happened and we didn't have a choice because we were lied to from the begining... We still "let go," or disagreed with the decision.... yet our "baby" still insisted.... now other countries are laughing like nuguns said and won't help us. Serj laughs because his family was in the middle of this entire crisis. |

Following the life of a celebrety throughout your entire life is a waste of time, a waste of life. "Why do we dance around the issues til to morning light" Why do we play football with politics. Republican vs Democrat is a joke. There are REAL issues, and we should be real people, stand up for ourselves, and resolve problems. It doesn't mean illegal drugs; id find it hard to believe Serj means illegal drugs, they've opened his eyes to this point. System members were all pretty strongly pro-pot. Isn't that a "depressant" , not an "Anti-depressant?" I've started to think he kinda uses the line (and even some of the song "we don't neeed your hypocracy") to also show how hypocritical it is for the gov't to literally trick people into using anti-depressants, then using it to their advantage, yet not allowing pot smokers or recreation drugs users to even have a CHANCE in "society" ... "Anti-Depressant" is just another spin word for a drug. |

I keep getting frustrated with these lyrics because I can focus in one direction so well, and then I get an alternative idea, and it STILL fits too well... He talks about Gary being on trial and drunk BEFORE he left be, and how they were walking sideways and not using the front door. Ive thought that it meant they were on trial as in he is being judged by society for his ALL of his actions, and Drunk as in he is overcompensating for the things he realizes he is being judged by. "as it got better he had no idea" "I hadn't noticed but the people really noticed" to me means they stopped caring. Walk sideways through the town but not use the front door means he talks and beats around the bush. Then Issac says well I am capable of being upfront, i'd rather beat around the bush and piss you off. "So not a single one of us will never leave town" In the next verse, the fly trapped in a jar above their heads is their brains, and "hit the floor" means their ego's collapsed. Im just kidding, im wasted right now. Connect the dots for me. :D |
