I think this song is about people misinterpreting the religion. "From the creation came love, You dont know what this love is all about," Serj says that religion's about love, but people are using it as a motivation for hate instead.Take al qaida and even america as an example. They are both very religious, according to themselves, but neither of the religions promote hate and war. But they're using it as an excuse to make war, hence "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition"

what I conceived from this song is that the writer wants to say religion has been misinterpreted and abused buy leaders and used as a tool for power, where he says : "from the prophet came the king". he means that prophet came for a goal but it lead to kingdoms that was not based on prophets goals because this kingdoms lead to "the pauper". And I guess he wants to say that this attitude toward religion would led to nothing but war, and what some people think that their religion is the key to redemption would be the key to war, where he says: "Do we ever have enough When we see that blue dove We want to go where no ones been No ones been" I conclude that he means what we think as Armageddon that is the time when Jesus or Budda or Mahdi will come to form a new world that no one has ever been, is just what we are told by our religion leaders and this idea is being used as a tool by them for power "praise the lord and pass the ammunition" for those leaders this idea is what construct their power and for us this is just war and hate and poverty, and he wants us to know, this utopia can be achieved only by considering the truth about religion which is love "you don't know what this love is all about" and we should know what love is really about(and for sure that is not war and killing for ideas) , so I guess he want us to consider the goal of creation and prophets LOVE and this love should be love to everything and everyone and simply to creation . If we want that utopia we should stop feelings like hatred and start to love.

Nit (Net, Neit, Neith) was the predynastic goddess of war , The Egyptians believed her to be an ancient and wise goddess, to whom the other gods came if they could not resolve their own disputes. I guess he uses this name as the prophet to tell us that prophets came to resolve and stop wars not to spread it, those who spread wars are kings , kings that came from the prophet means kings that abused prophets and their goals just for power.

Both the above have only commented on 2 lines, i think this shows exactly how this song can be looked at. I feel both examinations above are valid but to be devil's advocate hardly conclusive. I would be greatful to learn who Nlelith is? what is meant by

Brilliant album very artistic, have to concede it could be mistaken for just another system album but that takes nothing away from it.

I would agree with all of you if it wasnt that you only mention some parts of the song the song basically is talking about war and how we drag religious reasons just to go to war.

I agree that this song is about how we use religion as an excuse to go to war, but the song isnt necessarily about war itself. but through the whole of history religion has been behind most wars. "Come lay it down, wont you, Come burn it down, cant you" this is an invitation to fight and "praise the lord and pass the ammunition" is a religious leader telling people that god wants them to fight

the chorus works just as well either way round

from love came creation -adam and eve stuff inspires first religions from the creation came the swing from the swing came the pauper - a pauper is a person who lives in poverty from the pauper came the king - a poor person needs someone to rule him, or to serve from the king came the prophet - the king decides that god wants him to do something, or he wants more power so proclaims himself or a puppet as a prophet to spread 'gods' word

the 'swing' could be taken to mean many things, it could mean fun/passtimes/procreation. and you cant have fun without work, if a powerful person, ie a king has lots of time having fun, someone else has to do a lot more work to make up for it, the pauper does this extra work

RuNAwaY, anti-American themed? What the hell are you talking about, and another thing none of the other songs even have a hint of anti-American themes what so ever. Serj isn’t and has never been anti-American; disagreeing with policies makes you patriotic. Serj is involved in the government because he, like all of us, should care about it.

Ok I think we can all agree that this song is talking about how people use religion to fuel and justify war. This is very common, especially within wars, which involve Islam. Also war has always been part of human nature. However, I think we’re missing key points in this song. Such as the lines: “Buddha, Mohammad and the Hindu / Lost 100”. This is just an odd mixture of religions; Buddhism is a religion that rarely gets into conflict and I don’t know much about Hinduism but I’d expect they wouldn’t either. Mohammad refers to Islam it doesn’t really fit with the other two religions. Then there the “Lost 100” which doesn’t make much since in the context, I mean well over 100 Islamic people have died as a result of current conflict.

Another line of interest is, “People still ask when will Armageddon begin” followed with “Dragging my feet any longer through this pussy littler”. I think that these lines are implying that we’re all still wondering with the end will come. But this is the end, it seems he is saying look at this shit we’ve gotten in. and then questioning, why are we still going through with this shit. Maybe hinting that we should pull out of Iraq.

Now onto the subject of the prophet referred to as, “Nlelith.” I think that it could be a pun for Neolithic, maybe a metaphor for the first human, our roots. Also if you think of prophet as God; then from God, came a king, for a king came servants or poor people. I’m not sure how “the swing”, creation or love has to do with it though. Also if you noticed that “creation” isn’t capitalized, I don’t think that it’s referring to Creation, as in the creation of the universe or Geneses.

yeah adom bomb is right about serj being anti american and hinduism also tries to stay away from violence the line"Buddha, mohammad and the hindu lost 100" does refer to religion and i think "lost 100" has to do with the gods of the hindu religion
