This song is absolutely beautiful. Definitely about unrequited love, what kind, I think, is up for the listener to decide. "You stuck what I felt for you in the pocket of your jeans." When I heard it for the first time, I was sort of falling asleep and my eyes were closed and I was just imagining the scene going on and the guy was putting a condom in his jean pocket. I think it sort of makes sense that way because sex means different things to both of these people. To her, sex is a way to be close to him, a way to ensure that he's thinking of her, if only for a little while. To him, it's the only reason he's really there at all, it's all he wants from her and he has it his way (puts it in his pocket) I can't see why the line "I wish to feel smaller under your sheets/hands" would be sarcastic, but I guess I interpreted it in the same general manner. He makes her feel small since he really doesn't care, and even though she's getting sick of it, she still really doesn't mind how small it makes her seem, because she has feelings for him. And this is one of the only songs I've seen on here that doesn't have a comment that's like "THIS IS CLEARLY ABOUT HEROIN USE!!", but also , this is the first I've seen where the singer is accused of being a cutter. "I swear I'm gonna cry. I'm sick of tryin' to be tough." It's my favorite line, so much emotion in the simplest most literal words. |
