Queen of Pumpkin Plukes Lyrics

Julie made a garden out of old pipe and rope and plasticine then she took it to her bedroom and she painted it all in green. All the bears were invited, this was a special day for them too. They climbed up the trees and hid in the bushes, ate so much berries that they all turned blue

And we crawl the apple shore my dear
And The Queen of Pumpkin Plukes is here

Bobby's drawing a picture : The lions face is purple and white, the monkey has eyes that come from the end of his hands and they give him sea-monkey sight. Underneath the ocean there is a terrapin bigger than Mum. It commands a school of squid that protects all the fish from a man in a boat with a gun

And we crawl the apple shore my dear
And The Queen of Pumpkin Plukes is here

What are you saying child?
What are you telling me all about?
What does this mean to you and me?
What do you want me to do?
I can, can't understand your mind.
Please let me know you're okay and your fine.
Tell me child because you are running out of time.

And we crawl the Apple Shore my dear
And The Queen of Pumpkin Plukes is here

This song sounds quite simple to me; it's talking about all the nonsense small children dream up which makes sense to them, but not to anyone else. I think it's basically saying just about children's imaginations, the first verse sounds very "Teddy Bears' Picnic"-esque, and the second is a child thinking up all these bizarre things and drawing them.

"What are you saying child? What are you telling me all about? What does this mean to you and me? What do you want me to do? I can, can't understand your mind."

I think this bit is an adult (maybe a parent) talking to a child who is eagerly showing off their nonsensical drawings and talking about their make-believe games. The adult, of course, does not understand any of it, as it isn't at all logical, but to the child it makes perfect sense.

and that's all that needs to be said.
