I want to analyze this but I won't because it will give away too many book/movie spoilers. Without saying too much, it really touches with the whole Eragon leaving home and his intentions of why he's left, what he's going to do, how he's feeling and of course, 'holding on' despite the hard times. Also just the entire relationship between Saphira and Eragon and their interconnectivity with eachother. I was pretty impressed with Avril's work on it though. I agree that it's not her best but I really enjoy it despite not even being a fan of hers haha |

I've always thought the Californication album was completely overrated/overhyped with the exception of this song... I still love the album just. I don't know. This is my favorite song on both SA discs. I think maztamind and lahdeefrigginda are dead on. My favorite part is... 'I know a girl she worked in a store/She knew not what her life was for/She barely knew her name/They tried to tell her she would never be/As happy as a girl in a magazine' It really hits home for me which may be the reasoning for it being my favorite song other than John's guitar just speaks heavenly words to me on this track. Nonethless amazing song. |

Like johnny and 2world said, I think this is definately a song about the spirits that speak to John. If you just read the lyrics as their own sentences it really makes sense. 'I always faked my smile' his unhappy time before the addiction, then 'There's so many careless angels responsible for me' the people/spirits that got him back to where he is today? Dunno. Just random thoughts. Absolutely beautiful song though. Love love love the way he sings 'These are the fares I pushed out of my way.' |
