Same Size Feet Lyrics

a week's too long not to ring re colours her hair and waits for him no cat
against dog just head over heals sex twice a date best time in years oh
no why hasn't he phoned she has to wait until he's on his own lying and
denying so no body knows i'll tell her this week is what he tells her to
keep her on loan he'll buy her one
day

sex drives oral highs cheated wives and spies cream cakes coffee dates
floral gifts goodbye passed away for the day had a change of kind sex
changes too mundane for the average mind oh no she just can't see
where he is or where he's been looked prim and straight like she's
always been all that she saved for went missing again she could be
wrong it looks like the words got around they found a body in the lake
maybe it wasn't really his name same colour same weight same size
feet it's the not knowing that kills you oh no the clocks stopped slow
everytime you're on your own ya' hide from the spies so nobody knows
scratch through the pages of the lazy days news for a clue still looking for

I think it's about a guy who's cheating on his wife or girlfriend or significant other of some sort. He's bored with his love life with that person, and his mistress is new and exciting, but he's got to lie to everyone to maintain that relationship. She can't call him because she doesn't want him to get caught, so she's sitting around waiting for him to call her, but he hasn't. And then they find a body that could be him (possibly because the wife found out, i.e. "looks like the words got around", and had him killed in a fit of jealousy or something) and the mistress doesn't know whether it really IS him or not. Since she doesn't want anyone to know about her affair with him, she can't go to identify the body or ask anyone about it, she'll continue to hope that he's not dead and that he'll get in touch with her.

hm never thought about his wife found out and killed him... I always took it as the word got around that they found the body and he committed suicide.. not word got around that he was having an affair. Works both ways i guess

think it does work both ways but when I listen to this song I get the feeling that his wife/spose whatever found out and killed him like IndigoAngel said and she hopes and waits for him to get in touch with her, but from the end of the song I feel that the mistress DID kill him because he hasnt as yet got in touch

Wierd. There's this bit at the end that has the same bass line as Pounding by Doves, but it only lasts for a few seconds.

never mind dat louis. oasis copied lumps out of the whole song with hindu times. dont know how no one noticed it

There's a couple spots where the lyrics are off.

Sex twice a date = sex twice a day Still Looking For = Still looking for you

Correct me if I'm wrong. I agree with Daz on this one

It's clearly about the mistress wondering what's happened to her lover.

The line 'maybe it wasn't even his name' suggests that her lover isn't even the dead person, she's just thinking that it could be as it would be an explanation for his sudden disappearance from her life.

It's so sad because she'll never know for sure.

I always took it as being about a woman who's husband had been away for a long time. She guessed that he'd went off with another woman but later finds out that he killed himself.

The line "this week is what he tells her to keep her on loan" suggests that he'd know for a long time that he was going to do it.

The first verse is describing her waiting around not knowing when he's coming back The second she decides that he must have left her The third she's gotten word that a body has been found and she realises that its more than likely her husband

Funny someone saying that about Doves. U think Oasis nicked the riff from this when they made Hindu Times
