| Silverchair – Cemetery Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
the first time i heard this song, i almost burst out into tears. Need a change Not to imitate But to irritate All the ones who hate this first verse TO ME is about how people need to change, not to please the people around them, but to get their revenge. to ME it's about how you can live amoung people, but they are dead (hence the cemetery). it's about how lonliness and isolation can cause people to need to change I may be late Always seem to get the wrong date Well I guess it's fate this next verse helps desribe the situation this person is in. they never seem to get anything right, and they feel that they can't change it (the fate bit) I live in a cemetery Full of good will and integrity You see I have no specialty the use of a cemetery makes it look to me as though he's living in a place that has no life, to him anyway. it's not nesseccarily a bad place (good will, intregrity). but he is no one in this place, he is just ordinary, another meaninglyess person in this dead landscape. Here's your warning I'll give you click click boom these lines make it sound as if he is going to explode unexpectedly. people snap under boredom and not being apprecciated. so he is planning to leave. i live in a cemetery i need a change not to immitate but to irritate this make me cry. he knows he is living in this dead place, and knows he haws to changes. but his reasons for leaving is that he wants to get back at the people that ignored him and just passed him by. that's the sad part. he is leaving this good, empty place because other people subconsciously forced him away. i love it how it's acoustic and the strings throughout it. danies voice is amazing. one of the reasons i love silverchair is their progression from their post grunge into their new stuff, and all of is good. it's vary hard to find such diversity in one band. a song to curl up in a ball and cry to. sad thing is that i feel like i am this person most of the time. |

| The Living End – Blinded Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
omg, i love this song soooooom much! the verses are about people growing up zand being taught to live 'bad' lives, in which they cheat and lie and don't get one with each other. Is it impossible, To have a life and realise, It's not a lie? Is it conceivable to carry on, And get along, or is it wrong? the chorus i'm a bit stumped. I can see it in your eyes Blinded but we're by your side to me, it sounds this person is blinded by their 'bad' life and what they are doing, not even noticing everyone around him. On and on it's only starting But I'm never gonna run this part confuses me. it says that the 'bad' lifestyle they are being taught is just beginning, but then it says that they won't leave it.and finally, i am so fucking confused Sign me up for a place I'll be on my way maybe about trying to be good again? or is he joining the "bad" people? any suggestions? anyways, i love this song. one of my favourites. |

| The Living End – No Way Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
this is one of those tle songs i just fell in love with the moment i heard it. i think it is about leaving home, or a place that you have spent a long time in, and wondering if you can get back home and if it just the same as you left it. then the"stop what you're doing" bit is about having to go back home or else you could never get back home, being trapped in another place forever. i love it so much because it's just so haunting and true. will we ever get back home?? oxweaselxo |

| The Living End – Uncle Harry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i love this song so much!!! it's hilarious! as chris cheney explained when i saw them live this year "this song is about certain family members and their urinary problems" its a perfect way to end roll on. live: it was amazing. these guys behind me were yelling "play uncle harry" and then they did! everyone in the mosh pit went crazy and yelling their lungs out! i have feeling it was about one of their uncles (not sure which one though) UNCLE HARRY! PISSING IN THE BATH! WHOA! PISSING IN THE BATH!!!! oxweaselxo |

| The Living End – Killing The Right Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i had no idea it was about the stolen generation, but i s'pose it is actually. now that i think about it, it makes sense. but i have always thought it was just about society in general trying to make everyone the same, everyone "right" and how this guy is rebelling against them. how his childhood was stolen from him. how he has to run away from everyone else. the last verse confuses me anyway i look at it. the voices especially. maybe the voices the right that is imprinted into his mind, and how he is still trying to fight the right, even though he is away from it. either way. i love the intro its not right, its a fucking outcry oxweaselxo |
|
| The Living End – Read About It Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
yeah, it's about how criminals get more attention from the media than anyone else, even though they should be punished, not promoted. and because of the attention given to criminals, more people want to be ones. but chris obviously seems to think that we need to have this madness, or there is going to be nothing for everyone else to read about. and of course the general public needs some bull shit to keep them quiet. this reminds me alot of tabloid magazine, the whole press and how everyone is so caught up in it. i love yelling along the the "and so we remain" bit oxweaselxo |

| The Living End – Blood On Your Hands Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| about the this chris yells at the end, i think it is "its a waste, not worth listening". thats what i think it is anyway. | |
| The Living End – Blood On Your Hands Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i love all the different part sin this song! it just works so well together! yeah, it's like prisoner of society in relation to meaning, but the "can we be set free?" bit is kinda says that they are trapped. but lovin it none the less. We don't wanna listen to what you say We're old enough to know better You got blood on your hands Can you hear me? We don't wanna listen it's a waste of time Are you for real? You got blood on your hands Can we be set free? oxweaselxo |

| The Living End – Astoria Paranoia Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
well, i love this song so much i wrote it all down my arms yesterday in black fine liner. basically, it's about this guy who's paraniod, maybe has some kind of mental disease, and it kinda distant from the rest of the world "lost inside his mind". whatever it is, i love this song so much! i love singing it on the roof in the middle of the night! oxweaselxo |

| yeah, it is astoria paranoia... no offence snw299, you got the name wrong. | |
| The Living End – Staring At The Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think its just one of those songs that if you think about it too much, it never seems to make more sense. what i have got out of it, is that everyone is trying to get to a bright light, a better place, be a better person, even though getting there might be unexpected and painful. maybe the light is death and how easy it is to "stare at the light" i.e. die/ commit suicide and the person not really knowing why they had to die. whatever it is about, it just makes me think about everything and anything. the guitar intro is amazing. another tle masterpiece!! i'm addicted to the guitar! oxweaselxo |
|
| The Living End – Putting You Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i agree with ya coinxoperatedxgirl. this is very un-tle like, but i still love it!!! i reckon its about a guy who leaves home"so you left the home you never had", where he probably didn't belong. he is just leaving his life behind him "and you hitched a ride into the unknown, forgot your adress and your mobile phone" then he asks himself if anyone back home would worry about him going and remember him. the chorus "theres nobody putting you down, just spending your life hanging around, theres nobody putting you down, But you're draggin' your life on the ground" is about how he is free from others pressuring him to down things, but as a consequence, he doesn't do anything, not really doing anything for himself. then the beginning of the secong verse is probably about a fight he had with his family, and him looking back on his old life a seeing it wasn't that bad. i'm a bit confused by the chip on your shoulder bit, but i think that his leaving home affects him, and it just keeps getting worse. but then again, there is no one putting him down. thats my take on it. i LOVE this song. it is one of those songs that make me smile when i listen to it, even though it isn't about something particularly happy. oxweaselxo |
|
| The Living End – Short Notice Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i love this song so much!! it shocked me the first time i heard it, becuase the melody is quite happy. it is quite self explanitory. i love it so much. I said I wanna feel you I really meant I wanna kill you I said I couldn't refuse you I really meant I should've used you I said, I wanna love you I really am above you enough said oxweaselxo |

| The Living End – The Room Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i agree that it about this guy who's been in jail for a long time. the first verse is about how people (these plants) react to change in environments and how it doesn't usually work well. then the next two verses are about what he want's to do when he gets out, return to his life, his loved ones and that it would be the same as before. then after 16 years, he gets out. he talks about how he know's it's going to be hard returning to normal life and that no one can really understand what he's going through. the chorus confuses me, but i think it is about if you have spent so much time in one place, you can't go back, you might never leave the room so to speak. it says "we" as well, so it could relate not only to people in jail, but any people trying to pick up they're old life. the next verse is about him struggling to pick up his old life, there is no place for him and everything has changed. then the last verse confirms this. he starts to question everyone else he knows and if they can accept him again, or think of him differently. it is like his experience in jail has made him someone else, and that he is still in "a room" and can't get out or be accepted. it is really sad, but i love this song to death. the final verse and chorus are just so powerful. a worthwhile 6 minute song. We will never leave We ain't ever gonna leave the room We could be here for life We will never leave the room think about it. could you pick up your old life??? oxweaselxo |

| Pixies – Where Is My Mind? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i love this song soooooooooooo much!!! i discovered it after reading somwhere that people were mad at end of fashion for stealing the riffie thingie... so i looked it up and fell in love with it!!! now i love the pixies!! why did they have to split up??? why did i have to be born in the wrong generation?? anyhoo... i see it as this. it doesn't really have a meaning, just getting lost in yourself and daydreaming.... i feel so mellow whenever i here it.... it's just a song that makes you feel good, even if it is about drugs... i just love it sooo much!! i also love placebo's version.... hell good... oxweaselxo |

| Placebo – Meds Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i love this song so much!! here is how i see it. it is about this guys that is one some physcological medication and stops taking them, his downfall and finally his death. I was alone, falling free Trying my best not to forget (he has stopped taking them, he was on his own and is forgetting things) What happened to us, what happened to me What happened as I let it slip (it being his life) I was confused by the powers that be Forgetting names and faces (he is trying to remember things, but can't, like what he is doing, names and faces. it also mentions someone else, possibly a girlfriend) Passers by were looking at me As if they could erase it (people can see what he is doing, and aren't helping, thinking he can sort his own life out) Baby, did you forget to take your meds? (X2) (someone is asking him if he has taken his meds) I was alone staring over the ledge (he is now alone, i think this ledge is his own mind and madness getting to him) Trying my best not to forget All manner of joy, all manner of glee (he was happy on his meds, he didn't have the isolation he has now) And our one heroic pledge How it mattered to us, how it mattered to me And the consequences (he made this promise to someone (girlfriend) to take his meds and that what it did for him, the "consquences") I was confused by the birds and the bees Forgetting if I meant it (he was forgetting the birds and the bees and was lying to his girlfriend, not meaning what he was doing. also if he meant to live) Baby, did you forget to take your meds? (X4) (again, someone is asking if he has taken his meds) And the sex, and the drugs, and the complications (X4) (he is explaining what happened, and that it ruined him) Baby, did you forget to take your meds? (X6) (this is more powerful, the girlfriend is getting more anxious) I was alone, falling free Trying my best not to forget (this is how how he died, he was alone, off his medication and trying to remember who he was) yeah, that's how i see it, his insanity killed him, and he is reflecting on his life and how he died, and the chorus is his girlfriend after she found him. yes, my version is depressing, but that is how i see it. i'm loving the guitars in this. so good, i have heard it at least 20 times today. so haunting but so beautiful. i love placebo, this song is so simple! oxweaselxo |
|
| Lily Allen – Smile Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is soooo catchy!!!!! i love it, even though it is kinda shallow. it's about this girl who's guy cheated on her, then decided to wreck his life because he wrecked hers. i like the whole payback thing... he he he... so evill.... | |
| The Cat Empire – The Lost Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this song is sooooooo beautiful! i can seriously relate to the whole lost idea... i always lose things but this is deep. harry's voice sounds so good in this song. the cat empire is fantastic. one of my fave songs. | |
| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Stadium Arcadium Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| hmm...i just love listening to this song... it never gets old. at first, i thought it was about this guy who saw this girl in the crowd in St. Petersburg, and he really wants to meet her. but then when he meets her, he goes to the 'stadium arcadium'. then he has 2 leave, cos he has to... but then i don't really get the rest of the song... but i s'pose it could be about music and the crowd and their connection... that actually makes more sense. i love how this sang has a mellow sound, i like all the rhcp songs that have it . | |
| Green Day – King for a Day Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| omg!!! i first heard this song on the bullet in a bible dvd... and didn't realise what the lyrics were [i only got the 'king for a day' part] but now i'm sooooo much more in love with this song after i found out... and my friends pissed ourself when we saw the lyrics. anyhoo.. i think its about someone... probably billie joe... starting to crossdress at a very young age and thinking he was the shit. then his dad found out at and got mad. GREEN DAY ROX!!!!!!!! | |
| Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hey, has anyone realised that the "i long to die" bit isn't amy lee, but a direct quote to the 1996 film of 'Romeo + Juillet' just before Juilet tries to commit suicide? it actualy is Claire Danes's voice they used. this song relates to Juilet exactly. the first verse is about Tybalt dying and how she loves and hates romeo just before her outbrake infront of Father Laurence. then the chorusy thingy in her decision to take the sleeping stuff and her doubts on whether it will work or not. the second verse (to me anyway) is about her thinking about Romeo, and whether he is alive or not either before she takes the sleeping stuff or when she's asleep. the last verse shows how she feels when she finds romeo dying and then really kills herself. thats how i see it... great song | |
| Alex Parks – mad world Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| i didn't really like the original be Tears For Fears, but this is my favourite version. I love way the words show the reality that to many people is day to day life, even if it is depressing and suicidal. | |
| Evanescence – Imaginary (Monsters) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this is the first version of "imaginary" i heard and my fav. this song (and all it's versions) are all about people retreating to their imagination or imaginary world to escape the real world which basically is hell. amy lee is an amazing writer and singer to have to have come up with something and wonderful as this. | |
| Panic! at the Disco – I Constantly Thank God For Esteban Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i'm not sure what 'the scene' is either, but this is what i got out of it. i'm sure that there could be hundreds of interpetations, but heres mine: It's about how ppl don't understand what is happening at the church and what they are supposedly believing. e.g. "Come, congregation and let's sing it like you mean it. No, don't you get it, don't you get it?" The singer is the preacher person and is basically "running the show" and whilst doing so, contridicts many faults that he sees in the "congregation" (us). But the entire thing is a show to entertain the congregation (douse the lights, strike up the band, show tonight, crowd sounds) not to help them become more religious or anything. but they can't leave (don't you you move, just stay where i can see you) He does this because he wants to teach them that if your going to be lying about who you are, do it convincingly (for gods sake sing with conviction, if this was a parish you'd all be condemned) And it can't be a follow on from 'i write sins...' coz in that he's drinking champange, and in this one he's still at the church (i seriously doubt you would drink champange in a church just before you get married) anyhoo... thats just my interpretation... this song has to be one of the best on the albumn |
|
| The Dandy Warhols – We Used To Be Friends Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| The Cat Empire – The Crowd Lyrics | 19 years ago |
