mad world Lyrics
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

This song was at the end of Donnie Darko. Really Sad. Its about life and how lonely and sad and pathetic it is. I love this song
yeah it s a really nice song, about the superficiality of our world and all the shit
Yea I only know this cause of Donnie Darko. I think its a really good, almost...nostalgic yet melancholic song all at once. Its not exactly hard to decipher; its about a boy who basically feels, and is, different to all those around him. Everyone is so monotonous and its a mad world because of that. Because hes different its almsot a sif noone notices him, not even his teacher. And then theres the idea, of having to find excuses to be happy- birthdays etc. VERY good song IMO. It also has an undertone of suicidal thoughts.
Yeh this songs awsome i agree with everything u all said. It fits Donnie Darko perfectly 2.
This song isn't actually the version that appears on the Donny Darko soundtrack. That version is by Gary Joules. In my opinion Alex's version far exceeds Gary Joules and is almost as good as the original by Tears For Fears, and that is saying something.
i didn't really like the original be Tears For Fears, but this is my favourite version. I love way the words show the reality that to many people is day to day life, even if it is depressing and suicidal.
i faaaaar prefer the tears for fears version...but not going into details on this, i think it sounds a little...average. jeff buckley can do straight acoustic songs because he's got an incredible voice, but i don't think it works so well with alex parks - on the final voice, she sounds like she's trying to be a pop diva, which isn't the point of the song. though i have to say, she's a very sweet person in real life ^.^
This song is EXISTENTIALIST. He's saying that people go in circles because existence to him is hard to decipher. The worn out places and worn out faces are going no where, because what place do any of us have in the world (the universe, existence, etc. for that matter) amongst every other creature of thing? So the way I interpret it is that the dreams in which he's dying are the best he's ever had because he can finall maybe gain some understanding, or that he simply gets to put an end to something that never had a point in the first place. To truly see the point of this song, I guess you'd sort of have to be depressed at the moment.
