Killing The Right Lyrics
Killing the right - I don't wanna be a stolen boy
Show me the days of lying in the sun
Of stolen memories
I struggle to retain one
Seems like a phase that only just begun
A secret that was told
A reason now to run
Well the speakers start screaming - whoa
For the neighbourhood's dreaming - whoa
'Cos there is no meaning - whoa
It's not right it's a fucking outcry
Killing the right - I don't wanna be a stolen boy
It's a mistake no reason why
How did we fade from black to white
Taken away from lying in the sun
The signal's interrupted - corrupted
Are we all the same, are we all to blame
Happiness a tease, misery cemented
Well the speakers start screaming - whoa
For the neighbourhood's dreaming - whoa
'Cos there is no meaning - whoa
It's not right it's a fucking outcry
Chorus
Taxi, get me out of here
The voices tell me to be on my way
To turn and forget it for another day
But I don't want to listen to the voices any more
Chorus
Of stolen memories
I struggle to retain one
Seems like a phase that only just begun
A secret that was told
A reason now to run
For the neighbourhood's dreaming - whoa
'Cos there is no meaning - whoa
It's not right it's a fucking outcry
How did we fade from black to white
The signal's interrupted - corrupted
Are we all the same, are we all to blame
Happiness a tease, misery cemented
For the neighbourhood's dreaming - whoa
'Cos there is no meaning - whoa
It's not right it's a fucking outcry
The voices tell me to be on my way
To turn and forget it for another day
But I don't want to listen to the voices any more

its about the stolen generation-
yeah definitly about the stolen generation, im surprised no1 has commented on it. awesome song. Chris Cheney is a legendary guitarist and an awesome songwriter, i agree completely with what his saying, for all u non australians its about the government in Australia in the 1930's and how they tried to eliminate the darker coloured aboriginals from Australia. i think they made them have relations with only white people. or half coloured aboriginals. THE AUSSIE GOVERNMENT WERE FUCKERS IN THE 30'S AND THEY STILL ARE.
i had no idea it was about the stolen generation, but i s'pose it is actually. now that i think about it, it makes sense. but i have always thought it was just about society in general trying to make everyone the same, everyone "right" and how this guy is rebelling against them. how his childhood was stolen from him. how he has to run away from everyone else. the last verse confuses me anyway i look at it. the voices especially. maybe the voices the right that is imprinted into his mind, and how he is still trying to fight the right, even though he is away from it. either way. i love the intro
its not right, its a fucking outcry
oxweaselxo
This song is definitely about the stolen generation.
In reference to "voices" it could be a number of things. I think the most obvious is that the person is going somewhere, possibly a demonstration for aboriginal rights in this context, and his upbringing as one of the stolen generation is conflicting with his sense of what he should be doing.
at any rate, it's speculation. an amazingly well done song.
