| Alkaline Trio – Trucks And Trains Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
@[Airman1415:1929] I agree with your interpretation; I feel that it is much more apt than the interpretation that it's about death/suicide. Not every Alkaline song is about killing yourself... though most of these interpretations were written by edgester teens from the early 2000's. |

| Alkaline Trio – Hell Yes Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Skiba has stated that the whole "satanism phase" they had was mostly for shock-value, more than anything. Evidence: Q: "So it was all a joke?" Skiba: "Yeah. I was going for the same effect as the picture of my "pride and joy" in my wallet. It's actually a picture of Pride furniture polish and Joy dishwashing liquid. I'll ask people if they want to see my pride and joy, and then I show them the picture. It's the same thing. Either you're in it, or you're out of it." | I love this song. Anyone know where I can download it from? | |
| The Gloria Record – Start Here Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
I think this one is pretty obvious. He's telling a young person that's feeling unsatisfied with life that they can start over and lose themselves in some sort of endeavor. That this person might have nothing, but they can just "start here and move forward", that it isn't complicated. Finally, he's letting them know that they'll figure out their problems, and even if they don't, they have him to lean on. |

Thank you for adding the lyrics, but they are incorrect in one instance, at least. My source? The lyric book that came with the CD. It is "And life is death," instead of "And life is good," But thank you very much for adding these. |

Exactly! You have it right, sir. |

| Alkaline Trio – Only Love Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
It's about living and dying well. Despite the fact that there are awful things that will happen to you in life, you must live a good one. He's also singing about how you shouldn't be worried about death, because that anxiety will diminish the quality of your life. Great song by a great lyricist. I don't like this album quite as much as This Addiction, but I do greatly enjoy My Shame Is True because of songs like this. |

| Gnar Kill – Skeletor Vs Beast Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| You're right: there IS a purpose to this song. This is just definitely not a song with many levels and facets of meaning. I always enjoy it when someone puts a thought-out meaning to a song. | |
| Mineral – Dolorosa Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Like Justafraction said, perhaps the "Jesus" line is an expression of exhasperation or an exclamation. Like, "Damn, I hope you're coming back soon." | |
| Mineral – Five, Eight, and Ten Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Perhaps he was saying, "Jesus, I hope you're coming back soon," in exhasperation, like "Damn, I hope you're coming back soon,". A lot of people say "Jesus" in exclamation. It does not necessarily mean he was being literal. | |
| Mineral – Dolorosa Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Really, there's NO way that this song can NOT be about Jesus? That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever read. | |
| Dan Andriano – This Light Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think that this song pretty much has the same meaning as "Let Me In". Without his family, the world is a terrible place. Dan just wishes he could come home. When he's home, being on tour or wherever he wants to go doesn't seem so bad. Everything seems so exciting, and the big city lights are enticing from his home, but "...out here it's too damn bright And your voice sounds so far away, so I respond to the delay And I wait to hear you say to come home." He obviously hates being away from his family (maybe his wife in particular, with this song?), but he has to keep touring. Finally, he lets his wife/daughter know that he will always be there for them, though he might be thousands of miles away from them. He will always do anything that he can for them: "I can't always be right there, but I can get there soon I can't always hold your hand, But I will always love you" Such a beautiful, beautiful song. When I first heard this song, I just went through a bad break-up, so I personally interpret it in a different way. Regretting the break-up, wanting to be with my ex-fiancee again, and realizing that my life was much better with her. I especially related to "I can't always hold your hand, / but I will always love you." This song had a profound effect on me when I first heard it... and it still does. |
|
| Dan Andriano – Let Me In Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I think that in this song, as with a lot of the songs he's written as Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room, he's talking about his wife and/or daughter. Without his family, "it's an ugly world where beautiful doesn't mean much of anything". So when he's out in this ugly world, maybe while on tour, he just wants to be back with his family where things are much better. I think this interpretation is reinforced when he says: "In the waking world I wander around Wondering where to go... In my dreams I'm running Right into your door. I got a little headache, why should today be any different? It just screams, go home, go home, go home." Man, I love this song, though. The guitar riff, the lyrics, and the driving, upbeat instrumentals all combine to make a deliciously addictive song. |
|
| Dan Andriano – From This Oil Can Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Yes, I agree with WoeBoeT. Dan Andriano said in an interview that this song was about his daughter. He cleaned himself up a lot for her; now he only drinks when he is on tour, otherwise he admits that he is an abysmal alcoholic. This song is so beautiful. I related to it on a more romantic level, though. When I'm with a woman I truly love, I want to be a better man, even if I'm not doing anything particularly bad. I think that everyone wants to be the best person they can be for the one they love, and that's why this song is so wonderfully brilliant. |
|
| Dan Andriano – Say Say Say Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I forgot to add that I just LOVE this song. I think it is one of the most beautiful songs ever written about suicide/love. | |
| Dan Andriano – Say Say Say Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I believe this song is written about his wife and how their relationship has kept him from committing suicide and given his life meaning. He talks about how he contemplated suicide frequently (letting all the blood flow out), until he met his wife. His wife has made everything better in his life and given some kind of meaning to the suffering he's endured (Can I just say how worth the wait it's been? / Can I just say that I would do this again?). She's convincing him to stay with her, or keep from committing suicide because their lives have meaning now, they love each other, and she doesn't want to lose him (And now you say, say, say would you just stay, stay, stay. / There is a point to all this, there's a point to me. / There's a home I have made in your heart as it beats). Dan would endure everything that he has if he had to do it all over again (Because now I know I have you in the end). |

| Mineral – Sadder Star Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Honestly, I have the original The Power of Failing CD and the quality is terrible on that as well. You can't really get good quality versions of these songs; Mineral did not have great studio production, in my opinion. It sucks because the songs are so great, but you can't get good quality versions of them... |
|
| Mineral – Silver Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I completely understand. Although I absolutely love Mineral (one of my favorite bands of all time), I think Simpson draws his singing out a bit too much at times. | |
| Mineral – Slower Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Or the swallowing pride lyric may be about him deciding to ask for help with his addiction; admitting he needs help causes him to swallow his pride. | |
| Mineral – Sounds Like Sunday Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I wonder if the lines, "Sending showers, beating flowers Into the mud" is an allusion the T.S. Eliot's "The Wasteland". Here's a quote from the first few lines; this song always reminds me of this poem because of these lines: "APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing Memory and desire, stirring Dull roots with spring rain." I wonder if the similarities are intentional or not. Either way, this song is wonderful and the lyrics are very moving. |

| Alkaline Trio – Queen Of Pain Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This isn't a HWM cover. The book that comes with Remains talks about how this was written by Alkaline. Dan said they knew they were doing a split so they had to bring it and write a really good song | |

| Mineral – Dolorosa Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Oh...My stars, guys. For the last time. SIMPSON STATED IN MANY INTERVIEWS THAT HE DID NOT HAVE CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY IN MIND WHEN WRITING HIS SONGS. | |
| Mineral – Five, Eight, and Ten Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Actually, Simpson stated in an interview that none of his songs were meant to be religious when he wrote them, but you can take it that way. I'm just saying that they are not a Christian band and that he did not have God in mind when he wrote. He said it himself. | |

| Counting Crows – You Can't Count on Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I agree with you. I think that the girl was just another fling for him. This part makes it apparent: But you're just my toy And I can't stop playing with you, baby Seems like he doesn't love her like she loves him, but he needs her nonetheless. Maybe a case of lust. |

| Down – Never Try Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I am fairly certain that this song is about the road to recovery from a bad drug habit like the one that Anselmo experienced. In Headbanger's Ball, he said that this was the first album he did "bone sober". The "frustration/out-patient/to himself/navigate slowly/a step at a time/ towards the law" really makes me think about recovery from heroin. | |

To me, it sounds like a girl with Borderline Personality Disorder. Do you like the way you feel Nothing hurts when no one's real She wants to shake this scene Yeah she wants to shake with me Differing views on relationships, promiscuity, using people, etc. I donno, just my opinion. |

| Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I'm sorry, my mistake. I Cum Blood used to have more comments. | |
| Something Corporate – Konstantine Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Uhhh...ManOnTheEdge.... That's pretty stupid of you to say. For one, Cannibal Corpse's "I Cum Blood" has more comments than this song. By using your logic, their song is better than Konstantine, which is untrue. Oh, and just because an artist/band has a lot of fans because they're mainstream doesn't mean that their music is "better" than any other band/artist's. Yeah, this song is fucking fantastic, and so is Something Corporate. Full of emotion and good lyrics. |

| Pantera – 5 Minutes Alone Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This is the exact text from the booklet inside The Best of Pantera: "There was a guy in the front row in San Diego who was heckling Phil. Phil finally had enough, so he incited the crowd to jump this guy's ass and beat the shit out of him on the spot, so he sued us. And when his dad called our manager, his exact quote was, "You just give me five minutes alone with that Phil Anselmo guy and I'll show him who's big daddy around here." Phil's response was, "You just give me five minutes with that cat's dad and I'll whoop his ass." That's where that song came from." |

| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Where exactly did you see God, I have not seen him anywhere. Did you see him in Walmart? Mcdonalds? I do know that Hitler did a lot of good for Germany, but he was also a crazy, genocidal, hypocrticial asshole. |
|
| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I do agree about the adoption thing that jmoods said. What if the child has a birth defect that is detected very early on, and if the child lives, they would suffer? I think that abortion under that circumstance, and the rape thing is justified. But if you're a dumb bimbo that got too hot on Prom Night, its your fault, nobody else's. | |
| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| How the fuck do they fit the description of Communists? Communists believe in communal ownership of property, and the abolishment of capitalism. Fascists/Nazis believe in Capitalism, and personal ownership of property. Also, Communists really have no universal view of abortion, so you can be pro choice and pro Communism. Also, why are you so hateful to Communists? Are you really dumb enough to fall victim to Cold War propoganda? | |
| Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Eh, I think Pantera is more talented, but I like Slayer more though. | |
| Cannibal Corpse – I Cum Blood Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Cannibal Corpse. You say its the best metal band ever and they need to do this shit. Have you guys ever listened to Slayer or Pantera? They may have been dark with their lyrics, but they came out on top as the greatest metal bands ever without having to put disgusting shit like this in their songs. |
|
| P.O.D. – Abortion Is Murder Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Uh, Jmoods. Nazis, Such as Hitler, hate Communists. That's part of the reason that Germany attacked Russia in the first place, because it wasa Communistic country, and they believed Communists to be inferior. About the issue of abortion. If you abort the fetus before 3 months, then its alright? |

| 50 Cent – In Da Club Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| What you do not get, is you're not being different. You're wearing the jewelry to be part of the punk scene. You wear it so people will notice you, to gain attention. There are a SHIT load of people who wear that stuff. You're nonconforming, but at the same time you are conforming. You're conforming to nonconformity, in other words. Stupid paradoxes. Anyway, I don't label myself either, I'll listen to Pantera, then listen to Taking Back Sunday, then I'll listen to Juvenile. | |
| 50 Cent – In Da Club Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Wasting money on jewelry to be cool in da hood huh? Isn't that what rock people do? Buy stupid studded belts and spiked bracelets to be "different". I'm not rap, rock, emo or whatever. Labels are stupid. Its possible to listen to rap, emo, metal, and whatever the hell you want to. You don't have to label yourself like these faggots. | |
| 50 Cent – In Da Club Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| And what makes rock's lyrics so great? As I recall, the rock life style in the 70's and 80's was, in the clubs, getting tipsy, and doing a lot of drugs. Funny how similar the genres are. And still, you people bitch about the other. | |
| 50 Cent – In Da Club Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
You "rock" people are funny. You are casted out from being popular so you lash back at the people by posting on message boards about how rap is so crappy. First, rap is music, by definition. Second, coming up with lyrics that rhyme well, that are fast, and having a good beat is hard. Third, a lot of rap songs do contain instruments. Fourth, I listen to rock, metal, emo, punk, techno, pop, hard rock, soft rock, rap, hip hop, and about everything else besides country (and that's just because I don't like how it sounds, there's nothing wrong with it). I know that its "your opinion" and all that bullshit. The fact is, nobody gives a fuck. You aren't going to persuade someone to not listen to rap by posting on songmeanings. "RAP SUCKS IT NOT MUSIC IT JUST SOME NIGGER RHYMING TO A BEAT, ITS SO STUPID" How stupid do you sound when you say shit like that? Think before you post. Call me a nigger lover and what not, but you're being ignorant and closed minded. |
|
| Juvenile – Slow Motion Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
It IS real music. I am tired of stupid ass bastards like you people. "I am so different, I hate rap so its not real music." Just because there are no instruments involved, it doesn't mean that it isn't real music. This is the definition of music from www.dictionary.com : mu·sic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (myzk) n. The art of arranging sounds in time so as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. Vocal or instrumental sounds possessing a degree of melody, harmony, or rhythm. This song has vocal sounds possessing a degree of rhythm, and harmony. About the song: Its a pretty cool song, its catchy and whatnot. Always gotta love the songs about banging a chick. :D |
