@riveroflethe Not sure how widespread this was, but when I was at university a curious word-oddity became fashionable: words like "perverted" and "kinky" started to get used in a (strictly non-literal) way, similar to "cool." Wonder if the hugeness of The Cure among my crowd had anything to do with this!
I wouldn't say he's a pervert, though it's hard to be sure since he's very private about his personal life, opinions, etc. (unlike many musicians he doesn't comment on political/social issues, e.g.).
