I believe this song is about the writer's dissatisfaction with becoming old. He is alone and empty in his old age. He has no one to love and he is trying to feel something. Though nothing seems to fill up the empty apathy inside him, and by the line "What if I run? Where would I run too?" He is saying he has no one and has nothing. That no matter how much money he has made or with all his fame it is not paying off. He is still empty he is alone and has no one too love.
Agree totally. It's about the increasing loss of control that comes with getting older, as more and more options close off, leaving a feeling of emptiness
