War on Peace Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I once shone but now I'm old
Give my secrets up like gold
There's a fire beneath my feet
Lights the longest losing streak

[Pre-Chorus]
Love don't live here anymore
Don't come knocking on my door
I just can't get peace of mind
There's a piece that I can't find

[Chorus]
So what if I run?
Where would I run to?
So what if I run?
Where would I run to?

[Verse 2]
Days like these you can't kill
Lives like mine you just can't fill
Blow some money, kill some time
Soak myself in blood red wine
There's no fever coming on
Love is leaving, dead and gone

[Pre-Chorus]
Love don't live here anymore
Don't come knocking on my door

[Chorus]
So what if I run?
Where would I run to?
So what if I run?
Where would I run to?

[Bridge]
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh (So what if I run?)
Where would I run to?

[Outro]
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh, oh oh

I believe this song is about the writer's dissatisfaction with becoming old. He is alone and empty in his old age. He has no one to love and he is trying to feel something. Though nothing seems to fill up the empty apathy inside him, and by the line "What if I run? Where would I run too?" He is saying he has no one and has nothing. That no matter how much money he has made or with all his fame it is not paying off. He is still empty he is alone and has no one too love.

My Interpretation

@honeyfeels

Agree totally. It's about the increasing loss of control that comes with getting older, as more and more options close off, leaving a feeling of emptiness
