I made an account just to mention the glaring oversight as to the meaning of the second stanza. It's referrin,g at least in allusion to, to the posts of the old testament where Moses leads the Jews in escaping across the sea. I feel like the killing here could be the drowning of the Egyptians who pursued them, but the last line sounds more like a part of the bible (maybe it was part of the Moses stuff, I dunno) where God tells the Israelites to massacre an entire enemy camp of men, women, and children while they slept. Not an odd choice of verse, given the subject matter of the song. Honestly it was so clear to me that I was shocked neither reference had been explained.
@nolanhartnett it wouldn't be explained because few people know the bible as well as you seem to.

But do we also know, that was the condition of man in the Old Testament, after the fall. And THAT is exactly WHY God sent His only Son, to come, live a perfect life, and take the torture on Himself, and die.. to put a stop to all the killing... and to teach us LOVE... He wouldn't even allow the disciples to kill and fight to save JESUS Himself! -- totally non violent, full of grace and mercy -- never hurt anyone.

Others...
Others have use the bible to mislead people who have not read it themselves.. the crusades, for example.. Jesus would not have approved....
The love of Christ, heals, provides for our needs, and encourages.. and forgives
