Atheists DO use biblical allusions. Most American atheists were raised Christian, and I'll bet Graffin was too. In fact, atheists often know MORE about the bible than their christian peers, because they can look at it without bias, and don't skip over the nasty bits.
For example:
In the Pentateuch, God condones slavery, and gives the Israelites extensive laws about how to treat slaves.
In the Torah, God tells the Israelites to commit genocide... repeatedly.
In Jeremiah, God says that women who sin deserve to be raped.
Most Christians don't even know that, because they've never actually read their bible. A lot of atheists got that way because they actually cracked the bible open one day and found out just what kind of sick, depraved stuff is inside.
@markf says "they actually cracked the bible open one day and found out just what kind of sick, depraved stuff is inside."

Really? Is the following passage any of the above?

The words of Jesus:
"First, love God your Creator more than anything else. Then, love all other people the same as you love yourself."
Matthew 22:35-40, restated in Mark 12:28-31 and Luke 10:25-28.

Apparently you don't know the bible!
Old Testament Law has been replaced by New Testament Grace.

Where does it say in Jeremiah that God says that women who sin deserve to be raped? I can guarantee you have misconstrued that passage. The main issue I have with atheists is that they take bible passages out of context - they manipulate them so that they suit their arguments. However, it's one thing to read the bible, but it's another to understand the theology. Atheists can read, but without proper research, they will never understand. I can agree that many Christians follow the faith blindly, and thus are not much different from atheists, but there are also many...

@ adrian05 This passage refers to God's love for us - Jesus was sent to Earth and was crucified because of his love for us. Many atheists use this passage to argue that Jesus was a hypocrite (he does not follow the law to the "T" and therefore does not fulfill it), but if you don't understand what the law and other prophets said before him, and their underlying message you won't understand this passage.
I don't blame you, there's some nasty stuff in there. Unfortunately your bible says that attempting to delete or omit ANY part of the bible means you can't be saved. Kind of bad news for all you "nice" christians who ignore all the savagery of the old testament.

If so, thanks for proving my original point that atheists know how to read but don't understand the bible, and manipulate the bible to prove their arguments. "Skirts" in this case is not talking about women skirts, it is talking about the linen undergarments worn by priests at that time. "Skirts" in this case is not talking about women skirts, it is talking about the linen undergarments worn by priests at that time. Priests were supposed to be the spiritual leaders but because the Hebrews were so sinful at the time, even the priests should be embarrassed, so much so that they don't deserve to wear the garments of a priest. Taking away the rights of priest is "violation" because it would be humiliating to be defrocked.
God is clearly addressing Jeremiah (a priest) with this verse since he says "your" and "you," not a woman/women. Therefore, it's not possible that this verse has anything to do with raping women.

@markf @doug101537 Mathew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
