I'm surprised no one has commented because this is a really powerful song.
I think it's about undergoing a gradual change that strays from one's core values, realizing this and the inertia associated with most gradual life changes ("concrete shoes"), and then saying to oneself - "I need to change today or else I'm headed down a path I don't want to." This song marks a turning point for the vocalist, if he follows through with his conviction.
I agree this is one of my favorite strung out songs. "I found myself again and i didn't like this thing that i've become now"......
Seems to me it's about someone whos changed for someone( a girl perhaps) and now doesn't like what he's become. "And you always got the best of me While bringing out the worst of me"
I think the line at the end really drives home the point "Is what you see in me really what i wanna be?" He doesn't like what he's become for this person and realizes he must change if he wants to be happy.... Thats just what i take from this song
