Matchbook Lyrics
Agreed. The live in a dive version gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it. One of my favorite Strung Out songs. And of course just like everyone else I can relate to this song so well. My take on the name Matchbook is just that. A frail book of paper and wood, packed with a burning agent and complete with a strike pad on the back to start your own fire. Everything in a matchbook is used for its own self destruction. What happens if you hold one of the matches up to the others after its lit? POOF! everything up and smoke... just a memory.
this is one of strung out's best songs in my opinion. it's an anthem for those who have waited and tried for another to decide wether or not to grasp the opportunity of relationship that could work with a little effort from the other side. A person can only go so far before they give up on a hope like this, especially when they are pulled in every direction by the significant other, not knowing the truth. The line "Now I'm sorry I can never really say all the things going on inside my head." is one that anyone can relate to in situations that they've deeply cared about and didn't want to ruin. I'm just an 19 year old boy so what do I know. Thats what I think. The guitar and drums on this track are very intense, they couldnt be better. Vocals fit the music PERFECTLY. Like an orange in an orange peel. With a song like this, I could go crazy to the music and the power of the vocals, or sit and think about the lyrics. Great physical and emotional encouragement.
definatly the best strung out song! "To justify with all your words don't mean anything to me cuz I've cut you off so here we stand and face each other we've got nothing to say"-how many relationships does that describe? strung out rock and so does this song
This song explains an individual who has given up on a relatioship...perfect way to describe the frustration of breaking up and having to deal with personal anger from the past. Agreed with njk 15 that this is a great song
"Don't look back in anger that's all that you can see. Cuz anger's all I got to keep me warm when you're away"
What a great song.
"so here we stand and face each other we've got nothing to say. A flashback to another time when silence was a welcome friend."
damn are these guys musical geniusses or what. That song is just too awesome. The lyrics, the music, everything. They just fit eachother so well. Punk is a great way to express your feelings, and boy do these guys know how to use that or what
Right now, this is probably my favorite song. I just fucked up in what could have been a great relationship, and although we try to act like nothing's happened, "...I can see it in (her) eyes and hear it in (her) voice..." and it is obvious that all we could have had has run its course. This was always one of my favorite Strung Out songs, but now that i'm in the same predicament, it has a whole new meaning to me. The lyrics and music are so perfectly blended that no one could have done it better. Great song for anyone who's in a relationship that's ending, and we've all been there.
every line of this song is great. The lyrics are excellent, guitar is perfect for the song. drums n bass aint there really. Vocals are so great. I love the end of this song with "I comb my hair, etc, etc." great way to resolve everything.
This song is absolutely awesome. Every line of this song means something to me, as i am currently going through a strenuous break up with a girlfriend of 3 years. This is my all time favourite song By Strung Out, and the drumming! is just awesome, guitars are great vocals are perfect, the song simply rocks in a mega way. As we say here in australia, that bad is Fair Dinkum Fucking Fantasic
I don't know what to say. Greatest song in the world. Period.
