desert night under lonely stars. crusing down the highway takes me farther from home. whiskey and regret... neither can erase the fact that i have done wrong. so now i'm on the run. the law is on my trail. let down the only girl that ever seemed to be the one for me, so now i wander alone. alone in a cheap motel room. praying to the Lord above. burden of the past rests so heavy on my shoulders. my conscience carries the weight of blood. cigarette smoke and shadow. a neon cactus in the night. did what i did because i thought that i had no choice, but there's always another way. i look to the moon and stars, somewhere underneath them she's there. never spoke the words of love i hid in my heart. if she heard them now would she still care? wonder if she's thinking of me? does she hate me for what i've done? how i wish that i could change everything and go back now that my last chance is gone. it's gone. moon, will you tell her for me, i'm sorry for all the trouble that i've caused. if only i could find a way to return to her someday, for i long to hold her in my arms. but i fear that i'm not long for this world, because i will not go out without a fight. i'm running forever and if they should catch me... one last thought of her before my gun is fired.

my ex was on the run and I didn't know until one day he packed up his things and bounced leaving behind a love letter....

I was so heartbroken and I'm sure he was too... still am...

I look to the moon and stars-- Somewhere underneath them she's there Never even spoke to her the words of love I hid in my heart If she heard them now, would she still care? Wonder if she's thinking of me How I wish i could change everything and go back Now that my last change is gone It's gone

Whoever typed out these lyrics for got a line. "Does she hate me for what O've done should be the 4th line from the bottom.

All in all, great song, I love it. I'm 15 and a punk/goth kind of guy. I had this song playing and my dad asked "What are you listening to?" I said "It's tiger army" he told me he liked it. :-)

This is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. You can literaly feel the desperation in Nick 13's voice.

Tiger Army never sieizes to amaze me.

this song is pretty self-explanatory... this is a great tiger army song. i really love their songs with the old country sound, i love the mixture of the styles, and nick's voice is amazing for it.

yeah it has a sort of western country feel to it, makes me think of a dark, empty desert in the middle of nowhere. "My conscience carries the weight of blood" Sounds like this guy did something bad in the past that he can't escape, killed someone, maybe?

This song says everything about a mistake I've made in my recent past. I made a horrible mistake, and the girl that I truly loved left me. "Let down the only girl that ever seemed to be the one for me So now I wander alone"

I can't help but cry as I put this into words.

"Moon, will you tell her for me I'm sorry for all the trouble that I've caused If only I could find a way to return to her someday For I long to hold her in my arms Because I will not go out withougt a fight....One last thought of her before my gun is fired"

When you find the One, hold onto her with everything you've got...

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
