I still remember the night we met
You said you loved my smile
But your love was like a summer breeze
Oh it lasted for a while

I could hold on a little tighter I know
But when you love someone you gotta let 'em go so

I'm gonna smile 'cause I want to make you happy
Laugh so you can't see me cry
I'm gonna let you go in stlye
And even if it kills me
I'm gonna smile

Kiss me once for the good times baby
Kiss me twice for goodbye
You can't help what you don't feel
And it doesn't matter why

Give me a chance to bow out gracefully
Because that's how I want you to remember me

I'm gonna smile, 'cause I want to make you happy
Laugh, so you can't see me cry
I'm gonna let you go in style
And even if it kills me
I'm gonna smile

I'm gonna smile so you can find the courage
Laugh, so you won't see me hurtin'
I'm gonna let you go in style
And even if it kills me
I'm gonna smile

OK you all obviously do not like Lonestar, personally i think they are good for a country band. i am usually into rock or rap music but this song is just really good. I think he wrote the song about his gf leaving him, but he just wants her to be happy even if it means leaving him for someone else. ao he is going to hide his emotions from her so she can be happy because he loves her so much he would give up his happiness just so she can be happy.

This is one of their best songs. I love it. Its how I try to handle all breakups...with some class. Its hard to let someone you love go but I'd rather do it with style and smile and hope that they're going to be happy than making it a horrible breakup. I want to be remembered for the good times, not a bad ending even if I have to hide my emotions from someone that I love deeply.

this song reminds me SOO much of an ex flame. I loved him with all my heart, and I still do. But I have to go on with my life, ' even if it kills me, I'm gonna smile.' I just with he knew how i really felt, he means so much to me.

I really like this song. I first heard it on my way back from Nunda (a small town in Western NY) where my uncle is buried. I was sitting in the back of my grandpa's truck, thinking of my uncle. I almost cried. Then this song played on the radio...

i think maybe this song is about somone who is dying. the narrator is trying to be strong for the person who is dying.

I could hold on a little tighter I know But when you love someone you gotta let 'em go so

when you love someone who is dying, you don't want them to die, but you know it's selfish that you want to keep them. so you have to let them go cos you love them...

My boyfriend and I just broke up a few days ago and even though it kills me to let him go I at least want to do it in style. I want to smile and think about all the good times we had, and when I see him around sometimes I want to be able to handle it and smile....

This song's story is very difficult to live by. When you're losing the one you love, you have to keep a smile and let the relationship end in style. You need to laugh and remember the good times of being with him/her, even know the pain of losing them is freshly breaking your heart. But in a way it can be about someone who is dying because the lead singer added the line "I could hold on a little tighter I know - But when you love someone, you gotta let them go".

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
