This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Well
They say you got it
I'll say you got it
That's right, you got it
You got it good
You got it
Oh hell, you got it
You can have it
You got it
You give it away like free samples
But I don't want what anyone can have
You got it
Damn right, you got it
So what?
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Yeah
Just 'cause you got it
You think everyone wants you
Just 'cause you got it
You think you're so damn neat
You got it
That's right, you got it
Fuck you
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Ow
Yeah
Oh
They say you got it
I'll say you got it
That's right, you got it
You got it good
You got it
Oh hell, you got it
You can have it
You got it
You give it away like free samples
But I don't want what anyone can have
You got it
Damn right, you got it
So what?
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Yeah
Just 'cause you got it
You think everyone wants you
Just 'cause you got it
You think you're so damn neat
You got it
That's right, you got it
Fuck you
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Keep it outta my face
Ow
Yeah
Oh

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

About commercial success and money....
I think its about sex and a girl who thinks everyone wants to do her coz shes so wonderful, but he doesn't.
No it's obviously about selling out.
People who sell out don't give it away in "free samples", they charge you loads of money for it. Anyway the correct lyrics are:
Woah.. They say you got it I've seen you got it You got it.. You got it good You've got it, You can keep it That's right.. I don't want it
You give it away like free samples But I don't want what anyone can have You've got it.. Yeah you got it So what? Keep your mirror.. 'my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face
Just cuz you got it, You think everyone wants you You got it, That's enough You got it, That's right you got it You're fucked
Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face
Notices "the keep your mirror bit" Theres also loads of orgasm noises they make it sound like its about a bitch
the superfuzz bigmuff version is better than the self-titled version, imo.
the lyrics are only slightly different on it. i like the "you think you're something neat" part, as well as the "fuck you"...
Well, they say you got it I've seen you got it That's right, you got it You got it good
You got it Oh God, you got it You can have it You got it
You give it away like free samples But I don't want what anyone can have You got it.. Damn right you got it So what? Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face
Just cause you got it, you think everyone wants you Just cause you got it, you think you're something neat You got it That's right, you got it Fuck you! Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Keep it out of my face Yeah! Ow! Yeah! Uhh!
er its not on superfuzz bigmuff...do you mean the single version?
Im not a major mudhoney fan so i'm not sure about their writing style, but everytime i hear this song all I can think is that the song is about common knowledge through a typical education from the standpoint of a dropout.
"I don't want what anyone can have" "You got it" "You can keep it That's right I don't want it" "Keep it outta my face" "Just cause you got it You think everyone wants you"
Just to me seems like someone telling a dropout to go back to school and they just rip into the person in response.Eh my 2 cents.
i just think its about a slut. hes the only one who doesnt want to screw her, because he knows everybody else has done her too. its a really simple song
Yeah, I definitely think this is about some slut who dresses scantily that he doesn't want any part of.
My opinion is that this song is about religion. It's about how it's fine that others have their religion, but he doesn't like them waving it around in his face.
