What Else Do I Need? Lyrics
I don't mind that I've
Come back here again
In a place so far away
From normal life
They are racing to a prison
They will never leave
Worshipping a system
I just don't believe
I could stay right here
And never ever leave
What else do I need
I know that you don't like me
That's all right today
I love you, but you bore me
Don't fuck up my day
I could stay right here
And never ever leave
What else do I need
I could stay right here
And never ever leave
What else do I need
People worry that
I don't do anything
I think they really wonder
Why I'm not like them
They are racing to a prison
They will never leave
Worshipping a system
I just don't believe
I could stay right here
And never ever leave
What else do I need
What else do I need
What else do I need
Come back here again
In a place so far away
From normal life
They will never leave
Worshipping a system
I just don't believe
And never ever leave
What else do I need
That's all right today
I love you, but you bore me
Don't fuck up my day
And never ever leave
What else do I need
And never ever leave
What else do I need
I don't do anything
I think they really wonder
Why I'm not like them
They will never leave
Worshipping a system
I just don't believe
And never ever leave
What else do I need
What else do I need
What else do I need

"I don't mind that I've Come back here again In a place so far away From normal life"
He's found himself isolated again, back in his own private world. He's perfectly content so long as the outside world doesn't try to interfere with him. Basically living as a member of the real world never works out for this guy, and he's content in his own private world separate from it all.
I think this song is about apathy. He doesn't care anymore, it's not worth the hassle of trying.
Everyone else is racing to the prison, which he in his apathy view ordinary life, the rat race to get grades, gain friends and make a career. To him that is worthless, he doesn't have the energy to try. He does not belive that ordinary life will make him any good either.
He doesn't even care that people don't like him. He likes them, but it is not worth trying to gain their sympathy. He rather not commit or be disturbed.
This is a description of loosing your feelings, your emotions, your will to do anything. All is gray and nothing is good or bad anymore. No anger, nor sadness, just apathy.
I'll post a similar message here too:
A few of Jon Croby's songs seem to be based around the same theme
"People worry that I don't do anything I think they really wonder Why I'm not like them"
e.g. My TV & You being another example
