I Don't Have Anything Lyrics
I stood on mountaintops
That overlooked the world
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
I went to places where
I could forget your name
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
I don't have anything
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything
What can I buy to make
The sky turn blue again
Where can I go to feel
Like I'm alive again
Show me the places
Where I can forget your name
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
I don't have anything
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything
I've been stripped of everything
Except some flesh that bleeds
And I've been robbed of everything
Except a soul, except a soul
That needs...you, sweet you
I don't have anything
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything
That overlooked the world
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
I went to places where
I could forget your name
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything
The sky turn blue again
Where can I go to feel
Like I'm alive again
Show me the places
Where I can forget your name
I can't find anything
Except a void inside
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything
Except some flesh that bleeds
And I've been robbed of everything
Except a soul, except a soul
That needs...you, sweet you
Because I don't have you
I don't have anything

holy moly, this is such an awesome song, i'm really surprised nobody has commented on it. wow, where to begin? this nearly perfectly typifies the feelings you go thru when you lose the one person you love the most. while the chorus is pretty straight-forward, i am particularly fond of the lines, "What can I buy to make The sky turn blue again Where can I go to feel Like I'm alive again Show me the places Where I can forget your name I can't find anything Except a void inside" He's pleading for normalcy, he just wants to escape to where he can live again, but knows it just isn't possible to live again without this amazing person in his life, or loving him. Wow... just wow.
This song is awesome and I think if more people got to hear it they'd love it, and Vast would be a better known band. I think they are awesome.
GREAT SONG! its very touching, and I hope I never feel this way, beacause i know i'd never stop listening to this song. Its amazing how much songs like this one can touch you. Great song, a pretty damn good band.
The line " what can I buy to make the sky turn blue again" is the most incredible lyric I've heard in a lng time. Jon is truly gifted. This song is amazing and I know exactly how he's feeling, it's the way I would feel if I lost my love. I can feel the agony, I hope I never have to go through it. Beautiful song, I'd love to meet Jon, just to see what kind of person he is.
This perfectly sums up the feeling you have after being dumped by somebody you absolutely adore. I've felt that way, and I can't say the feeling lasts forever, but when you feel it... it feels exactly how this song describes it.
"Show me the places where I can forget your name"
That is the standout line for me. Because I would love to be able to push back my bad memories and forget the girl who left me... but it's almost impossible, and when you're alone... it's like you don't have anything.
This song means a lot to me, because I left to go far away to college and tried to forget about the guy I was with before college started. And to me, it's bout how I tried to forget about him so I wouldnt get sad but all I found was a hole without him.
I went to places where I could forget your name I can't find anything Except a void inside
Show me the places Where I can forget your name
That strikes me everytime that I listen to this song. (and that is a LOT) This is simply a great song. Good music, great lyrics. It conveys a lot of emotion. But that is what I've come to expect from VAST, even though it is hard to put true emotion into each song, but somehow VAST manages. I'm never disappointed.
this is my favorite vast song by far. very powerful and hits hard everytime I listen to it. Vast is an amazing band, thank god for Jon Crosby.
I was just thinking, in the context of this song, it might even also be taken as the feelings one goes through when they doubt their own faith.
That being said I think I've seen just about every vast song explained as about God somehow lol. It'd be nice to hear Crosby sit through each song and explain them to us :P
Ok, well to me, this song is just like a person's normal reaction to the loss of relationship with the person who felt, at the time, like The One...the opening line, to me, is how he felt IN the relationship, the constant references to "a void inside" and the chorus are after the break-up when he's realised it's gone for good, and the second verse is when he's still in the "bargaining phase" after the break-up.
Just my thoughts...anyway, this song has HUGE significance for me cos it was the second VAST song I ever heard and it was "given" to me by an ex who felt at the time like My One, she made me feel alive like I never had before and fear I never will again, while we were together it WAS like I was standing on mountaintops overlooking the world, like just being with her gave me wings to climb to the highest peaks dreamt of and just look down at everyone who wasn't experiencing such love, such a feeling of being with The One I was made to be with...then when we broke up it felt like all that was left of me was "some flesh that bleeds" and "a soul that needs you (her)"...like I was nothing more now than a broken down old sack of meat with no meaning or purpose...and unfortunately I still pine for her
