Gone To Earth Lyrics
Worlds on end
Seen through
A rocket window screen
Millions left to roam
Engines burn
Beautiful and bright
Always bring me home
If galaxies
Are places you've
Never been too far
Suns will fade
Both blind and lead the way
Home where you are
Away away
Away away
The receiver
In my rocket ship
Always stays in tune
To the right waveband
In galaxies unknown
Further suns in bloom
Away away...
Seen through
A rocket window screen
Millions left to roam
Engines burn
Beautiful and bright
Always bring me home
Are places you've
Never been too far
Suns will fade
Both blind and lead the way
Home where you are
Away away
In my rocket ship
Always stays in tune
To the right waveband
In galaxies unknown
Further suns in bloom

This song is "On My Way." Whoever submitted these had the titles all mixed up.
actually, timothyreal you are partially right. these are the lyrics to "on my way" on the fun of watching fireworks. this is also known as "gone to earth" on the through the 90s. there are two different names for this song... and two "on my way"s.
The lyrics as of this posting are the correct ones for Gone to Earth. I first heard American Analog Set when I heard this song on somafm.com's Indie Pop Rocks station.
just picture this......you get into a rocket ship while the world is about to end (Apocolypse) you jet off towards the milky way while your home planet is about to be ruined...gone....
These lyrics are actually for the song "On My Way", and are not quite right for the "Gone To Earth" song heard on the CD Know By Heart. The Know By Heart version omits the second verse here and the "Away, away" bits.
Both are great.
The lyrics certainly don't match the "On My Way" that is on The Fun of Watching Fireworks. The clip of the Know By Heart version of "Gone To Earth" on iTunes seems to match these lyrics, but I can't tell if it is missing the parts you mention.
Actually yeah you're right. "Gone To Earth" on Fun of Watching Fireworks uses these lyrics, has an extended instrumental intro, and is softer sounding, with distinct harmonies sung on the closing phrases like "Millions left to roam" and "Always bring me home" Also has a unique percussion for an AmAnSet song, with what sounds like a conga drum or bongos, and a vibraphone or something similar only appearing between verses. The Know By Heart version is a little heavier, the vocals don't feature the same harmonies but rather sound double tracked, the vibraphone is used throughout, with...

The lyrics take me to another place. Amazing songs, both of them.
I am completely obsessed with this song at the moment. It is just so perfect.
