i picture the band jumping up and down in slow motion.
slow mo gravity low
i love this song. what does the title mean in relation to they lyrics though? when i see that title, it kind of sounds like a line a boss would tell someone to fire them from a job. you know?
I think the title is another way to say you don't need someone anymore. When I listen to this song it makes me think of sitting in a room, completely absorbed in a memory. They are on 'half-speed' yet 'wild and free'? When you watch a videocassette you can put it on half-speed and that's what I think it all means. He's watching his memories of this relationship go by slowly...he's computerizing and he doesn't need her anymore. I don't know, that was a revelation that happened while I was writing my comment.
personally, i think the idea that this song is about him not needing a girl anymore is completely wrong. i think it's about living a combination of slowly and wildly but sharing it with someone. it's not a negative song, though the title would make it seem that way. i think the title was just meant to be funny.
personally i think the song is about two people who are having an affair, but one or both of them are in a relationship... "but quietly like we're supposed to be." when he says half speed i think he's referring to the desire they each have for eachother which they pursue, but also the constant reminder in the back of their head that maybe it's wrong, resulting in them going "half speed" or having perhaps second thoughts and being a bit held back at times. maybe the "computerizing" in the title refers to all the social networking sites infamous for booty calls? just a thought.
